One Pepperoni in the back mushroom pizza in front outstanding and delicious
James S.

Recently I came home after 10 years for a class reunion. I live in Arizona and you can't find a good pizza. That changed when my bucket list was honored going to Riverview. I sat at a table waiting for my guest the employees were very gracious letting me sit at a table when the restaurant was getting busy. I ordered a mushroom and cheese pizza and boy I was not disappointed. After ten years the flavors of the sauce brought back childhood memories. The inside atmosphere was the same as long ago which was absolutely divine. I enjoyed every last bite of the pizza. If you want to enjoy an excellent pizza without the heavy dough and thick crusts, believe me you will not be disappointed when you go to the Riverview Restaurant Ipswich, Ma. I support great reviews when the food is excellent, enjoy.

Been going for 35 years, was great, now good. Prices have gotten too high, especially drinks. $11 dollars for a tiny mixed drink. Beers used to be cheap, there's no reason for this place to charge so much. Pizza toppings got ridiculously tiny, meatball pizza had nearly nothing on top, so different than before. Sausage, same. Pizzas didn't even go to the edge of the pan, tiny. No plastic knives and forks unless you ask for them. Really? So many obvious signs that the kids running the show are literally squeezing every penny out of their loyal customers. The paper thin limes in the mixed drinks is laughable, how cheap can you be Riverview???

Grab a slice with the local yocals! This a place where customers are known by name. This place was recommended by our cousin who lives in Ipswich. We ordered a cheese pizza with half pepperoni. It's thin crust, the perfect amount of cheese and sauce. It's definitely a bar style pizza, but it's great, along with the service and vibe. I'd go back, hopefully next time I can eat there.

As far as a good pizza for a good price, Riverview is where its at. Great for those on a budget, but want a good pizza.

The staff are friendly and the servers knowledgeable and efficient. The hostess had trouble finding our reservation (my companion was already seated) but it seemed to be quite busy that Friday night. The restaurant consists of quite a few separate rooms and we were seated in one that was not too crowded. (I walked through the bar on my way in and that was hopping.) I had a glass of sauvignon blanc and after studying the menu and consulting our server my companion and I both went for a burger. There was no problem with my swapping out the french fries for onion rings (points there!). The burgers were done exactly to our liking (mine mediume rare, hers medium well). I should have turned down dessert, I was that full, but my companion was willing so we went for it. There was a good selection of typical New England desserts and we finally settled on a blueberry crisp topped with vanilla ice cream which was good but not great (not sure I can put my finger on why, so it may be that I was too full to enjoy it). There is a parking lot although it is not paved so was not fun walking through at the end of a day when it clearly had rained. It also could use some lighting. This is a wonderful restaurant suitable for a special occasion or an ordinary night out. I will definitely be back.

In Ipswich, a small town near Boston, many restaurants were closed on Monday. This place, though a…read morebit out of the way, was pretty good. Fig & Pig Flatbread: I loved the rich sweetness of the figs--it tasted just like summer! Combined with the slightly bitter arugula, the sweet and sour balsamic vinegar, the savory and aromtic ham, and the fermented aroma of Gorgonzola, the flavors were rich and harmonious, like a cool breeze blowing through the still clear blue sea and bright sunshine of late New England summer--instantly pleasant. The flatbread had crispy edges and a soft base; if there were less cheddar, it wouldn't be so cloying towards the end, making it even better. Fish Tacos: Consistent with the ones I had in San Diego, the pico de gallo was a classic, rich Mexican flavor, very much to my liking, just noticeably milder. However, the Sriracha aioli was barely noticeable and lacked spiciness, which was a bit of a disappointment, as I had high hopes for it!

Well beyond "a little char". The brisket was cut strangely thin and was like eating salted beef. In fact everything was too salty. The broccoli wasn't trimmed so all the dirty stem ends were unappealing and I removed them myself. The mashed were way too salty as well. We split a ceaser to start and there was barely any dressing but once we got more it was better. The dressing was fantastic, not a good as the Hart House but still good. Drinks were good and had a good price We won't return.

We ordered a few things to split and went off of what we saw at other tables. So many people had the pizzas so we had to give it a go. The French onion soup was fantastic and rich. The Ceaser salad was good, and not too intense but it was garlicky and had homemade hand ripped croutons. We were starving so we ordered the Brussels sprouts on a whim and it was incredible! The umami flavor and sou sauce ginger aioli with the pickled onions was so unexpected we almost ordered one to go. Lastly was the pizza, the dough is great and sadly we didn't get to try their red sauce but the pizza was excellent. They have a huge beer selection and we loved seeing their on tap selection. Definitely recommend getting a reservation since they never had empty tables but there wasn't a line out the door. There are two sides to the restaurant and the bar is big and well staffed. We waited about 15 minutes to get water or see any one at our table but that's because we came at 6:30 pm on a Saturday and they were absolutely busy. Once we saw our waitress and got our order in it was quick and smooth sailing. Highly recommend grabbing a seat at the high tops and enjoying your time.

If you need to charge extra it should be added to the items ordered, not hidden until the bill is received !! I was so put out by this that I didn't dare mention it to our nice waitress as it wasn't her fault. It's not the lousy few bucks but the principle of it !
