The service was amazing, and our server was incredibly friendly and patient while explaining the menu and helping us choose. His recommendations were spot on. One of the biggest highlights of the night was the live singer who performs a few times throughout the evening. It added so much to the experience and made the whole atmosphere feel special. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has such a warm, inviting vibe. Something I really appreciated is that they truly take their time with your order because everything is made fresh to order. This is definitely not a quick "in and out" kind of place, and that's exactly what I loved about it. It's meant for slowing down, enjoying the company you're with, and soaking in the experience. This is a very spacious place with both tables and booths, for your preference. The decor is based on different Argentinian pictures, art displays and colorful walls. The music was low enough to not interrupt the patrons conversations, but loud enough to enjoy the non-stop melodies such as lounge, flamenco and tango. Service was detailed and attentive. The order came with 3 red meat not too big not too small sized. The Parrilla Argentina is a shareable dish. If you don't like meat, then this isn't your dish. Chicken, ribs, pork, steak and some of the cow's inside (tripas) This dish comes with two sides. We chose French fries and green salad. Overall, service and the food were excellent. This was our first trip to this fantastic restaurant. We tried two kinds of empanadas, the beef and the chicken. Both were excellent in flavor and spice and blended well with the herb dipping sauce. My wife had the Argentinian lasagna made with crapes as opposed to noodles for a lighter version of a classic dish and I had the Argentinian shepherds pie. Portion size of each of these plates were enormous with plenty to take home. You could really taste the herbs and spices in each bite, but nothing over bearing or too strong. A great mix of flavors. Good food and ambience. We ordered the NY steak and instead of asking for medium I would recommend to ask for medium rare.

Starting with the Ambiance. The Resturaunt is large enough that you can get in without a reservation with no wait but small enough to feel personal. Decor is Latin, Argentinian, and music is at a comfortable level of the same ethnicity. They have a good number of professional wait staff providing service with an excellent knowledge of the food and wines. If you want to come at a time you think will be busy go ahead and make a reservation just in case. We have never had to wait even when they appeared full and the table has always been very good. The food is prepared by chefs not just hired cooks preparing a stock menu and it is incredible. From the Chefs Choice menu to the Pastry Chefs deserts the food is authentic and cooked to perfection. We choose to dine out less and visit the very best we can find in the Sioux Falls market and Tarquin is on the top of a short list of Chef led restaurants. On my last visit I asked for a dinner which included Salmon, Marlin Steak, Ribeye Steak, Spiced Shrimp, Scallops, Garlic Potatoes, Asparagus and salad with house made balsamic vinaigrette. It was perfect. Yes, some went home as it was a large portion of all. If you wish to change amounts of seasoning it is up to you to do so to your liking. The wait staff encourages it. Off the beaten path but noticed very good reviews on this place so wanted to give it a try. I don't know maybe we went on an off night but did not have a good experience. The service was super slow even though they where not busy, our waitress barely spoke, super quiet and literally came to check on us once and was no where to be found when we had a few issues. First off Churrasco steak is supposed to be skirt steak not a chewy New York strip, it was super rare and had to be sent back, the chimichurri was good, they forgot the salad on one plate, the beef Milanesa came out cold and super oily, tasted more like liver than steak, fries where cooked in old oil and cold, beef empanadas had good flavor but the center was ice cold so pretty sure they weren't fresh. They did come out to apologize and offered us a free dessert but after all the issues we just wanted to leave and declined to offer. The inside of the restaurant is really very nice with a large wine list it's a shame the food and service was not up to par. read more

Sioux Falls has several very fine restaurants. And is lucky to have such a special place as Tarquin. Don't let it's location throw you. Its kitty corner across from Mac's. It's not that far away. Just east of the airport about a mile. Nice atmosphere. Feels as if you are in much larger city. Wonderful wine selection, as Argentina produces some of the world's best. Family run. The owner even blessed us twice with his beautiful voice in song. Seemed like an experience; more than just a meal. The menu is dominated by traditional meats and incredible pastas. We had the cannelloni and the ravioli pastas. Wow! Then our group also shared a variety meat offering. Said that it fed 2-3 people but honestly with that dish's two sides and an additional pasta you could have fed six easy! Prices are very reasonable given the serving sizes. Desserts offered were a variety of beautiful cakes. People aren't joking when they say the empanadas are fresh and good. We tried a couple types - spinach and beef. Loved both of them. This is also a place that kids should be able to easily enjoy what's available. We love supporting local restaurants. Make the short trip on north Cliff you won't be sorry. Disgusting!!! This was the worst dining experience that I have ever had. The server was extremely slow. None of the staff seemed very sure about what the food was or what items would come with each menu item. The prices were outrageous and the quality of food was very poor. At our table, they served someone raw chicken, a raw steak, my entire meal seemed like warmed up food from the day before and massively overcooked. When sent back, all of the food brought back was totally different than what we ordered originally and wasn't much better. It cost us $70 for me and my wife to eat there. That's with no drinks. Just 1 soda. I was shocked to see positive reviews on this place. There is no way that my experience was just a bad night for them. It came across as a usual night for them. Never again!!! read more

This is a very nice place to eat at an easy location. Our group started with a variety of empanadas, each were delicious with a light crust. My date and I shared the Parrillada Argentina platter with a variety of meats and a side of chimichurri sauce. Way to much to eat, so most of it came home with us. We had one person in our group that was gluten intolerant, and the kitchen made an adjustment so they could enjoy the apps. That says a lot. Great not to hear "no, we can't/won't do that". Limited, but good beer selection. Very good wine selection. The owner stopped by our table to chat and be sure everything was great. Again, says a lot. One in our group called their steak the best they have had in a very long time! Don't let the location hold you back. It is a quick, easy on/off from I-229 and Benson Road. And you can get in! Definitely start with some empanadas, I tried the La Boca, light soft almost crispy dough super stuffed with spiced ground beef, onions, red peppers, and jalapeños. Wow the textures and spices were just perfect, the veggies were fresh tasting and the meat was just great. Not to greasy or dry. Just right. They come three to an order and will appetize two normal people or one hungry me. The dip it is served with is a combination of spices and maybe vinegar or vinaigrette maybe that was light and delicious too. Maybe a chimichurri? I also had the Chicken Tarquin wow, it was a little like a beef stroganoff sauce but lighter with perfectly cooked hunks of chicken with mushrooms and peppers and onions. The onions especially were roasted or something beforehand. Very flavorful. Hoping to come back and try a steak dish.
