This was not my first bad experience here. Usually my issue isn't with food it's service. You guys service is so slow and I waited an hour for food to come out only to then be told you didn't have any steak available in the first place. I am diabetic and had already taken my insulin so had to rush out and find something else to eat so I didn't crash. I have given this place so many chances however I am done. My family LOVES RJ's! The staff is super friendly and always make great suggestions. I love that the owners always try to showcase local talent and support the local schools. They are giving and caring people who have donated a lot of time and catered food to such events. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. We decided to try RJ's via carry out this evening. We ordered a chicken sandwich, burger, kids grilled cheese, kids burger, and fried pickles. The fried chicken sandwich tasted burnt. Upon further investigation I found a large burnt spot on the chicken (see picture). The fries that came with were soggy and tasted of old burnt oil that needed to be changed. The burger that my wife had was obviously frozen beef that wasn't seasoned. The kids grilled cheese was on plain, inexpensive grocery mart sandwich bread. The kids burger was the exact same size as my wife's burger. The fried pickles were undercooked, flabby and not crispy at all. I understand there is some degradation in quality when you order carry out, but I picked the food up right as it came out of the kitchen and only live about 2 min away. The staff seemed friendly enough and the place was full (Valentine's Day). The decore is the same as when it was Double D's. The menu was basic and underwhelming. Nothing sounded exciting or interesting which can be a good thing if the food is done right. A fried chicken sandwich can blow your mind, a basic burger can be unforgettable. Our family grabs lunch at a different location weekly. This week, our party of 13 came here. Our server handled our large group well and did a great job of keeping drinks filled, checking on us and making sure our orders were all correct. Our group commented that this was the best lunch we've had on our weekly lunch visits. A few items that got rave reviews....Catfish, Breaded Chicken Tenders, Onion Rings and the Fried Chicken Salad. I was on my break had an hour to use plus I was already in Boonville so as I searched for restaurants nearby and Double D's popped up so I went out of curiosity and hungry as well. I had mentioned to my server if there was a dish that was served in short time so she had mentioned stuffed loaded potato or spud . I took her request of ordering grilled chicken and ranch spud excluding the bacon and boy was I stuffed no pun intended . We were camped at Scales Lake Park, so looked up local restaurants on Yelp to try for take out dinner. My husband had the catfish filet dinner and so had the breaded pork loin dinner. Both were great and piping hot, even by the time we got back to the campground. Really good mashed potatoes and peppery white gravy. We would definitely try them again when in the area! read more

This is one of my new favorite places to eat. They have great fried chicken. They have a brunch on Sunday from 11-2. It includes chicken, catfish, prime rib, breakfast items and made to order omelettes. I have yet to order anything but chicken, but my husband has tried several different things and has enjoyed them all. It gets very crowded on weekends and for the brunch. read more

My parents have been ranting and raving about this place for a while now. I thought it was just some crazy shenanigans. My wife and I took my parents out and we all decided on Double-D's. Well, it was delicious!!!! I had the pulled pork. It was great! The house-made BBQ sauce was excellent. They were short-staffed, but you would never know as our server was terrific. When you see the platters of food being served, the food jus LOOKS so good! Excellent chicken, steaks and burgers. The Tenderloin sandwich is big enough for two to share and very tasty. Prices look a little high but the value for what you get is excellent. My wife says Peanut Butter Pie best ever. Expect to wait a while for the food to be served. Our food was burnt and our waitress was just in the back. There was only us and two other tables. Fries were burnt and hard as a rock. Never got a drink refill. The gizzards didn't taste well and the catfish tasted like chicken. The waitress didn't even ask why we didn't like it. Waste of $40. Definitely won't come again. read more

We decided to dine at Double D's, as we are frequent customers when we eat in Boonville. They have a full bar, and a sizable dining room. We chose to sit at one of the many tables in the bar, and was promptly attended to by a server. One of the things that sets Double D's apart from its competition, is it's staff. Friendly, attentive, yet professional. They are well trained in seeing to your needs and wants, in an efficient manner. Although their menu is predictable considering the area in which they operate, there are some surprises therein that are worth a look. They have a flame grill, and they use it on the burgers and steaks. Also, the steak is done to order. We had the grilled chicken salad, with their special hot-bacon vinegrette. A full boiled egg sliced on that salad, a nice portion of chicken, grilled beautifully. Fresh. Presentation terrific! I highly recommend Double D's, any time you are traveling through, and it is worth a road-trip if you are looking for adventure. A group of 6 of us chose Double D's on Monday evening because we had heard they served excellent fried chicken. We were not disappointed. Some of us chose the traditional method..on the bone..and others chose the chicken tenders. One chose a mixture of livers and gizzards..and they all were freshly prepared and served steaming hot. Our server was very attentive to keeping our drinks filled and following up on anything we might need. Just one thought...since the chicken is freshly prepared for you..be prepared to give it time to cook! Order an appetizer if you arrive starving! I have also heard that their burgers and salads are great too...but we went for the chicken and we were all completely happy with Double D's. read more

It was pretty good food. The fries were bomb, the best i've ever had. However the bathrooms were not very clean. I got a salad and it was very good. Overall it is a decent restaurant they just need to clean the bathrooms and the water tasted like sink water. read more

Our family of 7 dined here on a Monday evening thinking we should be able to have good service without a long wait. We ordered 3 appetizers; a sampler (cannot recall what they call it) for $10 which came out highly disappointing in the amount received in addition to two orders of pickles which were fresh from the freezer into the fryer. Most if not all of the appetizer items (onion rings, mushroom, pickles, and cheese) were just frozen food which was not freshly prepared at the restaurant. I would NEVER order apps here again as we spent $20 on these three items and still was not adequate amount of food for seven people, three of which were children. The entree I chose was 2 piece fried chicken. Not surprisingly it appeared to also not have been prepared at the restaurant but instead yet another frozen item that was just dropped into the deep fryer. German potato side item came out and consisted of five thin slices of a potato. I would have expected AT LEAST double this portion to be average. The salad I ordered never was served though it was on my bill. I forgot that it never came out so I got taken on that item too. The rest of the food from the family was just okay. Nothing special or above average. I would NOT go back here simply because they cannot even serve freshly prepared food. I can goto Walmart and buy frozen food to drop in a fryer and get the same thing that most of our meal consisted of. Disappointing given how popular this restaurant is. read more

Food took forever and came out cold. Nothing seemed like it wouldve been good hot anyway. Beans are thick and paste like, pulled pork came out in nasty hunks, served with construction paper like skin of a potato, which was somewhere between microwaved and baked. My guest didnt eat but a single bite of his food and said he wouldnt eat it. When the manager became aware she discounted 2$ off of the ticket cost. This is embarassing. read more

Started with fried pickles and horseradish sauce. I had the fried chicken with beans and potato salad. It was excellent Better half had sirloin ordered medium rare with onion rings and baked potato. Had Dinner here tonight with 10 ladies after playing golf in Boonville. Service was a little slow, but several ordered fried chicken which takes while to prepare! Everyone raved about how good and fresh it was. Good portion on sides. I shared the chicken livers and gizzards they were delicious. Several had sandwiches all said they loved them. I brought a to go order of fried chicken home for my husband that is a fried chicken "connoisseur" he thought it was some of the best he has eaten! The rolls with Dinner are homemade and to die for!!
