A truck dropped a metal object onto Highway 94 going West by the Huron Exit and i did not see it until too late. My tire BLEW out immediately and i was fortunate to remember in seconds the Riverside Shell station just 2 blocks off the Westbound 94 Exit. The owner Elair, an extremely gracious and kind gentleman from a small country near Nigeria, dropped everything and immediately came to my rescue. He has owned this station since 2013. The blow out left my tire with a huge torn hole and he agreed i was lucky to have made it the 2 blocks to his station. He quickly took off the tire of my old Lexus RX, found the spare under the car, released it from it's undercarriage cover, put it on then checked the air in all four tires-- just in 30 minutes so i was able to arrive at my appointment just 15 minutes late!! For this he charged me a very reasonable fee and thus i decided to give him the business of purchasing a new tire to put in the spare tire undercarriage. He is a FULL service gas station EXTREMELY CLOSE to highway 94 ( one of the closest full service stations between U of Mn at Huron and Riverside). I definitely shall return to try his other car repair skills! read more

I had a fast leaking tire and not a lot of time to get it fixed before I needed to go pick my son up from school. Worst customer service I have received in a long time, rude and unwilling to help. Stranded with an almost flat tire and attendant wasn't even willing to ask a technician to help. I asked for a favor being that I only had 50 cents in cash on me(they charge $1.50 for air) and was told there was nothing he could do, I offered to buy something with my credit card and get $1 back in cash, nope... finally a kind gentleman in the parking lot gave me enough change to start the pump and after the allotted 3 minutes of air there still was not enough pressure in my tire, you can guess what the attendance response to a refund or any other help was!!! read more

Hilaire has managed this station since 2013 and is now the owner. He has been my mechanic since 2010 when I began bringing my 2004 Honda Element to him. He is helpful, polite, and kind with his customers and his staff. Several times he fixed small things on my car and did not charged me. He is a good mechanic and a good person. read more

Their repair work is probably good. What soured me on this place was having to PAY for AIR after having spent thousands on gas at this place over many years. The rude comment of whoever was in the repair bay will stick with me. I shant go back! read more

Hillaire (the owner and chief mechanic at "Dave's") is a master at troubleshooting and explaining the problem and solution he proposes for repairs. He has taken excellent care of my 2002 Saturn SL2. He doesn't propose high priced fixes when a simpler solution will do (especially for an older car). He has great turn-around and his prices are great. Hillaire has great interpersonal skills too. A plus for a mechanic. read more

I have a 2003 Subaru Outback and it's hard to find a mechanic who likes to work on Subarus. These guys have one and he is great. They always take the time to go over everything with me and their prices are fair. I ran the prices past car guys and their estimates were the same. Plus they are easy-going and pleasant to be around. They are also recommended by AAA. read more

When an unexpected flat tire resulted in our stopping at Riverside Shell, we were grateful for the helpful service we received. Not only was the problem fixed (nail hole plugged) within an hour, but the mechanic rotated the tires back to front because of wear, without extra charge. We had Dave's do several repairs... new motor mount, front struts, fix/replace the idle air control valve, and so forth. When we picked it up, we immediately noticed that it had a pronounced vibration that it hadn't had before and that turning over 90 degrees or so resulted in the car continuing to turn, rather than straightening out. I took the car back, and was told that replacing one motor mount had made it apparent that the other 2 motor mounts also needed replacing. I asked why they hadn't noticed the vibration in the test drive, and they said that the vibration smoothed out after the car warmed up (which it didn't). They were not able to explain how warming up could have resulted in the motor mounts no longer allowing excessive engine movement. The second problem, the pronounced pull when turning, they attributed to the front end being out of alignment. It's possible that the work they did was reasonable, and that their explanation of the vibration and steering problem was correct; however, I don't understand why they would not have noticed those problems during the test drive they took after the initial repairs. The whole car shakes so badly from the vibration that no one could miss it, and the steering issue was actually frightening the first time I experienced it. We did not have Dave's do the 2nd set of repairs, despite feeling somewhat pressured to do so, but took it to a shop that specializes in alignments. There, we were informed that there is also a bad tie-rod end... another thing that Dave's apparently missed. I gave them 2 stars, because my issue is more with what they missed (and how they accounted for it) then with what they did. read more

Saved me hundreds maybe thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs. "helair' is a gem of a guy and took the time to do several tests on my car that the dealership don't even consider doing. He then took the time to explain everything to me and gave me his suggestion. They are not pushy at all and very straight forward unlike other mechanic shops who just assume that changing one thing after the other will fix your car and in the end you still may have that issue .i loved their service and their caring attitude -I'm definitely going back to this place . read more

I started going to Action Auto a few years ago, and I've found them to be fair, knowledgeable, and honest. They stand by their warranty, have free loaner cars, and let me know if something can wait. I'm still taking my car there even though I've moved across town. They're just that reliable. read more

I do not trust these mechanics. My car stalled after service done at their shop, and less than 1/2 a block away from their shop, they charged me $80 to tow it back to their shop. So that they could re-diagnose the problem. It was not able to be driven when I picked up the car...and they questioned my ability to drive (ie "letting my car warm up") over their own flaw in service or a thorough test drive. Do not take your car to this shop. It is quite literally highway robbery! The shop owner is also uninterested in keeping customer service, as I frequently have bought gas and tires from this shop. I am spreading the word about this place, I am a resident of the neighborhood and work in the area. read more

I have had small problems and stopped by and was helped many times by Brent, he's friendly and immediately helpful. He has added air to my tires, even my bike tires when I wasn't sure how much to add. I have a newer car so don't need many big repairs but they have helped with my smaller problems like replacing a light and oil changes. They replaced my tires for me and that went well too. read more
