The Rivini location on Norse Way in Lakewood provides an excellent massage for the money. Just $35 for 45-minutes of back, shoulders, arms, legs, foot bathe and massage, neck and head. The staff, from China, are well versed in the musculoskeletal system and technique. They can provide a deep tissue massage through to lighter treatment based on your needs and wishes. I think their training is expert and probably far beyond what is required in the US. The only drawback is that the massage occurs in large open area room with multiple clients and masseuses. You should wear yoga pants and a T, and you are massaged through your clothes. The large space remains very quiet, with the little ambient noise that occurs drowned out by muzak. I say after playing tennis, gardening, walking, or anything that requires a massage, this is really well worth it for the money! read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. I scheduled a 60 min massage, which really was a 55 min massage as the woman exited the room around 4 times during the massage, twice to manage the front desk. She also yelled out to the other employee one time during the massage. The massage was just meh, but I was not going to make a fuss but just not leave a great tip. When I signed the CC receipt she watched me to see what kind of tip I would write in. When she saw the tip I wrote in, she made a mean face to me and asked if I liked the massage. I told her it was just okay and that there were way too many distractions. She then proceeded to throw my receipt at me in a mean way. Dealing with lower peripheral neuropathy means I need a place thats good with the legs and feet. Called in the AM and was booked same day. Here's my consensus. PROS: - 70 minute combo for $35 (add $1 for credit card). That's a deal! I tipped 40% cash. - Free parking lot, gets busy. There's a garage too, but I don't know if anyone can park in it. - Yes, there is an ELEVATOR, it works and it's clean. Near the middle of the two story levels. Sorry dude who didn't know about it and thought stairs were the only way up. Need to pay better attention to your surroundings. - Was it Andy? That guy is a workhorse, didn't even rest or break. If you want a tough thorough massage, get the guy. Applies plenty of hard pressure, doesn't speak English. I skipped the head massage and got extra legs and feet. He's pretty skilled and was very quiet. No weird actions. - Plenty of complimentary bottled water. - Individual low lighting private rooms. - Fairly quiet with new age music. - I think there's 8 rooms with curtains. - Disability friendly. - Frequent visitor card. 10 gets a complimentary foot massage. - They clean you up with moist hot towels. - Open late, no hanky panky! - Cool fish, they could use some interior decor. I love this place!! I have been here several times. I always call first to make an appointment with my favorite masseur. The manager is super sweet. She always remembers my name and helps with my busy work schedule to accommodate me. A few of my favorite male masseurs have left however they have hired new male masseurs. My masseuse was Lisa, she was excellent and my friend had Coco who was also very good. I came here twice. First time was ok. Second time I walked out in the middle of it cuz I couldn't tell what the hell the masseuse was doing. I asked her to apply hard pressure and use her elbows and she said she can't do nay harder and barely tried. She wasn't even putting her weight into it. So if you like to go and pay for someone to rub your body a bit with oil and rocks (which some people do like) then it's fine. But if you want what's called a real massage, go elsewhere. I'm 6' 2" 247Lbs and was expecting a nice deep massage. I went to the gym earlier in the day and was looking forward to a nice strong muscle massage. Welcome to the neighborhood, Rivini Salon! So happy to have you here. I have been to the location on Viking Way, and have enjoyed it very much. But, now that I can literally WALK to this location, I think I've found my new #1 massage place! They've done a nice job with the interior transformation of this place. It's clean, quiet, and unlike the other Rivini location, this one has separate rooms. I've never minded the large room space, but having an individual room is a nice touch. I've had MANY massages over the years and have paid top dollar for some of them. The woman who worked on me today was excellent and attentive. Seriously, I've paid 3 times as much for a much lesser quality. I left feeling like a million bucks! THANK YOU! With regard to the comment from another Yelper, who said it was "upstairs" and a "creepy vibe" : 1. Being upstairs simply means you need to walk up a flight of stairs to reach the business and then back down to return to your vehicle. Seems to me, the only thing that makes this a drag is if you are physically unable to climb stairs. 2. If by "creepy vibe" you mean "under construction" then, OK, perhaps construction is creepy to you. The shopping center is undergoing a huge facade renovation. You don't have to be the foreman on the construction site to know this. It's pretty clear by the scaffolding and construction workers. Anyone can see that. Guess what, it's probably going to look a lot worse in the coming weeks. But then guess what else, it's going to look great when it's done. My neck and back were bothering me so i decided to get a massage. I'm so glad I did! I opted for the $35 combo special which was amazing...They start you out on your stomach massage you and do reflexology. Then you turn over on your back and they soak your feet in warm water while massaging your head at the same time. After that they work on your arms and hands, then spend a great amount of time on your feet. The rooms are small, the lights are set low, and the music is relaxing. I never leave reviews, but let me tell you, this was the worst massage I've gotten so I had to leave a review. Want to give 0 stars if possible. Literally the worst massage I've received in my life. Honestly, could have receive a better massage from an amateur. Also, came out more stressed and in pain than I went in. I got the $25/60 min body and foot massage. I've gotten this before from here a few months ago, and that experience was amazing, so I came back here after I had a stressful day. This time around- everything started all right, she half heartedly did everything but nothing significantly terrible, and then we arrive to the foot portion. Before she even started, she left and took her sweet time to do who knows what for what felt like 15 minutes. She basically scratched my foot for 30 minutes. Didn't press hard, didn't do anything but barely touch the feet. She then left again for a good amount of time. She then flipped me over and worked on the back. Let me tell you, I don't know where that strength was when she was doing my feet, but she put all her weight into my back and caused me a lot of pain. Then she started working on my neck with the same amount of pressure as she put in my back, and it felt like she was choking me- that's how hard she was pushing on my damn neck. I told her to do lighter, then she just stopped all together. She half heartedly did the rest of my back for a few minutes and told me she was done. Obviously, after all this, I was upset. The lady at the front desk (she was a very nice lady), asked me if everything was ok because it was apparent it was not. She asked me twice. I said yes, not wanting to make a big deal out it, but tipped little ($3) because it was upsetting. The lady giving me the massage saw this and started complaining, saying tip should at least be $5. Even with very mediocre service, I'll usually tip more than 20% because I think services like massage deserve more tip- but this? This was a joke. I used to come here when I was an undergrad student at CSULB because it's down the street from the university. I've had better experiences back then. I didn't feel relaxed during most of my session today and I wouldn't return. I don't usually mind deep tissue massages as long as they're slow. The lady who massaged me was fast and I felt uncomfortable. I don't know if she was mad at me and if she was, then I'm not sure why. During the massage, she pushed her fingers down on my stomach many times. I've never had that happen to me before. It hurt even though I was wearing my sweater. The lady also THREW a pillow on my stomach after she was done. I didn't like that she wore gloves throughout the massage. She "massaged" bone more than muscle. Later on when I was lying down on my stomach, she didn't tell me that she was going to walk on my back. They didn't do that the last time I came here. I had to breathe through my mouth because I felt as if I was suffocating when the lady walked on my back. Towards the end, she smacked me too hard on different body parts. I guess you get what you pay for. I still gave a decent tip. My total was $37 ($30 for the massage, $1 fee because I paid with card, and $6 tip). After I signed the receipt, the lady thought that was my copy and told me to take it. I tried to explain to her that I already had my copy and the receipt that I signed was the merchant copy. She seemed confused at first and I felt annoyed because I wanted to leave right after I signed. Eventually, she understood that I already had my copy even though I said it more than twice. Upon entrance they were kind of yelling at me. Maybe it's a cultural difference but that put me on edge. I asked for a foot massage and lower body. I did not want a full body massage. I ended up getting a full body massage. They used Suave lotion! I was very surprised by that. The hot stones were awesome on my back but I really wanted an extensive foot and leg massage. The foot massage was mediocre. I do not think I will go back there. I'm still seeking the best massage place in Long Beach.
