If you're on the road to Hana, two gems which were there end of OCT 2011 (but I had never seen previously) were the "Coconut Buns" at a small unmanned stand and the various lilikoi at the "Real Chinese Food" place.

NOTE2: Don't get the food at the Chinese place, just the fresh fruit. They carried 3 types of lilikoi (passion fruit)--the normal Hawaii kind, a variety that is GIANT [I didn't even believe her that it was lilikoi, it was bigger than a LARGE papaya] with large seeds and super jucy, and Jamaican passion fruit (which I think you can also sometimes get at the Kailua farmer's market on Oahu) which is much sweeter than normal lilikoi (technically, I guess, it isn't as tart as other varieties). read more
