The building and decor were cute and quaint. The food was decent, nothing wrong with our orders. But not really anything special. The waitress brought our check only a few minutes after bringing our entrees. We had only just begun eating. We all found that a bit rude. How did she know we that we wouldn't want more? It was my bday, we wanted desserts and more drinks. But we did not feel welcomed anymore. when we tried to get her attention to get boxes for our leftovers, she cringed at us. What a delightful surprise to discover Roasted Pub and Eatery in downtown Detroit Lakes. It's a cozy breath of fresh air (and offers very good food) amid a sea of mostly poor and unhealthy restaurant choices in northwestern Minnesota. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to please. The menu options are plentiful, the portions are a good value, and the kitchen can accommodate most dietary requests. My family and I have gone here quite a couple times but now we won't. My aunt was from out of town so we figured we would take her to a good restaurant. Big mistake. We waited an 1 1/2 hours for our food granted there were multiple tables but it wasn't busy to say the least. Our server was standing around talking instead of getting our food out and promised multiple times it would be out soon. When we did get our appetizers she got her elbow in my boyfriends food. Then told us that they had dropped our pizza on the floor and they were making us a new one. I've worked in a restaurant and this was beyond unacceptable. We all knew she forgot to put our order in because there was absolutely no reason it should have taken an hour and a half to get us our VERY SIMPLE order. read more

This place has really gone downhill over the years. Although the prices have gone nothing but uphill. The chicken sandwich was very dry I could get a better chicken sandwich at chick-fil-a, the cheeseburger tasted terrible. Our meals came out at completely different times---in fact we were all done eating by the time the last number of our party got her cheeseburger. Visited this spot on a whim. Looked neat and smelled amazing. Was excited because the Packers played tonight and the bartender was decked out in Green Bay gear. Sat at the bar, said hello to the bartender and she didn't even look up, and replied with a short disinterested "Hey". Took a few minutes to get menus. The bartender served a gentleman next to us with his beverage, and proceeded with other tasks. We waited another minute or so and decided to take our business elsewhere. Only have the two stars because I do like pizza and would have loved to stay. She didn't bother to say goodbye and I truly think she didn't care to serve us. Disappointing. read more

Roasted has a prime location on the quaint main street of Detroit Lakes. It offers craft beer and delicious coffee. Why aren't there more of these?! We had the arugula pizza which was awesome. The peppery arugula with lemon juice added a light and unique alternative to the ordinary Za order. Their spinach artichoke dip was delicious as well. Very cheesy (and very hot-be careful) with huge chunks of artichoke -- which I love. Only downside to the dip was the bread it was served with had a bit too much salt added but hey that's not a downside for some! Overall great place for any time of day. I love this place! Started coming here because of the signage. Then the food was good!! Next the coffee, specifically the americanos are awesome and the staff are great! Love going in there in the mornings for coffee. They remember you and ask about you. My go to is the ceasar salad with portabella mushrooms or the roasted Grain bowl with portabella mushrooms. My kids and I visited Roasted for the first time on a weeknight about two weeks ago. We enjoyed the cheese app in the cast iron skillet served with pretzel bread (different and yummy). We ordered two pizzas, both tasty but we all found the crust odd. In the center it was flimsy and soggy from the toppings, midway to the edge it was firmer and chewy (not soggy), and at the edge it was crisp - three very different textures in the crust from first bite to last. The service was prompt and pleasant. Our total for two pizzas, an appetizer, an order of fries, and three sodas was about $50 and the kids were still hungry when we left. I will probably visit again to try other items, including the coffee and baked goods. The atmosphere is cool. I think I'd like hanging out there alone or with friends, but don't see it becoming a family favorite or my go-to local pizzeria. read more

While our server met our expectations, our poor experience started when it took about 10+ minutes to get our beverage order, even though only about 30% of the tables were filled. Upon receipt of our beverage order, we immediately ordered our meal. 37 minutes later it arrived. The meals were hot but even though the menu said that my pork tenderloin was supposed cooked to medium, the center of it was a light shade of pink. Given the cost of the menu selections and other comments we had received, we expected more from this restaurant. However, given the experience that we received, we do not plan to return. read more

Excellent place for morning coffee. The coffee itself is well roasted and there is a wide variety of outstanding bakery items, from French-inspired to Midwest favs, to eat with the coffee. Lunch soups, salads, and sandwiches are also really good. The weekend dinner specials are inventive and tasty. Finally, the bar has a great list of beers, wines, and mixed drinks. Average service, pretty good food. Poor waitress was running around trying to help everyone. We went up to the counter to pay our bill (which we had). And the man said, "I will go find your waitress" which resulted in waiting another 8 minutes to leave. My expectation would have been that he would have taken care of it because he had literally been doing nothing but saying "hello" to people during our entire meal. I've been to roasted a couple times, today with my daughters. One had grilled cheese & soup special, she sent the grilled cheese back once got another but she still couldn't eat it although the soup was terrific. I had the arugala,prosciutto pizza with 2 eggs. The eggs were supposed to be Sunnyside up but were hard & rubbery. May try again someday but will be awhile. read more

In town for a business trip, so came here after the several recommendations and decent reviews. Nice ambiance, and I was thinking this meant great service too but must have been an off night for them since I saw my waitress twice....once to take my drink/dinner order and the second to drop off my dinner. Going in, I wanted anything from their much acclaimed seafood specials that have raving reviews online and of these, the BBQ scallops, Tuscan sole or the Glazed salmon had me drooling 2 hours before dinner.... but since all are specials, none were on the menu for the night so I ordered the ribeye, medium rare and 2 sides of mashed potatoes. I was brought a ribeye that was past medium, bordering well done and rice and 3 green beans??? Apparently they were out of the mash so they made the sub of their own instead of asking what I preferred. I really wanted to like this place and am disappointed after being all ready for some yummy food, but I guess this is the universe telling me to get back to eating healthy!! I'll try something/somewhere else out for dinner tomorrow. read more
