We finally made it to their new location in the Carson Plains Casino on Hwy 50. It was so nice to see the same staff and visit with Shannon. Food and service are great as always. Ambiance its nicely nostalgic. The paraphernalia that was under the tabletop glass in the old booths is now framed and on the walls, along with the various signs and artwork. The new place is more spacious, with more tables and booths, which Shannon continues to service with her exuberant charm. They get just as busy (even busier) than at the old location, so anticipate a wait during prime hours. It's worth it. Came in for breakfast, eggs hash browns patty sausage and sourdough toast. I specifically asked for my hash browns to be unseasoned cooked very well done top and bottom. Most places simply throw whatever is on the grill on the plate regarding the hash browns and that's that. It took a little extra time to cook those hash browns the way I liked them and the cook knocked it out of the ballpark. The eggs were perfectly over easy, toast is perfectly toasted, the patty sausage was delicious and not super greasy. I'll definitely be eating here again. read more

Just a little diner in Dayton Nevada on highway 50 but it produces the most delicious breakfasts. The restaurant is open from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. there are half a dozen tables and a counter with chairs. The owner is always there serving breakfast and lunch to her patrons. The coffee is delicious and hot and constantly being refilled in your cup. Today we decided to try the chicken fried steak and the biscuits and gravy. Both platters were overflowing with good food. there are numerous options to choose from and numerous sides to go with plus loads of fresh homemade bread to accompany your meal. The restaurant is clean and very cutely designed as a roadside cafe. You will not leave hungry and the prices are great. I highly recommend you checking this spot out. read more

The new Roadrunner cafe in Dayton Nevada on the loneliest highway 50. Inside the casino Carson Plains. Good parking for the small town, but inside an older casino that smells of smoke. Bathrooms are close to restaurants, seats about 60 or more guests. Sunday had a 30 minute wait. Service was good and friendly. Coffee could be better and food was really good and priced reasonably but a bit high for this area. This restaurant is geared towards conservative politically. TV inside with local channels that was covering news. Clean, fast and friendly atmosphere. read more

Roadrunner was clean and the upgrades to the restaurant look nice. Shannon is a wonderful and friendly server. She definitely makes the visit worth the time. Today I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito and substituted fries for the potatoes. The burrito was ok. There was very little bacon and the burrito was overall bland. The burrito was large in size. I was craving fries and so I was sad when most of my fries were extremely undercooked to the point of raw. I have heard that the food is better when one of the guys are cooking instead of the lady that was today so I hope I will experience one of them cooking on my next visit. read more

Tasted a piece of his chicken and I would have to say it was amazing! If they have fried chicken like that I'm game. I had a patty melt with cottage cheese. Not sure why yet it seemed to lack flavor. If you have ever been to Dayton NV you know very well the options for lunch are slim to none. Roadrunner Cafe is one of the two non fast food spots in town. It's a small hole in an old strip mall. Pulling in you know it's gonna be a place where you are going to get simple food. No fancy's sauces, no fancy options and nothing "organic" lol. Yes, they are not spotless clean but they are also not filthy. Before even walking in you know what you are going to get inside cleanliness wise. So judging or expecting it to be spotless clean is foolish and honestly dumb imo to rate/judge. Everything is old school diner and honestly if you complain a little too much I'm sure they going to old school kick you out before giving you a discount. I came with a colleague and we both had similar expectations. We wanted someone fresh cooked for us and that's exactly what we got. For the same price as a fast food combo we got a fresh southwest scramble with a coffee. I'll take that 10/10 times over some fast food garbage. I am not in Dayton very often for lunch but I can see myself coming back. read more

I'll give this a two star rating because the food was good and the service was great. Not sure if Lyon County has a health inspection program, for if they did, this place would fail. Dirty silverware, dirty glasses (complete with fingerprints), nasty ass crusty stuff on the menus. The seats at the booth were covered with crumbs from wiping the tables. The walls, floors and ceiling were no better. As for the bathroom.... The broken toilet seat, overflowing trash can and dirty fixtures all reminded me of a highway rest stop or a homeless camp. If you're planning on eating here, make sure your vaccinations are up to date. read more

Cash only diner. Mediocre food with no prices what so ever on the menu. We waited 40 minutes for our food with a toddler. People that came in after us had their meal and left. They didn't own up to the extremely long wait -- forgetting us. No toasted bread on my sandwich and the biscuits and gravy are from a store bought package. Nothing authentic. Food and service is good, which we've never complained but you need to put the prices back on the menu. We did not appreciate not being able to see what they charged us for what we ordered when the bill came and we were with another couple and we couldn't know how to split the bill at the table for each order. If there was an error, we wouldn't know it. We were disappointed on the excuse they used for why they didn't have prices on their menu. We will probably not return unless they put prices on your menu or at least itemize what they charged us for on the bill. Don't be lazy you're dealing with customers that pay your salary. read more

I've driven past the restaurant several hundred times without noticing it, but my wife and I had lunch here today and had a wonderful meal. Our waitress (Shannon) added to our enjoyment. She couldn't have been more attentive and had a terrific personality. Patty Melt for me and the Classic Ruben for my wife. Both were really good along with the beer battered onion rings. It's truly a spot where locals go for breakfast and lunch. It's not fancy.....just the way we like it. Loved the "Beware of Attack Waitress" sign. Out exploring we decided it was time to have a little breakfast and we found this place with good reviews and sure glad we did. Great service and food looked like a nice local spot was pretty busy but we were able to get a seat and served pretty quick. They are definitely efficient handling a packed house. I ordered a fabulous omelet that came with hash browns or country potatoes and toast and it was delicious and really hit the spot after our little hike earlier. Haven't been to the Roadrunner in years. Thought we'd give it a try again. Very disappointing. Start with the menu having no prices, perfect for inflation, not great if you are trying to decide to eat there. Took forever for the waitress to take our order. My husband's meal came first, and the after a few minutes mine. Mine did not come with the bacon I ordered. The waitress never came back to our table and had a lovely time chatting with the other tables. Finally got up and asked for the bacon. By the time it came out my husband had finished his meal, mine was cold. Two stars for the hash and eggs, which my husband liked, otherwise a zero! So if you like guessing what you'll pay, like waiting and getting an incomplete food order at a place that wasn't even busy, Roadrunner is for you! read more

We love the Roadrunner Cafe. It's great for Breakfast and Lunch. The staff is always friendly. The only con is the seating (which is the reason for only 4 stars). Sometimes it gets a bit tight and sometimes the table next too you pushes their booth back which causes your booth seating to get pushed right up against the table. If you go I recommend sitting at a table with Chairs, a corner booth, bar or outside if it's busy. read more
