One day years ago, one of the employees recognized me from years past. His name is Steve. This not only goes out to Steve, but it goes out to the entire staff on the floor. Shout out to the two gentlemen in the wine section. Outstanding service at Mission Wine & Spirits in Pasadena. I've known Steve for years, and he consistently goes above and beyond. I honestly thought that " they" the sales people that were somehow on commission. A couple of days ago Steve personally texted me when a new wine arrived that he knew I'd love. I talked and exchanged emails with the store manager for a couple of weeks including the day before the event to ensure that everything was good and ready to go and I got confirmation that all was well and ready to be delivered. The order was supposed to be delivered to the venue at 11am for the party which was starting at 6pm to allow time for bartender to refrigerate the beer and prepare for the event. I get a call from the venue 20 minutes before the party is starting telling me that the order was never delivered. I frantically call BevMo to find out what happened. The person that answered the phone had no clue so after my insistence, he said let me try to go check. He came back and calmly said "the order is in the back and it never went out". Didn't attempt to offer any resolution. After more insistence and back and forth, I finally convinced him to call the store manager. Thankfully they put a rush order on the delivery, but it arrived almost an hour after the event had started. I conveyed to the store manager how upset I was that things were late, that no one had contacted me, that guests would be served warm beer, etc. She said she would talk to her staff the following Monday to find out what happened to ensure it never happened again and that she would get back to me about how they could redress the situation. Monday came and went. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday... Finally on Friday I sent the manager an email letting her know that I never heard back and that I was willing to communicate and share more details about my poor customer service experience. I got back a short email on Saturday saying that I wouldn't be charged the delivery fee and that they would take $20 off my $500 order. Needless to say, I will not be doing business with them again in the future.

Despite her loss, she made the decision to give back to the community and the local Pasadena Fire department. This place has been on my radar but after hearing this I made an effort to stop by her shop and support. The store carries about 700 different wines from established and smaller wineries. Currently, Nicole is only accepting online orders for pick up or 2-day shipping in California. 100% of all proceeds from purchases of the "Fire Relief Wines" are being donated to The California Fire Foundation. She's already raised $40,000, so all my wine loving Yelp peeps that are reading this hope online and show Nicole some love. *Small parking lot or street parking.

It was between Chevron or Shell. Guess who won? You got it... Shell! Funny, as I was driving to Shell, I saw Chevron, but it was on the other side of the street that I was driving on so I said I'll just stick with Shell. Great corner location on Del Mar Blvd and Arroyo Parkway. Clean exterior. Prices were several cents cheaper than Chevron... yay! They also have a food mart, but I didn't go in. I prefer to pay at the pump unless I really need to go inside. If they run out of paper, I just make myself a note on gas cost and be on my way and not bother going inside to get receipt.
