The frozen drinks looked good but we didn't have the opportunity to try any! A bunch of cool spots to hang out in here too, and this photo is taken from the top of a bus on the property!

We were the only customers there! I had seen on-line that three food trucks would be present, but there were just two -The Gulla Grille (Brazilian) and Taste of Home (Puerto Rican). Aunties Pasta (Italian) wasn't there. The designers of Westside really need to get a lot of credit for the beautiful job they did in salvaging this forlorn corner of Hartford. The dozens of wood tables and benches were made from old recycled industrial spools, and they are really amazing. There are corn hole boards, beer pong table, Giant Jenga, Connect Four, a movie screen, a music stage, and a bar spread throughout the property so there's a ton of things to do there. I had a kebab plate from Gulla and my wife had a cheeseburger from Taste of Home. She was given one of those buzzing gizmos to tell her when her food was ready. I knew my lunch was ready when the guy flagged me down like he was hailing a cab. I love the concept of food truck courts and I suspect Westside is quite a bit busier in the evenings that it was lunch time on a holiday weekend Saturday, when we had the place to ourselves..

I've got a hot water bottle, but nothing i've got'll take the place of you holdin me tight. I've got steam heat". (from the 1954 Broadway musical The Pajama Game) Steamed cheeseburgers seem to be a Connecticut thing, and Meriden, CT's Ted's Restaurant might be Ground Zero for the genre. It was established in 1959 and soon became a popular destination for Meriden's many factory workers who worked around the clock. Td's stayed open until 4 AM to accommodate them. Ted's doesn't fry their burgers in a pan or grill them on a grill. Nope - they steam them in a steel cabinet and serve them with a scoop of melted cheese and your choice of free toppings, like ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce tomato, chopped onions, pickles or even bacon. Their food truck is named "Steam Machine" and it was at Cheshire Craft Brewing today. In fact, it's there every Friday night and weekends. It can also be found at Hartford area attractions like Bushnell Park, the Xfinity Theatre, and at Pratt & Whitney Stadium for UConn Huskies football games. Our cheeseburgers were $8 each and they were great! I will defer to Yelper Keli R's epic description below: "Slathered high, drippy, messy, greasy with fresh vegies. It was a b*tch to eat and worth all the struggle". Yes, they sure were Keli.
