The place itself had atmosphere. You could see it wanted to be appreciated, like a dog that rolls over and begs you to scratch its belly. The lights were just right, the tables set neat, and for a minute you thought, this might be a fine evening. Well, that dinner was about as memorable as a rerun of "Hee Haw" without the banjo. I must give credit where credit is due: that artichoke and chipotle dip was the lone bright spot of the whole evening. It was actually memorable--and not in the way the cold potatoes were memorable, either. That dip came out warm, smoky, and downright pleasant, the kind of thing that makes you forget for a minute you're sitting in a place where the meatloaf looks like it was cut with a hatchet. The Cobb salad looked like it had been constructed by somebody who once read about lettuce in a magazine. French dressing? More like somebody emptied a bottle of Kraft barbecue sauce on top and called it gourmet. Now the meatloaf--Lord help us. The potatoes were colder than my ex-wife's heart, and the sauce wasn't on the meat so much as it was near the meat, like it had been waiting on a bus for the last hour. They gave me three odd-shaped hunks of loaf that didn't look like they belonged to the same cow, let alone the same recipe. The peppers and onions were the only things that acted like they wanted to be eaten. My son and daughter in law fared no better, and I saw the look on their faces--the kind of look folks get when they realize they drove across town for something that could've been microwaved at home. Meanwhile the waiter continually looked like we were interrupting his plans to quit tonight. The manager--he was a good man. Came over, apologized like he'd personally set the oven wrong, and seemed like he actually cared whether we lived or died after that dinner. On him alone, I might saddle up and give the place one more chance. But next time, I'll be bringing a ham sandwich in the glove box--just in case.

I had the BBQ baby back ribs with corn and cornbread, which were all very good. Our server was good too. Ambiance is about the same as most large restaurants.

    Pulled pork sliders

Food was amazing! My daughter enjoyed the "washed bourbon" old fashion with richer tones. She had the roasted chicken (plus yams) that was amazing. I enjoyed the pull pork sliders. Cornbread was delicious. Really, atmosphere, food and drink were outstanding. This restaurant is rated #1 on yelp and I understand why.

Holy Marconi & Cheese Batman! The food smelled soo go from down the street I had to give it a try. It was so good! You have to give this place a try. The service was quick and delightful!

Saddest nachos in town only $16

One of my favorite places to go in town definitely let me down tonight from eating raw meat too sad nachos. Definitely not the best thing when you have to stop at fast food after leaving a restaurant and still getting charged to $60

Excellently executed rustic western design and feel. Their wine selection is well suited to accompany the menu and satisfy the tastes of red and white lovers. Cocktails seem equally appealing though I am not as well versed there. We sat at the bar to get in quick and have more chances for local conversations. That worked out well! Friendly fast service with professional presentation while never being pretentious.

Celebrated my soon to be father in laws birthday at ROAM! This place is great and it is very nice on the inside and the outside is even better! We had a really nice waitress who was great to be around but there were some wrong orders that were brought out and an item or two that weren't supposed to be on the receipt. It really was not a big deal because our waitress was awesome but I'll still put it on the rating. The food was good but I wouldn't say it was as good for the prices. The lamb was lukewarm and it also did not have that much flavor alongside the macaroni and cheese. Everything else hit the spot and I will definitely say the ribs is WHERE ITS AT! Definitely order the ribs when you go. I will be going again in the future. Overall I rate it a 3.5!

Nice outdoor patio. Service was great. The smoked grapes salad good. Walleyed fingers, deviled eggs, salmon -average.

Had the beef brisket. That was the worst food I've had in some time. I felt like I was eating meat from a dumpster. Will not ever go back.

Ask the Community - ROAM Kitchen + Bar

I'm looking for steakhouses and Roam keeps coming up. My question how does having 1 steak on the menu classify this place as a "steakhouse"? I guess my definition is different. SD raises the best beef in the nation yet hardly any restaurants serve it

Hi Justin, Thank you for reaching out! I believe Yelp or user feedback may have us classified as a steakhouse - normally we do offer several more steak options however, due… Read more

This was the sweetest and most caring thing a restaurant has done for us even when they did not need to. They really went out of their way to give us a special night. This place is beautiful and perfectly decorated. It was a nice romantic night with some of the most fantastic food I have tried! We tried the 5 course tasting menu and it blew us away! One of the dishes were Beets and I don't even like beets but they made it taste so delicious I really don't know how they did it. Favorite dish was the fish dish in garlic sauce. We were blown away with all of the flavors we had that night. Like I said, please please please try this place at least once in your life!

The food alone or the wine alone are very, very good. Some of the dishes are divine, even. But it is in the pairing that the meal transcends, the components complementing and elevating each other. The menu changes constantly, kept current to Chef Bryan's dictates. So I won't try to predict or offer a guarantee that elements of my meal will be available. Instead, I can tell you of the harmony in flavors and textures found in my seared foie gras with black walnut marmalade and fig sorbet. or the surprise of how the slight formaldehyde note that lingered a bit past midway taste in the 2017 Hourglass Blueline Merlot disappeared and the wine gained complexity and harmony paired with the Roquefort toast. It is an art worth a detour to taste. Supported by the city, it has the promise of becoming worthy a journey on its own. Look
