ran in to grab a couple items for when i leave town and will be on the road for the next couple…read moredays. the vibe was friendly and it seemed like a neighborhood coop with competitive pricing on organic items. i noticed a lot of local brands and some more mainstream that you'd be able to find at probably most west coast natural grocers in other towns. what i mean by that is if you have dietary restrictions and are used to shopping elsewhere but stop in here, you'd probably feel right at home. it's a good place to know about!

There's a lot you can get at this store - eggs, Doritos, candy bars, milk and donuts - plus smokes and beer. Yes, the two liter of Coke is $2.59, I get it. That is just the deal with convenience stores in your neighborhood. But they are right there, open and waiting for you just around the corner. But then... and then... they sell biscuits & gravy. I know the gravy comes from on a can and those biscuits have probably been frozen, but they may just be the best biscuits & gravy I've eaten. I know crazy right? But so true. Do yours of a favor and go down to Dairy Mart and ask for an order.

There was that time a man threw open cans of beer at my car while I was inside of it, about to get out to enter the store. And just recently a very loud and prolonged shouting match that eventually turned somewhat physical between a couple after the man was spotted by the woman saying hello to another woman. That was interesting to say the least. Needless to say, I've learned to not take my time in the parking lot. Lately I've noticed what I believe to be little fruit flies in my fountain drinks. It's happened often enough and in a relatively short span of time (2-3 days) that I've come to the conclusion that they must have these bugs getting into their machines somehow. Perhaps when maintaining them. So I'll probably stop going there for fountain sodas. Which means I'll probably stop going there for lots of things as I'm not going to go to two different places. Looks like I'll go the extra 5 blocks to Bruns Apple from now on. So, all in all, a decent place to pick up snacks and beverages. If you don't mind the crazies in the parking lot and the bugs in your drinks.

Station Market is there to save me. Their location is super convenient - steps from the EmX, facing the library. So I go in here some mornings and grab a can of coffee and a little breakfast. Their prices are the best I've seen in town, which is awesome and keeps me coming back. They also have a great selection - the only place I've seen the weird Lay's potato chip flavors in single serving bags, and the only place I can find Hazelnut Starbucks Doubleshot coffees. There's also some warm food, doughnuts, cold stuff to microwave, a coffee machine, fountain drinks, and little toys and doodads for sale. We stopped on our way home from a Birthday party at Putter's on highway 99 the other day. We had left over pizza, so we wanted some soda to go with the left overs. We don't keep soda stocked in the house. I was surprised the market was open because they seem to only be open on very limited hours. I don't think they are open on Sundays. I was kind of excited to stop because we had not stopped in, in a while. They usually have these cookies that I make that I have not made in a long time called hot cocoa cookies. They are chocolate crinkles cookies basically, with marshmallows on top, and a chocolate frosting. They are usually very good. We didn't get cake at the party, so I was looking forward to the cookie. Well we got it home and took a bite...it tasted as if it was days old! It was nasty! I was so pissed! I did not even take any more bites! How can they let that sit there for days like that? I make these, and know what they feel, and taste like after a week! It was foul! My guy said he has been in there and was hesitant on even grabbing the cookies because he has seen flies several at a time in food cases. That about made me want to vomit after he told me that. I hope this place picks up their standards, because I used to like to stop in. I used to like to be able to get simple pleasures that I didn't have to make at home. But now...I am not so sure.
