Received delivery via UberEats for lunch yesterday and boy was I glad I did! I ordered Yang Nyum Du Bu, Jab Chae and a house salad. They were generous with the bulgogi in the Jab Chae although the dish was quite oily. However, the flavor was still there. The Yang Hyum was pretty tasteless for tofu but that's pretty standard. They made up for it with the flavorful sauce that accompanied it. The house salad was a pretty large size and the sesame dressing was delicious but yet again, a tad oily hence the one star removal. The included banchan during lunch was a pleasant surprise. I would rate them 5 stars but due to the oil deducting a star. I picked up take-out here, and loved the comfortable setting and the convenient location -- perfect for window-shopping the small shops while walking from parking to the restaurant. The inside seems narrow, until you take a right and see the ajoining dining room, which is well-decorated and cozy. The hostess was friendly and open to answering questions. The food was pretty good. I got the ya chae pa jun (vegetable pancake), and it was packed with veggies! The kim chee was okay, though I expected more heat to it. The sauce on the dak bul go gi (chicken barbecue) was excellent -- very complex and flavorful, but the chicken itself seemed dry and a little overdone. This is a great place for authentic Korean food. The ambiance is mild to loud noise level. The place is nicely decorated with Korean design. The staff can vary from time to time. The last time we visited the service was absolutely terrible. The one individual acted like it was a chore to wait on us. For the most part the service is pretty good. The food is always delicious and consistent to the amount being charged. We ordered the seafood pancake which is absolutely always full of fillings and flavors. We also ordered the steak strip jab chae which is super delightful and full of vegetables. We also ordered the bulgogi dish. This dish is super good and full of flavor and seasoned very well. They also include a variety a pickled vegetables and radishes. The picketed dishes are very nicely marinated and seasoned extremely well. The worst service that I've ever had. My husband and I visited for lunch with a group in for a convention. I was excited to try the food because it is touted as the best Korean in the city. Our server, was rude from the beginning. When my husband asked for a little extra time so I could look at the menu ( i was speaking at the conference and running a few minutes behind the group), he was told no, nobody should have to wait on you. True to his word, the server left the table without even asking my order, although I was ready by the time he finished with the rest of the group. I gave him a few minutes to return, then I got up and found him myself to place my order. He didn't understand my question about the menu, so I had to get up and find him again to clarify. I never got a glass of water like the rest of our table. The last straw was when our server began bringing out food for the table, he turned to my husband to say we're out of your order. It had been over 20 minutes, everyone else's food was ready, and just now you're letting us know? My husband complained to the manager who did nothing and said the service was due to the lunch rush. I've been in many a busy restaurant. Never has a rush prompted ignoring two people at a table while serving the other 8. And the food was fine. It may be better for other dishes, but my bi bim bap wasn't any better than others I've had at Korea House or even Drunken Bento. It certainly didn't hold up the reputation of the restaurant or do anything to make up for the service. read more

The ambiance was nice and chill; the restaurant is beautifully decorated, like I was stepping into Korea for a bit. Delicious pan fried dumplings and a very good hot pot. I came here because so many people recommended it. The hot pot was huge and it can definitely feed 3-4 people. We chose the bulgogi beef which I wasn't a huge fan of as it was a bit too sweet for my taste but my boyfriend loved it. It came with white rice, and it was certainly filling even without it. The one thing I was confused about were the cold side dishes as the hot pot was very rich and I couldn't see how this fits into the meal. We were there on time, it's a small place, we were seated at the booth, the right side is the seating on the floor and require u to sit with your knee crossed. We ordered the deep fried and pan fried dumplings, both are very good. I ordered Korean seafood pancake, it's so good, and i forgot to take a picture. The decor was suitable for either if you wanted to sit on pillows or have a booth, and I loved the traditional seating options as well as the ability to remove your shoes before the platform. I was able to try the meals of the women I was with, and got to try lots of different Korean flavors, I ordered the Ja Jang Myun and the table ordered the seafood pancake, the latter being my favorite. We opted to try the style of eating on the floor which was a cool experience but if you have long legs beware because its a tight squeeze. There is truly nothing that I love more than a dolsot bibimbop. I have never had one that isn't good, anywhere. Unfortunately big rona 2020 has us unable to enjoy our food in steaming hot chunks of stone that make our food sizzle and crackle and stick the edges with delicious crispiness. So what do you do for Korean takeout? You go to the best Korean food in the area. I called up Riverside and placed a to-go lunch order for two bowls, after asking what they'd do without me getting to utilize that awesome dolsot. The gentleman answering the phone informed me they still use the same process, still throw the food in there and let it sit and crisp up, then mix it up, let it sit some more, and package it. Because of these extra steps they gave me an eta of about 25 minutes, which is still perfectly fine on a Wednesday afternoon. Came in, they had hand sanitizer readily available, and two separate buckets of pens (clean and used), as well as wipes for the credit card and scanner they used for my payment. My order was there, ready to go, and it wasn't long before I got to Goebbels park to dig in. Total treat! Tons of veggies in here, a LOT of different accompanying pickled things (you know how Korean food is, other than Kimchi I don't know the name for any of it, sorry), and probably the best hot sauce I've ever had. Seriously. This stuff was STRONG, but it didn't just add heat, it wasn't just making you sweat and thirsty, it made you want more hot sauce... It's like the instant masochist's condiment, and it was liberally applied to my bowl. Eager to go back and sit down in their cool space when I can eat my food out of a bowl like it properly deserves. Went on a mini tour of Kentucky and decide to check out this Korean restaurant as I've been craving for sundubu They've got regular sitting and yangban seating. So I guess I had to go for the yangban seating since you don't see it everywhere!! We ordered their special soju (falling for yuja) which is a yuzu mixed soju, Kim bap( what's Korean without Kim bap), jham bong and sundubu! The food was amazing at a decent price. Yang Nyum Du Bu was delicious! We Enjoyed the soy based sauce! The Dol Sot Bi Bim Bab is superb! I loved the crispy rice effect that absorbs all of the flavors. Always on the hunt for Koreans stews and found myself here per recommendation by a coworker. I love Korean food and make it all the time at home but often impossible for me make a good bone broth at home and that's what I'm often craving on chilly days. Came here with a few friends one evening specifically for Soondobu jjigae -- traditional spicy korean stew with seafood and soft tofu. And in all honesty - it was okay. Wasn't super flavorful and lacked the kick soondobu jjigae often has. It didn't come out bubbling hot as it usually does. The broth itself was very watery. But I appreciate that they didn't skimp on the seafood. Probably wouldn't come back here again for soondobu - buy the BCD Tofu House soondobu pack at CAM international for about $3-4 and make it at home, came out more delicious than what I had here. Maybe soondobu isn't their strong suit so if I were to come back I'd definitely want to try Seolleongtang (bone broth soup) and see maybe if that'll be better. read more

Always a treat to find a good stone pot bibimbap! Not only does this spot deliver on the bowl but it place offers all the proper fixins to accompany said bowl. There's also some cool traditional floor seating which given the right circumstances could be fun, but I kept it simple. Great find on a day I was traveling thru the area. To be honest I didn't have high hopes on finding a decent Asian restaurant in this area but I was definitely pleasantly surprised here. Nice quant vibe here with decent decor. The restaurant is set up long way and I want to stay a little over a dozen tables. Not huge but accommodating for smaller groups. Food was good and tasted very authentic. I had the bulgogi and the tofu as appetizers. Both were very good and came out quickly. The side dishes were good as well. I always had to flag someone down for attention (order sake, order food, request the check and carry out box). Every waitress who helped me was someone different; I'm not sure who my actual waitress was. They seemed to be prioritizing take out/UberEats/DoorDash orders over the needs of their dine-in customers. This is a really good restaurant. It is expensive but more affordable during lunch, the bento box is great. Everything I have tried has been delicious. I will take pictures next time I go. I have tried their Bul Go Gi, which is spicy grilled beef with rice and veggies, as well as their Dae Ji Bul Go Gii, which is spicy grilled pork with rice and vegetables. I have also tried their Bi Bim Bab which is a bowl of rice, lots of different kinds of veggies, your choice of meat, and an egg on top. And finally, I've tried their Dol Sot Bi Bim Bab, which is the Bi Bim Bap served in a hot stone bowl. The hot stone bowl keeps it hot and makes the rice get nice and crunchy on the outside. Everything I have eaten here has been fantastic. My favorite thing is the Dae Ji Bul Go Gi, followed by the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bab. Apart from the meals I mentioned, all of their sides are delicious as well. On top of the food, the atmosphere is nice. The floor seats are super neat as well. My only complaint about this place is that they are more expensive than other similar restaurants that are equally as good. I'm also sad that the lunch price went up. read more

What a gem! Wow! Great food, great lil authentic set up, and the staff was very helpful in deciding since trying Korean food for the first time! I was in a rush so I grabbed the most basic, easiest quickest lunch box they offer.. I also got a side of the Kim chi just to try ( it's cooked cabbage with a spiced red sauce very good!!) the cucumber side were very delicious as well, it had I'm guessing the same red seasoning/sauce, pickled just right for a crisp and tang taste. My most recent visit to Riverside was definitely a 5-star dinner! We ordered a few different dishes and shared everything, and everyone truly enjoyed all of the food. The Gal Bi (beef, so well done and amazing flavor) and Jab Chae (sweet potato noodles, loves the noodles, vegetables and flavor) were my favorites. My mother was a big fan of the seafood pancake, and all of the dishes came out in a timely manner. We were lucky to snag a table for the 6 of us on a Sunday evening around 5:30, because it was already so busy. I suggest calling in to make a reservation. Horrible experience and buyer beware. I'm in Food & Beverage and I only give negative reviews if the food is truly bad. Bim bab, in the tiniest container possible, looked like it had been thrown on the floor and kicked around, was missing major components, and was completely unseasoned, including salt. No egg was included. Rice was cooked to a gummy mush for the entire order, not only this item. Kimchee with so little flavor that I questioned what it was. The food wasn't even salted, to say nothing of any other seasoning. TO BE CLEAR, I cooked an egg I had at my own home and added salt and rice seasoning I already had. I feel like I should charge this restaurant for the time and personal resources I put into making this something a human would eat. $23.95 for this is criminal and whoever in the kitchen thought this was acceptable to serve a paying patron needs to be let go. I don't say that lightly. I know places have off nights, however, were no redeeming qualities to this food. Not in quality, flavor, portion size, or price. They failed at basic rice. There is no way someone in that kitchen looked at this and thought it was ok to send. We might be in the Midwest and not expect much in regards to the quality or flavor of Korean food, but this took a sledgehammer to the very basic standards of what is acceptable.
