Craft beer run
Miori I.

Hidden gem in Pasadena! Great craft beer selection. Never too busy. Decent prices. Friendly service. I loved all of the items I selected. Will be back very soon for more. Glad to have an additional craft beer location to add to the rotation. Just wishing there wasn't an Instagram now so it stayed a secret.

Of course I stopped by after reading about them in the news! Lots of fun perusing their craft beer selection. Packs and single cans are available in the refrigerated sections. If you shop at Ralphs for groceries you can use your phone number that's tied to your account to use fuel rewards at Shell when fueling up too.

They partner with another local brewery to brew their own beer Replicant, and sell a great selection of craft beer.

Come for the gas, stay for the craft beer selection & diverse Asian snack section. They partner with another local brewery to brew their own beer that they only (currently) sell at the station.

Great single beer selection. Also not featured in the photo, they have a beer cave w probably 6 packs and 12 packs?

Great craft beer selection. I recommend coming here if you want to grab some bottle logic or local brewery choices.

Came in for craft beer and I was not disappointed! They sell a ton of their beer by the single cans so you can get a wide variety of beers to try. If you are visiting and looking to try some local brews then this is your spot! Also had two employees ask if I needed any help with my selection.

When you need just need one item and you don't want to go into a huge supermarket. I was running five miles from Alhambra to Pasadena and I was thirsty on the 4th mile. I stopped here to quench my thirst and found that they carry cold Yerba Mate - that was refreshing.

I was in Pasadena on business, and I stopped by here to get a bottle of water, and use the restroom. The restroom was very clean. The store itself was also clean, and well-stocked. I checked out and was out the door in a matter of minutes. I didn't fuel up here, as I fueled up before heading going to Pasadena that day. But the prices were comparable to fuel prices of the region. The worker here was a pretty good guy. Good customer service, five stars.

Their air pumps just let air OUT of the tires. My husband even asked them if the pumps worked before he put money in.

Happy to say…read moreit's still the same cozy, welcoming place, with friendly servers and a beer selection that's hard to beat -- possibly, it can't be beaten at all. That said, when I'm in a Pub I tend to go for Guinness or some kind of 1/2 & 1/2, and this time I chose Smithwick's with a Guinness topper. My bartender, Sarah, proffered a perfect poor, with a smile and a laugh, and I was ready for a good time. The menu is packed with traditional pub favorites plus other general sandwiches and salads, etc. I decided on their Reuben, which is built with Corned Beef, Swiss, Sauerkraut, both Russian AND Mustard, and it's served with fresh cut Fries. The sandwich was hearty and generously made, with flavorful corned beef boasting all the best of the pickling spices without too much salt -- the cook knows how to balance flavors. The sauerkraut and melty Swiss provided a rich, acidic contrast to the beef, an effect echoed by the blending of Russian with Brown Mustard. Then there was the bread -- an artisan rye with good flavor, appealing texture and just the right amount of fresh seeds to let you know this bread came from an oven not a bag. Fries were hand cut, as advertised, arriving hot and crispy with just the right dusting of salt -- a perfect match for the Reuben. This being Monday night, it was quiet on Colorado Blvd., and the restaurant had only a few people at dinner time. While this was a laid-back visit, I'm well aware the place can get busy and boisterous when people descend on their back-alley entrance, and it's hard to know which scenario would be better: the high energy pulse or the calm conversation. Best to come in multiple times for a proper scientific analysis (as well as several cold pints and a few very good meals).

I haven't been to Lucky Baldwin's Pub since my old town bar hoping days and was looking forward to a great St. Patrick's Day corned beef and cabbage meal. On the phone and in person the lady taking my order was very nice and helpful. When I asked if the corned beef and cabbage was a hearty portion she said yes, I will be satisfied. But when I received my order I was fully disappointed. Two small pieces of corned beef, bland tasteless cabbage, 1 small potato that was sliced into 4 pieces, and 3 slivers of a carrot. The cabbage was slightly chewy and did not have any flavor. It seemed like they boiled it without any spices. The potatoes and carrots were cooked great but also lacked any flavor. They added some type of white sauce, which I think was a very watered down, tasteless gravy. While the corned beef itself was delicious, the fact that for $20 I got two small pieces was unacceptable. Especially after I was told they have a hearty portion. I really wanted to give this place a good review because of the good memories, welcoming staff and fun ambiance, but to capitalize on a holiday by charging $20 for a small portion, they deserve the one star.

I went solo but they have tables in tons of sizes so group hangs and dates are good here, too! Personally, I love a good people watching spot and enjoyed hanging out at Stone yesterday afternoon. I grabbed a tall two top in the corner of the outdoor patio and was super relaxed. The staff was great, helping me with recommendations and super quick & generous on the pours. I came in to try a 2016 Imperial Russian Stout I saw they had tapped and ended up trying taster size portions of 6 beers - all very solid. I'm biased to love deep cuts so the 10.6% Imperial Russian Stout was my fav of the day but I also enjoyed the lightness of the Stone Wil Power, a 4.5% fruited kettle sour with mango, tangerine and lychee. They have a ton of indoor seating but also the patio is just so nice & relaxing here. Very chill, quiet vibes and they open at 12pm on weekdays. Perfect atmosphere for work meetings or a liquid lunch meetup. Even the bathroom was cool with colorful grafitti abound. I liked the whole vibe of Stone. It's a cool brewery plopped down in the middle of Pasadena! For non-beer people, a Miller Lite is 4.2% in comparison so why not have a much tastier craft beer in place of that swill! Really enjoyed Stone Brewing in Pasadena and it was a perfect experience. I will absolutely be back!

But this past weekend I sort of had a bit of a bummer of an experience. I ordered a small cheese platter for my wife and I to pick up for an at-home date night. I added some cheeses we loved when we were there in December - I dropped them in the notes of the order AND sent an email to confirm. When I didn't hear back I tried calling, which went straight to a recording. So, of course when I picked up the platter it wasn't what we wanted. I was told emails aren't answered on the weekend, they don't pick up the phone and they're still working out the system. Thwarted by three modes of communication. Pretty disappointing. And for the $120 price tag, I was a little underwhelmed. I probably would have been better off just buying the cheeses from them, and getting the crackers and the accoutrements somewhere else and assemble it myself at home. I'll probably still eat here because there are some solid dishes, and the back patio is a beautiful spot to bring the family (pup included), but I just won't be ordering a cheese platter again, unfortunately.

Being in a party of 4 girls coming from high tea, we were dressed in elegant dresses, first comment was asking if we were coming from church, followed by eye flutters, short "okay" with an upward inflation to a joke about the day, an impatient comment about hurrying up and trying the wine while we were talking, asked for water when we were out, were left to pour the rest of our wine, didn't ask how the food was all the while was attentive to the table behind us, the cherry on top comment was when we were discussing the bill at the end, he was hovering at the table behind ours, then when we were ready, we asked to split the bill into 2, my portion on mine and the rest on another card, he then said "this isn't like a drive through, we can't do it that way" so I asked him to explain his comment, cause it was passive agressive and rude. After he wasnt able to becuase he wasnt expecting me to call out his rude comment, I had to then break it down and specify what I had ordered, he then sold "okayyyy....so how much, cause we don't itemize?" I had to again express for him to specify how they do it cause he has still yet to explain where his attitude is coming from and explain how they do their check splits, from my understanding it just felt like he wanted to play dumb and make me to the math, one I did he was like "ohh, okay" should have asked for the manager but we paid and left, I hasnt had this experience before being a returning customer, but he needs an attitude adjustment as his attitude was completely out of pocket. Do better Manuel, you alone got your place of work a 1 star. The rest of the staff was kind, facility beautiful and food and wine was good. This restaurant is not reflected in the 1 star.
