I always stop for rhubarb as it's a Midwestern thing. This place has Rhubarb toast, with pistachios and a lemon chantilly cream base. We have decided we would drive for hours just to come back to this place! Our server recommended it and she said she's very picky and it was her favorite. We agreed with her! This restaurant is a must stop for me whenever in Perham. I love it in the summer because the back patio is an enclosed area that feels like an oasis from street traffic. I have never had a bad meal here. As a pescatarian/vegetarian, I appreciate the many healthy yet tasty options. The drink menu is well curated. During a recent summer visit, I enjoyed a berry spicy Margarita. I tend to avoid fruit margaritas because they are often too sweet, but this one balanced the fruit and spice well. I would definitely order again. Even though I was the only patron on the patio, the staff was very attentive - refilling water as needed and checking in an appropriate amount. So we have all heard of Zorbaz in lake country - and that may have been the spot in the Perham area until The Brew came to town. I think people that live in the area, vacation here, or simply drive through can confidently agree - this is the best food in town. Are you an app person? The Brew has plenty of options - all done better than your small town dive bar. My vote - the Gouda Pickles. Handheld aficionado? They have sandwiches galor. Burgers. Chicken sammies. Tacos. Place was packed and only seating was upstairs. Staff were friendly, but service was not the best. Order was messed up and I received the wrong drinks on my beer flight. Food was OK. I ordered the veggie burger, and it was a bit lacking in flavor and the texture seemed a bit off than what I've experienced in the past. Very very good! Would have been a full five stars but we arrived at 6:30 and didn't get our food until 7:45, and there weren't many people when we arrived so not sure what that was about. At our table we had the patty melt, a burger, a poutine burger and the Gouda pickle bites (which sounds weird but was the best thing on the table!) it was a crisp dill pickle with melted Gouda in an egg roll wrapper deep fried and oh so yummy!! As we were enjoying the fantastic "Dubliner" burgers, the pouteen, something from the always impressive beer list, and the National Spelling Bee Championship on the tv behind the bartender, a figure suddenly appeared next to us, placing a mason jar of sauerkraut on the bar and addressing the room: "Anybody want to trade for some kraut?" He needed an alarm clock, it turned out, and would offer his homemade sauerkraut in return. He had a new job, and needed to make sure that he woke up in time. The number of alarm clocks in the room was zero, but we directed him toward the Dollar Store, which seemed the best bet. I hope he found one, and I hope he woke up in time. read more

This place was absolutely delicious! We just came in for a drink and snacks. The manager was at the bar and was extremely helpful and friendly. The other staff was friendly as well. We ordered the cheese curds and the poutine - amazing! Usually, when we visit Minnesota we try several different cheese curds at different restaurants and these were one of our faves. The homemade chips, they really are homemade - not like some places that just dunk some frozen potatoes in grease. Very good! The service was ok... There wasn't a sign stating if we should wait to be seated or if we should seat ourselves. We walked in and 2 servers almost looked through us. I had to ask "can we sit anywhere?" Once seated we waited a few minutes for menus. It just seemed there was a lot of waiting - more so than typical. It wasn't terrible just not the kind of service that would warrant 5 stars. I love this place. They had a good verity of beers on tap. The two I had were both great. The burgers were very juicy and the ingredients were great quality. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a burger as much as the one I had, the Brewben. Service was a little slow on getting the mains, but we never ran out of drink and the appetizer was delivered pretty quick. The place is also friendly to those with Gluten Intolerance like my wife. I was looking for something out of the ordinary in Perham for lunch, so I ordered the sweet potato and quinoa salad and tomato basil soup to go. I was hesitant about the salad as the only greens were arugula, but adding the feta cheese, craisins, walnuts, and vinaigrette dressing made it the perfect balance of flavor and fullness. It was such a different combination and I was glad I decided to be adventurous and try it! Unfortunately, they accidentally gave me buffalo chicken soup and not tomato basil, which was extremely disappointing, but it tasted delicious! The ambiance in the restaurant was urban and inviting.
