We called a few times prior to booking wth questions, everyone was helpful and friendly. The place was easy to find and we were checked in, paid up and on the water quickly. Instructions for driving the boat and navigating the waterways were thorough. The boat was brand new, nice and clean! Better than some rentals for sure. The best part was that there was some rain in the forecast so they kept our phone number handy and contacted us when the radar started to show inclement weather. Anyone looking for a rental in this area- Please look them up!

Both boats were super fun but the service was great. Becky and Cheyann did an amazing job helping us. They were super friendly and very knowledgeable. They cared for us as customers and made sure our experience was great. The one negative was the boat power button that controlled the water for the slide was shot. Becky did her best to rig it up hit it failed later shortly after going out. I was able to rig it myself using her technique but eventually the button failed all together. I purchased a used boat from Dewitt Marine that I was assured was in good running condition by the…read moresales rep. When I picked the boat up, I only made it eight miles when a wheel bearing on the trailer failed. While this was not a direct reflection on the boat's condition, it was preview of coming attractions. Dewitt replaced the failed bearing at their expense but I had to pay for the other three, which their service tech said were not likely reliable. After the wheel bearings were replaced, I picked the boat up again and tried to launch it. The engine turned over but it would not start. So another two hour round trip to take the boat back to Dewitt. They had the boat for a few days and said they found moisture in the engine compartment and bilge. They said they started successfully several times without issue. After another two hour round trip to get the boat, I tried to launch it again and it would not even turn over. Dewitt's response was it sounded like a bad battery and I would be responsible for getting it diagnosed and/or replaced. I now have a boat that I have never heard/seen run and Dewitt will not stand behind their initial assurance it was in good running condition. BUYER BEWARE!

Dale (owner) is on site and available most days and super helpful and friendly. His staff reflects the same as well. We stayed a week and had a blast. Boat dock reserved for you if you have a boat which you can launch for free down at Butch's (as long as it isn't 4th of July week). WISH WE WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT LITTLE PIECE OF INFO!! We rented two jet skis and a 14-person pontoon for a bachelorette party. Unfortunately, our…read moreexperience was disorganized from start to finish. The blonde employee at check-in was professional and attentive, but once we finished the paperwork, no one told us where to go. We were simply told that a young employee talking at the counter was our guide. We waited outside for about 10 minutes before I finally went back inside to ask where we were supposed to be, only to find he had already walked out a side door. During the boat inspection, the guide almost marked the propeller as undamaged despite obvious chunks missing from two of the three blades. We had to point out the damage so it would be documented before we left. Things became much more concerning once we got on the water. We were handed four life jackets for two jet skis, told to wear two of them, and assured the other two would be placed on the pontoon. They never were. Later, one member of our group became uncomfortable operating a jet ski in the busy, choppy water near Torch Lake and needed to switch with someone else. That's when we realized we had no spare life jackets on the pontoon. With nowhere safe to dock, someone had to move between the pontoon and the jet ski without wearing a life jacket. We were immediately stopped by law enforcement and cited. The officer also pointed out that one of the jet skis was missing required registration numbers. When we reached the sandbar, we discovered the pontoon only had two small anchors for a large boat in rough water, and one of the jet skis had no anchor at all. Someone from our group had to spend the afternoon babysitting the jet skis instead of enjoying the day. Given the water conditions, I'm not convinced the jet skis should have been rented out that day to inexperienced riders. We returned about an hour and a half early. The dock staff were rude, instructed everyone to leave their belongings on the boat during fueling, and then criticized my group for not having a payment method at the fuel dock because our wallets were still on the boat. I also went to the office to discuss the safety issues we experienced, only to find the front door locked and no employees inside. Between the missing safety equipment, questionable maintenance, poor communication, and unprofessional customer service, this was not the experience we expected. There are plenty of other marinas in the area, and I would recommend renting from one of them instead

The great: the Pontoon we rented was new and pristine, the staff was very helpful and courteous, the setup they have is nice (they put the boat in the river for you, they bring the boat to your car after to unload, they have a nice changing room, bathroom was good, etc.). The not so good (as it relates to your experience as a boater): going through the Torch River to get to the lake itself. For experienced folks this probably is not a big deal but for beginners (like myself) it was white knuckle in and out with some narrow spots and traffic. If you knick the prop you have to buy them a new one. I was so nervous and didn't want to knick it I had it up higher than most. This makes the boat harder to steer and makes the river that much harder to navigate. They should consider offering prop insurance prior and that way you boat stress free! Once you get on Torch this is a non issue because the lake is huge and you can see the shallow spots with ease. Side Note: when coming back you'll have to u turn to dock and get gas from MK on the river (if you need some). Watch out for a sunken dock/bridge/rock hazard next to the dock on left prior to your u turn! Only a white floating log marks this treachery and you won't know it is to be avoided until almost the last minute.

If you are looking to rent a boat for exploring the lake, M&K is the place to go! I'd like to come back to Torch, and when I do, I will definitely be renting from here again!

There is a really nice park right next door and 2 great sandy beach areas just to the north and to the south. Take your pick! The water is clean and aquarium-esc. A few kelp beds, but hey... They help keep the water clean. In July it fills up quick, so get their before noon, hopefully you'll get a slip, if not, and you have a smaller boat like mine, you'll be climbing the wall, literally. The docks are kinda high (water is low), but that's the case everywhere these days. Although some locals til us that next year (2013) they were planning to add 14 figure floating docks, so that'll be even better, for the smaller vessels. If that's the case, I'd have to give it 6 stars!

When I say changed though, I mean they still have the same great service and location, but the set up of the marina has changed in that it no longer has the peninsula with the tree at the end, instead it has been dredged and reconfigured & modernized. very nice. Not only that but it is convenient to everything in this very small (one horse) village. One note though, the marina offers Air2Access Wifi, which is uber expensive, and ungodly SLOW. DON'T PAY FOR IT! You can get FREE high speed Wifi from the Leelanau township public library not even 50 yards up the street (on the right, next to the post office), where the signal is 4 bars from the street or even the park next door. There is also a Tom's Grocery store 100 yards up the hill (on the left). Great little marina! Can't recommend it enough. 5 stars!
