Solid 4.5 stars! The cashier was hapai yet still very sweet and attentive. We arrived around 11:15/11:20 and she was going to let me order off of their 11:30 flat bread menu, but being my first time, I decided to start with a standard avocado toast. I'm usually skeptical of avocado toast since it's been all the rave, but I followed the cashier's recommendation and ordered a Greek. My oh my was it 'ono-tastic! Not just that, it was LOADED with fresh cucumber, red onion, feta, and a generous portion of reduced balsamic. Ooooooh weeeeee! Enjoy your healthy meal or snack on the lovely deck overlooking Kailua town. 100% recommend!

Gravlax toast

Found this place as it shares a parking lot with a fish market we were headed to. Stopped for a light breakfast and beverages. We were a group of four, and were able to split a gravlax toast and omelette between us. The fish was wonderful and legit cured in salt and sugar--sliced medium which is perfect for me. Flavorful and thick toasted bread. The omelette on the other hand, can be skipped--so dry and eggs tasted like there might be something mixed in to stabilize, mushroom and veggies were only upside, but just ended up taking a few bites and tossing. Dragon fruit smoothie is great, and while I'm not a coffee drinker, my friends said it was good. The inside is just counter service and is shared or has an adjoining door with another business, so outside seating or takeaway at this place. Service is friendly, but slow, no biggie. Go for the toast--many selections. Good prices.

This place is connected to a gym and only has outdoor seating that is shaded. It's a nice spot but the service is a little lacking. No smiles, no thank yous, or any positive body language here. The food was decent but maybe it was a bad day for them.

Breakfast bagel

My wife & I ate here while visiting Kona for our honeymoon. I got a breakfast bagel and my wife got a waffle. The bagel was very messy but amazing! However my wife's waffle was super hard. She couldn't cut into it with a fork, and was hard for her to chew. The employees were nice, but the outside was a little disappointing as we went early in the am and the trash cans were overflowing.

Breakfast Sandwich

Just flew in from Oahu for a overnight on The Big Island on the Kona side and discovered this little place. Husband ordered a breakfast sandwich which he said was pretty good. I had a yummy yogurt with granola topped with fresh blueberries and pineapples....so good. We both had a nice cup of coffee which is why we stopped in the first place. The little gem only has outdoor seating with umbrellas.

Title: **Rancid Avocado Ruined the Experience** I had high hopes for Roasted and Toasted, but my experience was nothing short of a disaster. I ordered the Big Bruddah avocado toast, expecting a fresh and delicious meal. Instead, I was served avocado that was completely rancid. When I got home and took a closer look, I was horrified to see how brown and disgusting the avocado was underneath. I had to scrape it off and throw it away into the trash. I've attached a picture for anyone who doubts the level of grossness. This was incredibly disappointing for $16 avocado, eggs, & bacon on a slice of bread. I'm willing to give you a second shot, but I'm checking the quality of the avocado before sinking my teeth into it. Save your money and your stomach - go somewhere else!

Freshly made cinnamon buns :) When I ordered I thought it came with only one but when I opened the to go box in the hotel there were two :) Awesome staff. Their menu has variety of health food.

My husband and I enjoyed a scrumptious omelette with tomato, avocado and fish. The fish was not too strong, which was a pleasant surprise Pros: super fresh and healthy food, friendly service, lattes are less expensive than other places' lattes we have visited in the area, omelette is light and fluffy Cons: expensive, protein options for the omelette are all animal protein (please consider a plant based alternative) Tip: sit in the back where there is wayy more shade

This is no "gym-staurant" this is a protein factory. Yes, it is connected to the gym but it has great grab and go (or protein packed) items for good value.

Popped in for some breakfast. We were in between late breakfast and early lunch. Super nice staff. Food was our fast and outdoor seating was comfortable and shaded. Smaller than we anticipated but worth the stop. Fish tacos were well seasoned & my gravitas was as well. Don't miss this cute spot with great food!

Caprese toast and crepe

There aren't many options for breakfast in Kona, so while strolling around our hotel, we found Roasted Toaster. It opens at 7:30AM, which was the perfect time for my schedule. I got there a little early, and the workers were super friendly and welcoming. I had the caprese toast and crepe. I loved the toast. The bread was a great texture and flavor. There were thick slices of mozzarella cheese and tomato with fresh avocado underneath. The balsamic dressing topped everything off. The crepe looked better than it tasted and was a little too doughy for me, but the fruits were delicious! I would definitely recommend Roasted Toasted for a delicious breakfast. Order the toast!

The Avocado toast is to kill for. And they offer it with many varieties. Tasty flavorable and delicious. Go and enjoy!

The service was outstanding, and the food was exquisite. If only there were tables inside to witness the magnificent chef at work!

The place was very busy and quite loud, so we had to sit at a high top in the bar. No big deal! Our server was incredibly attentive and made some great recommendations. We decided to start with quest and chips, which was brought out very quickly and nice and hot. As we inhaled the quest and chips, we decided on fish tacos for me and a veggie burger for my husband. The fish tacos were wonderfully seasoned and cooked very well. The tortillas were a bit greasy, however, and I was very happy there were two tortillas to each taco since there was also a bit more drip than I expected from the pico. I also had fries, and the fries were excellent! The veggie burger was epic. This was the second veggie burger from this group of restaurants he has had, and I'm pretty sure it's his favorite in the area. Perfectly cooked and seasoned well, with great fries. It was very busy here, which is always a good sign. Just wish the music wasn't as loud because it's hard to have any sort of conversation. I did enjoy how involved the singer was with the other patrons, so it was amusing!

This coffee shop is located in a small plaza with a pizza place, taco spot, and Merriman's. The plaza itself has plenty of parking even when it's on the busier side on a weekend morning, so it's not hard to find a spot. Inside the cafe, there's a retail section that sells clothing and small goods, and a separate side to place your order and sit and enjoy your drink. The interior is bright and welcoming with a minimalist vibe, and even when we visited on a weekend morning, it was easy to find seating either indoors or outdoors. Service was wonderful -- we were helped promptly by staff, and my drink came out quickly. I got the black sesame latte with a chocolate chip cookie. I thought my drink was perfect, as the flavor of the black sesame was nutty, pleasant, and just the right amount of sweetness paired with the espresso. The cookie was on the softer/puffier side, and although it's not my preferred texture, it wasn't too bad! To sum up, I really enjoyed dropping by to get coffee here, and I feel like the quality of the drinks at Surf Camp is consistent across their different locations. I'll definitely come back if I ever find myself on Big Island for another trip!

The shop had a very minimalistic design with the perfect touches of Hawaii that made it such a relaxing and homey place to have breakfast. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, which wasn't super crowded on a Saturday brunch time. I got the cucumber bagel and black sesame latte. I loved the crunchiness of the cucumbers and you can tell they care about the quality of their ingredients. The ricotta was the perfect touch and brought everything together for a simple and filling breakfast. I love black sesame, so it was such a nice surprise to see they had a latte on the menu. I liked the nuttiness of the sesame, but the coffee was more on the bitter side. Such a cute shop that is the perfect addition to Waimea town. I would definitely recommend coming here for food and to check out the shop!

Loved the ali'i mushrooms and shallots (although I would ask for them sliced and caramelized with the mushrooms instead of whole). Overall a solid dish. 5 stars. Chefs special - fresh catch mahi-mahi (could had used a touch more seasoning and hot pan sear) with perfect roasted carrots and broccolini on some nice mashed potatoes. I forgot the type of kimchee it had on top, but it was fantastic. Great combination of flavors and textures. 5 stars. Kids penne pasta - basic penne with good amount of butter and scant cheese. 4.5 stars. Everything was pricey, which is to be expected with hotel restaurants. But the food taste and quality was up to par for the most part. Our server deserves a lot of credit since she helped steer us away from some dishes and towards others. I hope the chef team takes into consideration what their long time staff (especially the ones with good taste) have to say about the rotating menu. I noticed the seafood chowder was not on the menu anymore and I asked about the new chowder and our server said it definitely wasn't as good. We were also visiting during a slower time so I'm guessing there are challenges on a number of levels. And shout out to the Cream-filled malasadas in the deli case...better than the fresh ones at the farmers market! 5+ stars!!
