My new favorite place in The Dalles. You can't really go wrong with $5 all you can eat taco Tuesday or 25-cent wing Wednesday. With a happy hour appetizer menu, $1 PBR, and a great selection of local brews on tap this place is great! The only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is that there is usually only one person working both the bar and the tables so at times it can take a while to get service. read more

Not a big fan since the expansion. Liked it better before. Still have a good happy hour, and I feel that us the best time to go. Now that summer is upon us, that means the return of live music. I'm not opposed to that, but the place is not large enough for anything other than acoustic groups, otherwise it's so loud inside that having a conversation is difficult. read more

Great food and possibly the best burger I've had ever. Our family was traveling home from rafting and I pulled out the Yelp review App. The pub had great reviews for the food and atmosphere. This is me checking in again. I must say River Tap has greatly improved over the past two years since my last post. I will actually order food now and it is fairly decent. Looking for a local place to eat on a Sunday, which can be difficult in The Dalles. Most of the downtown area is closed on Sunday. We will be going back to this place often. The Food was Great, service was fast and friendly. Didn't have to wait for soda refills. It's a bit on the small side so it may be busier on weekend nights or sports nights. They had 4 TV's with different games showing today. Wednesday night is $0.50 wings night we will try that next week. Portions were big and filling. We had the Cannonball Burger (very juicy ) with cajun curly fries. The fries needed a bit more cajun flavor but overall good curly fries. We also got the Ultimate Nachos (non-appetizer section) too many to finish also very good. read more

Went there for dinner today. When we sat down they said it the kitchen was running at 30 minutes. Glad they were upfront about that. I am celiac. I spoke with the waitress and orders a burger with no bum and salad, no croutons. My hubby had a regular burger and salad with croutons. Food did not come for almost 50 minutes. My salad was covered in crouton dust along with the cheese on my patty. I asked her to check with the kitchen, she took my plate and came back with it and said that it was cracked pepper. That the manager said it was ok. Hubbys salad had no cracked pepper. His croutons had these little tiny green spice flecks on them. My salad and cheese had those along with little tan specks. I have been eating this way for 19 years. It's not my first time dealing with crouton dust. Also, if I needed a new one they said, the kitchen was running at ah hour. I picked the cheese off and just ate the patty. Took the salad home so hubby can take it for lunch tomorrow to work. The worst part was the lying about it. This was a pretty decent restaurant! The service was very good, we had multiple people checking on us and everyone was very friendly. We ordered the briar berry cider which was very tasty! I got the fish and chips which were a bit over-breaded for my taste, but still yummy! Gave this place a 1 because the wine was good but this is NO sports bar. Stopped off the fwy to watch the Trail Blazers in the qtr finals and the staff wouldnt turn the the volume up (or even ask if they could) for all the blazer supporters inside the bar. Instead they catered to the mellow folk sitting outside. Dont waste a good game on this place. Tell your friends not to waste their time if they're looking for a sports bar....false advertisement. My husband and I use to eat here on a weekly basis. That was until they changed their menu for the 10th time and we no longer could find stuff we liked on the menu. Then the last time we were there, it was so hot (inside) we could barely stand it and the bartender argued with us over what we ordered and the price. Food took forever to come out. When it came out it was cold. The wings were inedible and the nachos barely had any sauce. After we didn't eat anything the server acted as if nothing was wrong. Tried to say something about the food and was completely ignored. Fortunately my beer was pretty good. Could not have been more disappointed since we were both starving. I realize that being busy means us having to wait a little longer but when we ask to see a specific server because that is who my boyfriend knows and the other server/bartender gives us absolute attitude I want impressed. Still we were willing to give it a shot but that same server that gave us attitude then laughs at us because two of us said we'll go ahead and get our drinks at the bar while the third waits now I'm just pissed. The on duty manager when I complained to her didn't even care. This was my first and last time going. I know I have helped to pay the wages of most of the staff there for more than a few months, and I will be more than willing to contribute to their future 401k's!!! Yeah, a Brew Pub open on a Sunday evening in The Dalles! Nice outside seating right on the downtown/main street. Inside is casual but very comfortable with a definite Gorge feel. Full bar and a good selection of beer on tap. Quick, efficient service. Decent menu from burgers, to pizza to salad to wings and Nachos. Came here on a beautiful Monday afternoon, loved the outdoor seating area and sunny windows. They offer pasta salad as a side for your entree which I was happy about because I love pasta salad. I stopped by here on the way back to Portland after being on a long road trip. The atmosphere was ok overall...nothing particularly unique and bordering on looking a little dirty. The outdoor seating area was nice but the indoor area where kids are allowed to sit was plain and the table and chairs were a little sticky. The waitress was quick and friendly. The food was better than I expected. I had fish tacos and my son had a burger. He liked the burger but the bun was soggy on the bottom. Great place to eat lunch if you have your dog with you. They even bring a water bowl for them. Food was good and so was the beer selection.

I only gave this place a 2 star because fries were best ever. Everything else was garbage. The hummus plate came out with soggy popped cherry tomatoes and slim pickings for veggies. But the hummus itself was good. I mean, how could you screw that up, anyway. The fish tacos, as my husband raved, "licked balls". I guess that means...weren't good. The nachos lacked, well, everything. Lots of dry chips with no toppings. The burgers looked ok. So, for the love of God...choose the burgers and fries. Nothing else. read more
