While JJ wasn't the lowest, they were the most comprehensive. For example, all of the other quotes quoted the shingles and work, but JJ Construction quoted shingles, tiles, gutters, and all hardware (new fans/vents/gutters). They are highly skilled. They did not rush the project (who wants a roofer who rushes?) and cleaned up every day. Communication was excellent. They installed Class 4 shingles, which lowered my home owners insurance by 20%. He came by the next day on Sunday (what?!) and walked my husband through a then-potential job of of fixing our leaking patio roof and flue. He was also patient and answered questions I had and was very thorough at explaining everything. A surprising experience was that he did not try to sell us anything we didn't need. He explained what our options were, pros and cons of each, and what portions are optional to complete the work. His crew showed up 30 minutes earlier than their scheduled time (unheard of), and Eugene showed up shortly after to walk them through the job (I'm guessing). They were all very polite/respectful and cleaned up after themselves pretty well at the end of day one. I should note that the Village had some or other paperwork mishap and they were going to stop the work unless Eugene showed up to sort out permit stuff, which he did and no work was interrupted. The guys were done on day two, Eugene walked me through their work and invited me to come up to the roof, which I had to tactfully decline since my feet below on solid ground. My husband did go up later though, and reported a job well done. The chimney also looks much better now and doesn't seem to want to disintegrate any more. It has rained a number of times since the new patio roof is on, and it has not leaked since (so happy!) and the wood is not getting all rotted-out like before they ripped everything off.
