I was curious about this diner the other day when I passed it I came here today and tried it.And it didn't disappoint.I ended up getting the breakfast burrito which was filled with ham, sausage, bacon, potato n eggs n a side order of salsa Very yummy.I ended up bringing some of it home. The service here is awesome Plenty of parking as it has its own lot. I recommend this place

I have fallen in love with this local restaurant, from their donuts, specialized coffee and this delicious chicken fried steak. I love the welcoming environment including the chef coming out and talking story. Such a great place

Their "Iced Coffee" is literally brewed coffee poured into a cup of ice. It's watered down and priced high.

I visited Madein for the first time after reading about them in Edible Reno-Tahoe magazine, and I'm…read moreso glad I finally stopped in! I went for lunch and tried their 2 for $20 special, choosing the chilled celery soup and the Alpine sandwich. Both were delicious and full of flavor. My only suggestion for next time would be to ask them not to toast the focaccia. It was a little too hard to bite into, but aside from that, the sandwich was excellent. I also had the chance to try one of their meatballs with their house-made marinara sauce, and it was delicious. One of the things I really enjoyed about Madein is that almost everything on the menu is made in-house, with some ingredients sourced fresh from local producers. You can really taste the care that goes into the food. The service was wonderful as well. My server, Seirra, was very friendly and attentive. The owner, Shawn, was kind enough to come by and say hello and even walked me through some of the dinner specials. I also had the pleasure of meeting his wife, Marsha, who works there and was equally warm and welcoming. Overall, I had a great first experience at Madein and would definitely come back to try more of the menu--especially dinner!

This cute little Italian restaurant was recommended to us by one of my BF's coworkers, and while we can see the potential, it'll be a hard pass for us until they improve their kitchen pacing and service. We made a last minute reservation for Friday 6 pm (with the table being held until 7:45) and were seated promptly upon arrival. However, it took almost one hour and a half to get any of our dishes, and tables next to us were having similar issues, with one party only receiving half of their dishes (the other half wasn't entered into the kitchen queue correctly). We had to continuously check in with our server ourselves regarding our food, which was quite frustrating, although we appreciated how she ended up comping part of our bill. While we understand that she was quite frazzled and the restaurant was understaffed, I still think the restaurant would benefit from better staff training, especially during busy dinner rush hour. The food itself was hit and miss, but I was quite impressed by several of their seasonal items, which included a salad and lobster risotto (recommended to us by our server), and I hope they can incorporate it into their menu permanently. The squid ink pasta and crab linguine (also seasonal), however, were quite flavorless (and this is coming from a low sodium girly). Cocktails were alright as well, and I would recommend ordering from their wine menu instead, which includes several excellent Italian and local wine options.

I will never recommend this place to anybody. I have a horror story about their wedding venue; but…read morefirst let me start with the coffee. I came here about a month ago with my mother to go over the final details of her wedding which was taking place in their backyard area. I should preface that I have worked in coffee for over a decade and own my own shop. The baristas here seemed incredibly inexperienced, and were confused when I ordered an espresso. It was served to me in a 12oz plastic cup, was completely black with no layers at all and tasted horrendous. Now onto the wedding. The woman who runs this place, Brandy, is the most unprofessional business owner I have ever encountered. A month before the wedding, everything was figured out and fine. I met with her myself to make sure everything was in order. We were assured we would have access to the venue starting at 10am so we would have time to have flowers and cake delivered, decorate, etc. The MORNING OF the wedding, she tells us her staff won't be at the venue until 1pm, four hours before the ceremony. This meant we could not have the cake or flowers there earlier, and we could not decorate anything as the tables, chairs, bar, etc. would not be set up. When we finally got there, her and a bunch of kids were hosing everything down from the wedding the night before. A lot of the area remained wet as guests were arriving. We immediately noticed that the wrong number of tables and chairs were set up, the bar was in a completely different location from what we had discussed, and the bride and groom table was also in a completely different spot. There was literally no space for a dance floor, which we explicitly talked about having. There was also no microphone available at the venue, and their music system was horrible. The owner was dressed in sweatpants the entire night and had a sour, angry look on her face. She was in a bad mood and was extremely rude. Guests made comments about it to me and my mother. At one point, she was sitting behind the bar and talking to a few of our guests about how taking over a coffee shop was the worst thing she ever did as it's so stressful and difficult. Very professional. They started serving ice cream before we had even cut the cake. This prompted us to ask for a knife so we could start dishing out the cake, but she rudely said this was "not their responsibility". They finally gave it to us but it was like pulling teeth. The reception was supposed to go until 9pm, but she and a bunch a kids started tearing down the tables and decor at 8:40pm, while guests were still there. On the bright side, it was definitely a night we will never forget! If you choose to have your wedding here, be warned that you will be met with exceptionally horrible service and attitude. I am shocked they even function as a cafe with how awful the coffee was.

Inside seating was mainly stools along the front window with excellent views of the trees and water. I really liked that there was a central coat tree where you could hang your heavy coat, especially with the limited seating. Some tables outside as well for sunny days. Interesting menu that blends standard breakfast with some healthier add-ins like quinoa instead of rice. Food tasted fresh, supporting their goal to serve natural, organic, and local ingredients. I opted for the Sunrise Sliders, and had no complaints. I particularly liked that the pretzel buns weren't too dense and didn't overwhelm the other ingredients. I was given the option to add pesto, and it added great texture and flavor. Great showcasing of local products like bagels from Tahoe Bagel Co. and Blind Dog Coffee.

The interior is nice and cozy (and warm), with light reggae music playing in the background. There're only two tables; the rest of the seating is VERY comfortable bar seating. With two walls of windows showing beautiful Lake Tahoe views--plenty of trees and the lake itself--there's plenty of morning light coming through. I was happy that they were serving smooth Laughing Dog coffee--a favorite. And the food came out quick and delicious, with a nice crisp on my burrito wrapper. The menu is limited, but what they do they do creatively and well--the quinoa in my burrito went great with the eggs, beans, and sausage, and they told my wife they were experimenting with their already creative pretzel bun sunrise sliders by adding pesto--a perfect extra optional touch for her.

First impressions? The interior is super cozy and nicely decorated. It almost feels like a little experience just walking in. I came here looking for a quiet spot to enjoy some coffee and catch up on homework, and the atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping for. They offer complimentary Wi-Fi, which I appreciated, although the connection was a little spotty. I kept getting kicked off the network in the middle of my assignments, which got a bit annoying. I ordered a large hot Cinnamon Bear, and WOW, they weren't kidding about the size. That thing was practically an extra large. The coffee itself was delicious, though. Not too sweet, not too bitter, just perfectly balanced. It had this smooth, rich cinnamon flavor that coated your tongue with every sip. Definitely the highlight of my visit. The pastries were a little underwhelming. I wish they had more savory options, but if you've got a sweet tooth, they have your usual muffins and scones. Nothing too fancy. I ended up ordering a ham, cheese, and jalapeño croissant, which unfortunately got forgotten about, but it was the girl's first day, so no harm done! Service felt a little socially awkward, but nothing that would keep me from coming back. Overall, I'd definitely give this place another visit, especially for studying. The atmosphere was comfortable, and that coffee genuinely felt like a warm hug in a cup.

This is a lovely cafe but the service I received was pretty poor…read more When you first walk in, you'll notice that it is a big open concept space with seating, and a small shop setup in the front. For the shop part, there's some baked goods and sort of deli items you can purchase--almost like a little market. For their restaurant portion, you'll actually have to order at the register and get a number. You can also order the baked items to enjoy at the counter. There were so many unique baked items that looked delicious. As my friend and I awaited to order, we looked over the menu. Prices seemed to be as expected for a place that looks this pretty. When I got to one of the female cashiers, she was not very friendly. She did not smile the whole time, and she made it seem like I was inconveniencing her from the get go, even though I had my order ready to go and I greeted her with a smile. I went ahead and ordered a crispy brunch potatoes and subbed the bacon for the mushroom which is noted to be the vegetarian option; she did have to quickly clarify whether I wanted to add mushrooms vs subbing, so I clarified. I also tried to order a latte with oat milk with their brown butter marzipan house syrup. She was trying to enter the drink order to the tablet and told me that she didn't have the brown butter marzipan button to select on her tablet and that they had brown sugar cinnamon. She tried to explain to me that brown sugar cinnamon and brown butter marzipan are the same. I was very confused by that comment, as that's not true, otherwise why are they separate names/labels? She asked if I wanted to get brown sugar cinnamon instead, and I told her no thanks, and asked to cancel the drink order. When I'm trying a new restaurant, I want to try the unique options. She then gave me a questioning, "are you serious" look, and confirmed if I wanted to cancel, and I said yes. Then I went ahead and paid, she didn't even say 'thank you' to close off, and wish I didn't tip her for that poor service...she wasn't even waiting my table... I don't expect service workers to chat me up, and all I expected was a "hi, what can I get for you?", "We don't have that, would you like something else?", and "Thank you." and also she should have either tried to figure out if 'brown butter marzipan' is in stock and that the button is just not on the tablet from a more senior staff member. It's on the menu, and I can get if you might be out of stock. Her overall reasoning just made it seem like she was being dishonest. I can't believe she tried to tell me essentially cinnamon and marzipan are the same with a bad attitude to top it all off. My friend also saw this interaction and was also frustrated by this experience. She noted that it seemed this lady's coworker noticed this poor interaction from the get go and that they seemed to try to compensate by giving friendlier service to my friend. I did notice later that this particular female cashier was smiling and friendly to other customers, so I have no idea what the problem was. I actually ended up going to the Perenn market that's located in the next building over and they did have brown butter marzipan syrup. I also told them about the above incident and they were unsure of the brown butter marzipan stock in the restaurant and were confused by how the cashier lady's comment how cinnamon and marzipan are the same, and they apologized for it even though they didn't have to. The person who served us our food was friendly. Later when I went to ask for a to-go box from a different cashier lady, this person was very friendly and accommodating. Other than that, portions seemed pretty large. I would say the crispy brunch potatoes were crispy as noted, adequately salted. I think there was some flavors they could add that would take the dish further. If they added avocado, that would be nice, or some citrus flavor. My friends ordered the traditional breakfast and they had varying experiences. Both of them were surprised by how large the dish was, however one person got scrambled eggs and the portion of eggs seemed way smaller than the one who got two sunny side up eggs. The potato pave had a flaked salt finish for one person, but not the other person, even though it wasn't a special request for either of them. The toast was delicious. It seems they use those large loaves, and give you two slices, to which they cut in half (you get 4 pieces of toast in total). Not sure what kind of bread they used, but the texture was lovely--crunchy crust and very soft center. With butter, the bread was perfect. They also used a very fresh peach jam. I would probably actually order this myself! Restroom was very clean and it is located in the back. There is also outdoor patio seating, which looked so nice. Overall, the restaurant is aesthetic, and food was pretty enjoyable, but the service was unfortunately lackluster.
