I stopped at the station because when I looked up gas stations online they showed the cheapest…read moreprice in the area. It's right near where I was staying so it was also very convenient. It was just after dark and I pulled in and right up to a pump. I went through the whole process of putting my credit card in the machine and choosing and it told me to see the cashier. I walked over inside and approached the two people working behind the counter and told them the pump told me to come see you. They were very friendly and helped me quickly. Apparently with their older pumps and system they have to run the credit cards inside so you have to choose an amount that you think you'll be putting in your vehicle. I just chose a bit higher than I knew it should take. I got a receipt and walked outside and started filling my vehicle. It came out considerably less and then I had to go back inside to get a receipt showing what I actually spent. Again they were helpful and efficient. Definitely a decent place to get your fuel.

I pulled up and filled my tank but it wouldn't print me a receipt so I had to walk inside and wait in line to get my receipt anyway. They were fairly quick and friendly.

That experience was awful too, as the employee cared more about the customers waiting inside the minimart as opposed to fixing the issue with me and getting me out of the car wash. In fact, the employee had to call his manager before I could even get out - an almost 20-minute ordeal! On the plus side, their mini-mart is average and is usually stocked well and notwithstanding that car wash issue, their employees are fairly friendly. Nonetheless, I would recommend going to another Shell station and skipping this one. Your overall experience will likely be better.

Anyway, for today Friday 7-25-2025, the surprising Cook County price leader for regular gas is Costco Oakbrook, and hooray for them! Here are the survey results fyi. Melrose Park was a very close second place in Cook County. DuPage County is cheaper than Lake County. The standings could probably change every day but I'm guessing not significantly but I may check again one day if curious and as usual not doing anything useful. Look at that WI vs IL spread, uugggh.
