Delicious Mexican brunch! Very generous with the portion. I had the Pastor Mole Enchiladas and they're filled with tender pork. The mole sauce was also nice and savory. Eggs were perfectly cooked over-easy. The Red & Green Chilaquiles were tasty too but I thought the brisket was too dry. The play would be to do Mole Chilaquiles with Pastor! Overall, a very nice meal. Horchata was also tasty and refreshing!

Cozied up next to COCINA de MARY, I got my fix for chips with a large platter of CHILAQUILES that's immensely flavorful - it's all in the red & green sauce. Pastor isn't like they make in TX, here it was a tough white meat - ordering with sunny eggs (vegetarian) is no consolation. Ashley taking tables late in the service cycle, a plus!

I got the chilaquiles and they were very good! I went with the brisket and green sauce. I liked that the chips had a bit of crunch still and did not get soggy. I tried all three of the hot sauces they provided and all were really well balanced but not super spicy. The servers were quick and I enjoyed my experience, I would go back!

I found this place off yelp. It looked pretty good so we decided to have brunch. Man.... this place is so delicious I had the tostada with Barbacoa and my husband had the Chilaquiles with red and green salsa with brisket. RJ's is so authentic, so delicious, absolutely love! Best Oaxacan food I've had. Too bad I don't live in Portland, but I will definitely go back when I visit. The staff was friendly, and the place was extremely clean.

Stopped back in 8:00 on Saturday. The front of the house while have always been friendly and welcoming- seems to have grown into the expansion, they seemed more relaxed and confident. Consistently has always been important, this team absolutely nails it! I ordered the same mole enchiladas that I had a couple of years ago - they were amazing then and just as amazing this time around! If you haven't yet - do stop in!

Awesome family owned restaurant. Great food and great service with a very chill vibe. We came here for dinner and really want to try their brunch I feel like it's a hidden gem. Super nice owners. Located in NE Portland, in the Alberta neighborhood.

Wow absolutely loved our visit to RJ Skillets this last weekend. Would most definitely go back. We came in on a Saturday morning and were quickly seated to a nice table by the window. The inside space is airy but industrial with exposed concrete but lovely skylights which were perfect for a sunny day. The service was really on point. We felt well taken care of for the entire meal and waters were on the table within seconds of sitting down. The staff was kind and attentive throughout the meal, better service than I'll get at even some upscale restaurants. Now to the food. They're only open for breakfast and lunch so you have the option to pick either direction of dishes. I opted for the traditional green salsa enchiladas and by gf went with the mole oaxacan omelette. We also got an empanada to start the meal. Everything tasted extremely fresh and the plating was also quite impressive. The portions were sizable which I always appreciate. Even the fruit side we ordered, which most places would probably overlook, was super fresh with berries and presented beautifully. This place really delivered, and they're pumping out some great food. Would highly recommend as a great breakfast spot in the area.

    Enchilada breakfast with barbacoa!!

RJ Skillets Top 100 places to eat review (Yelp) is well deserved. My wife and I really enjoyed our enchiladas, pancakes, and omelette. The food was authentic, favorable, and delicious. Good portions and the service was spot on.

Went back again to make sure this place was still great after my first two visits and lo and behold, it was! What a great place from it's cleanliness to its Waite staff and of course, it's amazing menu and food presentation. I opted for the skillet with brisket and my mom again went for her favorite chimichanga. This place is off the chain! One of my top spots in Portland, Oregon (and there's a lot of great ones to choose from).

    Chilaquiles verdes!

Both the fish and the prawns were cooked in a red sauce that was delicious! I meant to ask for blue corn tortillas but was so excited to find shrimp & fish tacos that weren't deep-fried that I forgot to ask for them. The regular corn tortillas were excellent, though, so it was not a bad mistake to make. I also had jamaica to drink and let me tell you... it was not made from a mix! It was dark, thirst-quenching, and perfectly made. Most jamaica is super sweet - this was not! I love the flavor of real hibiscus and this did not disappoint. My friends had chile relleno bowls and birria tacos, all of which was excellent. Their watermelon margaritas were tasty and refreshing! Our orders were taken by a helpful person at the cash register and the food was served quickly by a friendly server. The inside and outside areas were clean and tidy, with plenty of seating available at the outside tables. The outdoor seating area is under cover making it a good choice for both summer & winter dining. Definitely going on my "have to go back and try something else" list!

I also tried the NA classic margarita and it was so refreshing. I loved the subtle touch of orange juice. Overall, such a lovely spot with amazing food, great vibes, and thoughtful details. For the amount of food and the overall experience, I thought it was a great way to experience the restaurant. Ángel took care of us and made the meal even more memorable by telling us the story and inspiration behind each dish as it came out. It made the tasting feel like much more than just trying a bunch of different dishes. I'm definitely a carnivore and usually feel like a meal needs some kind of meat, but surprisingly, my favorite dish was the mole with eggplant and rice. The mole was delicious, and I genuinely didn't miss having meat on the plate. I would happily order that dish again exactly as it was. The tomates en salsa arabe were another standout. I really enjoyed how fresh the dish tasted, especially with the seasonal tomatoes they were using. I also had the carnitas tacos, which had great flavor and texture. For dessert, we had what was essentially a fried concha, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. It had just the right amount of sweetness for me and was a great way to finish the meal. Overall, I highly recommend doing the full tasting menu at República. For around $40 per person, you get to experience the entire menu, and if you're lucky enough to have Ángel there to walk you through the stories and concepts behind the dishes, it makes the experience that much better.

Extra side of yummy and creamy black bean frijoles with sour cream, butter, tortillas. Instead of desert, the Mezcal, chile and lime was refreshing. Right now open for lunch Thursday through Sunday 10-3pm. No fixed menu, changes with what's fresh - the way chef Angel loves to cook respecting what is in season. Service and ambiance is friendly and knowledgeable about the food and its origin - another reason I love dining here so I learn about what I'm eating and how it was inspired. Yes, the food plated looks so good, I am inspired to dig in. There's a reason it was recognized early in its start by Eater, Portland Monthly and the Oregonian as one of the best restaurants in the city because foodies seek out and love to go where the food experience is special - especially the chef tasting menus in the past.
