Came down and had the absolute friendliest service I've ever had. He topped me off and even put some rain-x on my windshield as my wipers are broken atm. Checked my tire pressure too!! I will be bringing my vehicle to Performance Plus Quick Lube of Charlevoix and Dan from here on out for my oil changes and top offs. Cannot speak highly enough of them. Thank you!

They assured me they knew and would add the proper amount of oil. I was charged for the extra oil, which was fine because it was needed. I asked the tech, Daniel, if my engine looked like it was burning or leaking any oil. He stated "no" my engine looked good. HOWEVER, with 51% of my oil life not used, my oil light came on. I was back in the Chicagoland area and went to my regular dealer. When they checked my car it had less than 2 quarts of oil left in it. I again had the engine checked and there were NO signs of it leaking or burning oil. When I came back to Charlevoix I spoke with Daniel again. He said my car is known for burning oil. I pointed out the only time it happens is when I need to go to a quick oil change place like his. He looked at my receipts and saw the other place used the same type of oil as they did. When I asked if my regular dearer used magic oil, he did not have a response other than my car must be burning oil despite no one including him being able to see it. I have owned this car for four years and this is only the second time it has been low on oil, and both times I needed to get the oil changed at a quick oil change location. There was no offer to correct the mistake or to credit a future service. Needless to say I will never go back here again and would not recommend it to anyone, especially people from out of town.

This is the only brush tunnel wash in Grayling…read more With that being said, I pulled into today with an uber salty and icy car. I had driven up north in a near blizzard and my car looked atrocious. I mean, I couldnt even tell the car was hunter green under all that junk, it looked like a christmas cookie with dates in it...lol. At first I missed the driveway, its in a weird spot. Anyways, I did a big U-Turn on the road (hey its Grayling, you get away with that stuff here) and went back. I pulled up and the door was down. Seeing that its winter, they are probably trying to keep their equipment and tunnel from freezing. There is a sign to honk, and I did. The door opened and a younger lady greeted me, and I pulled in. The door shut behind me. This is where the party began!! Just kidding, there was no party. Well, unless you count me whipping out $7 (They have 2 options; a $7 wash, and a $10 wash that includes more options such as tire treatment, etc.). I commented "wow..car washes arent cheap these days!" to the attendant. That must've been the catch phrase of the day because she then handed me a business card with a free upgrade to the $10 wash on my next visit. Score! Turns out, the attendant signed the back of the card "NM". I look at the fron of the card and she appears to be the owner. Whoops, hope I didnt offend her or anything. Either way, she was very pleasant to me and did a great job prepping my car. The equipment looks like its being maintained and the tunnel itself was fairly clean looking, given its winter. You get a fair amount of soap sprayed on the car and the brushes that clean your car do not hit to hard. Sometimes I feel like those things are going to break my windows "FWAP FWAP FWAP FWAP". No wonder babies and dogs hate carwashes..lol. Anyways, Im digressing. I got to the end of the tunnel and a guy is waving me forward. Even though you get a heated blow dry at the end of the tunnel, the guy also hand dries your car!! And he did an exceptional job. I mean, some people down state where Im from REALLY need to take notes from this guy. I got out of my car and was very impressed - no salt streaks (from salty crap stuck behind the mirrors, rear lights, etc), no ice or snow, no slush buildup at the bottom off the rockers... the car wash did a fantastic job!! I drove the car back to the cabin (~25 miles) and the roads are very slushy up here. I got to the cabin and barely anything had 'stuck' back onto my car. Nice. My car looks great, every aspect of the exterior is clean - even my rims look great. I NEVER give 5 stars either. Check my reviews. But Northstar Carwash has most certainly earned it. As we're trekking across the US, we have a basket installed on our tow hitch and this cannot use an automated car wash and had to seek out a self-car wash place. This place has both automated AND self-serve options. Three self serve bays, one of which is taller are available plus an automated bay. I arrived early in the morning around 7AM and used the first self-serve bay closest to the automatic bay. Read the instructions carefully before washing g to understand all of the features and maximize my time. The main reason I selected this location, In addition to being self-serve is because it accepts credit cards, which was much appreciated as I had already run out of quarters from the previous car wash and another state. What I really liked about this is unlike the other location that I washed that in another state, which you have to manually keep adding time to, THIS car wash site, once you activate your credit card, simply keeps the time running, which is great cause I didn't have to pause to run over and keep adding time. Simply press the button when you're done to stop the charges. I love that! I used pretty much every cycle type from pre-wash and high-pressure rinses to low pressure applications in car wash brush with foam. Everything worked perfectly, and all of the detergents were stocked and functioned as advertised. Zero problems, simple yet effective service. I couldn't be happier--good value. Thanks!

Since 2005 or so, I have had a good amount of work done on three cars and one pickup truck at Uncle…read moreRod's. This work has been a mix of maintenance, repair, and special/custom/upgrade work. Twice, they've inspected cars and brought them up to appropriate condition for me to make cross-country road trips. They repair what needs fixing, they advise what will soon or eventually need fixing and what makes sense to do all in one go (e.g., to avoid double-spending by doing a group of repairs that all require the same first ten labor steps, if one such repair needs doing right now and the others are soon to follow). By default they use quality parts and supplies, and their shop rate is entirely reasonable especially for the high quality of work. I'm a car geek, and I am very picky and particular about the work done on my cars and the parts and materials used. That can be a real pain in the (lug)nuts for shop and customer alike, but Mark, the service writer, does a terrific and friendly job of keeping everyone happy on both sides of the counter: he gets the parts and supplies I want, or lets me supply them if they're difficult to find, or on the occasion there's some reason I'm not aware of that my choice isn't a good one, he explains and suggests alternatives. As the diagnosis and repair proceeds, he keeps me well informed and promptly asks me whenever there's a decision that needs my input. And he keeps the techs happy by keeping the picky customer (me) out of their hair so they can get the work done. Rod, the owner, is personable and friendly. There is an air of competence about the shop that comes, I think, from the fact that the whole staff work hard and thoughtfully to do each part of every job carefully, correctly, and efficiently. I appreciate that. Also, they'll work on practically anything that has an engine, as long as it can be brought to the shop. Cars (new and old, common and and unusual), trucks (big and little), boats, I've even seen 'em get ailing roto-tillers back into action. Highly recommended.
