So good. Got the smoked grape salad. Very refreshing with grapes and smoked chicken, bacon (a little tough), and almonds. The delicious dressing had a touch of something spicy and goat cheese. There was a little too much dressing. The bed of lettuce was a mix of arugula and mostly iceberg. Also got the ribs and they were really good. Mac and cheese was ok. The decor of this restaurant was very homey and welcoming. We wanted to enjoy some good food after being on the road all day and are soo glad we chose ROAM. The atmosphere is good, the service was not very good for lots of reasons including they all just huddle around each other and talk and joke instead of helping customers, and the food, pretty much terrible dressed to look good. It's like lipstick on a chicken. The plates were too big for the amount of food, my rare steak was hardly even pink, the Brussels sprouts were obviously from some place like Cisco and were way too young to harvest and cook. They were also fried in a ton of oil and not cooked long enough so they were like rocks. It was a place I would never go back to and probably only does ok because most people that were there thought they were going to fine dining and don't know what fine dining is. It was a flop completely, and when you are in Sioux Falls, just go to Jacky's and get some of the best Mexican food you will ever have. Cheers! read more

I chose this restaurant because of the stellar reviews on Yelp, but our experience was far from stellar, rather a comedy of errors. I'm not sure if we were an exception to others' dining experiences; but if your restaurant seats 500, then you better be sure you can handle that many customers. First off, the majority of our table was going to order ribs, but the waiter said they ran out as they always do on Saturdays. Then why not make more Ribs? Then, someone at our table ordered a starter salad, but he had to keep reminding them to bring out the salad. We waited a long time for our food (see comment above about seating 500 people), and when it came it was cold. My dad ordered a Ribeye medium, but he sent it back because it was cold, and they just reheated it so it became well done, not what he ordered. My mom ordered scallops, and which she said were flavorful but cold. The dish came with 5 scallops and some diced vegetables. For a $24 dish, it didn't even come with bread. Her Bloody Mary also had no garnishes like celery or olives. The service was very confusing because they told us we had a new waiter because our former waiter had a death in the family, but for awhile we had two waiters who were confused. It was like the staff didn't know who was waiting on which table. The high point was the manager gave us free dessert for our trouble. This birthday dinner was memorable, but for the wrong reasons! read more

Excellent food! I had the ribeye, which was cooked perfectly. Others in my party also enjoyed their dishes. The rotisserie chicken, beef brisket, and bison burger were all exceptional. The service was fine, but took far too long between visits and we ended up at the restaurant for 2.5 hours, mostly because the server only showed up to our table every 20-30 minutes. The Chislic was not as good as I've had in other establishments in Sioux Falls. I'd still go back for that ribeye any time though! read more

I was happily surprised to walk into ROAM. It has that vibe, the one that just makes you feel on vacation. Bad experience from hostess to dessert. Our hostess was confused about where to seat us and we were the only customers in the place. Our server was trying to be personable. In fact at one point my husband had to get up and go find him. The food was not even close to being worrh what it cost. $27 for 6 dollar sized scallops. The meal came with a wilted tomato salad with some tiny pieces of yam thrown in. No salad, no bread. The pork belly pastrami board was mostly unbalanced. 6 complete bites and the rest of the dish was potato-less. It was simply cold uncured bacon on a wooden slab. That one ran $10.50. We finally ordered some cornbread (another $2.50). It was extremely dry and slathered with what I thought tasted like solidofied movie theater butter. The creme brulee was free. However it was to-go and came served in a box large enough to have put both our meals in. It looked like scrambled eggs with a leaf. We won't go back. read more

This property is beyond gorgeous and our waitress was top notch! I just wish I could say I was as impressed with their food. My daughter did LOVE her sirloin and garlic mashed potatoes, but the Walleye fingers had a soggy breading and were flavorless. The Mac and Cheese had a grittiness, and was not creamy at all AND sadly the Artichoke dip was SUCH a small portion it was unimpressive as well. This place seems like it wants to be higher end with the interior, menu, pricing but it's not. We sat and waited over 10 min for a server to come to our table and it was not busy at all. She smelled like cigarettes as well. The food itself was just okay. They have "crispy Brussel sprouts" on the menu but they were unbelievably soggy. It was cut off of the fat cap and was served very very little meat itself. The side of Mac and cheese was a throw away. The second dish tried was the potato encrusted walleye. That was delicious. The green beans with this dish could have used another 30-45 second cooking time. They were basically raw. My wife and I ate here this week and we really enjoyed our experience. Kudos to the front-of-house that greeted everyone warmly. The restaurant is clean with a rustic look...balanced and tasteful. The food was cooked to order, the mixed drinks we ordered (her, the Moscow Mule and me, the Maple Bacon Manhattan) were tasty and well-concocted. We had the cornbread and the soup for appetizers. We found this spot on yelp while traveling through Sioux Falls. I picked it because they had decent reviews, and served cocktails, salads and beef. When following the directions there we ended up in a mall parking lot and I was concerned we were headed to a food court. But we were pleasantly surprised to find a very large restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating available. It was warm so we sat inside to take advantage of the AC. We were seated at a huge booth and all the tables/booths looked like they had ample room and were comfortable. We had a few cocktails which I would say were just average. I also had a side salad which was ok. But our meals were delicious! I had the pork shoulder and my boyfriend had the roasted chicken. The chicken is a huge portion. That Manhattan was amazing a totally different flavor profile. The spinach artichoke fondue was another unique flavor. It was creamy without being overly rich. For entrées, i had half of the rotisserie chicken, and my husband had the potato crusted walleye. That chicken was so moist and flavorful, The flavors were a perfect blend of smoke almost blackened seasoning. I arrived around 7pm on a Thursday night and was seated on the patio. I'm usually pretty lenient when service is lacking as I've worked in the service industry but our service was awful. The waitress had mentioned she'd worked there for several years. We started with a couple of waters, a cider and an old fashioned. She forgot our waters but brought them later. There was a man walking around bothering people that the establishment ended up calling the police on. We ordered the shrimp Ceviche as an appetizer, this was absolutely delicious! I ordered the chicken with mac and cheese and a side of brussel sprouts. The chicken was very dry as was the mac and cheese, I would not recommend either of these menu items. I would recommend the brussel sprouts and the cornbread was good. My friend ordered the ribeye and he said it was very good. Our waitress never did a check back to see how we were enjoying our meal but I did flag her down to ask for a box and order dessert which was absolutely delicious. Our waitress brought us our bill before we received our dessert and asked if the dessert was on the ticket... Assuming she forgot if she put it in. The menu stated we would get broccolini, and when the order came we all had Brussel sprouts. We weren't told about the vegetable change and I know most people were not happy with Brussel sprouts so many of us did not touch them which also felt very wasteful. This was a great find while we were visiting South Dakota. The patio is spacious and gracefully decorated. Service was attentive and friendly. The fried walleye went down well with the summit EPA. The wild rice and string bean were great accompaniments. The ribeye steak coupled with the red blends sated my palette.
