Stopped in for hot chocolate and a bathroom break on a road trip. The food looked delicious, prices were reasonable, and the views were lovely, but the standout thing about this was the staff. They saved our butts, big time, and did so with the kindest spirit and the biggest smiles. My friends and I, three young women traveling alone, were walking on the beach after this when we dropped our rental car keys into a rock quay. After fruitlessly trying to retrieve them ourselves, we went to the restaurant for help, hoping to use the phone to call the rental company. Not even fazed, the lady in charge called two of the kitchen staff to come help us. After nearly half an hour of trying, which involved squeezing into perilously tight spaces amid potentially unstable boulders, they and one of their friends got the keys right as the sun was about to dip behind one of the islands. They saved us from being stranded in the middle of nowhere, thousands of miles from home, and we are beyond thankful. Jared, Johnny, and Lance--you guys are amazing. All in all, Everything came out really well. The food temperature was nice and hot (a key thing for me) and it made everything taste fresh. My wife and I drove here for dinner while we were staying in Sekiu. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. It appears that tax is not charged here. My receipt listed zero tax. The view while dining is amazing. The staff not so much. After being seated it took our server about 20 minutes to ask us what we wanted to drink. My wife ordered the Pike Kilt-Lifter (the only beer on draft) for $6.25. I ordered a glass of Olympic Cellars Chardonnay for $7.75. We waited 40 minutes before I had to ask our server where our drinks were and to gently state that we would like our drinks before our food was served. In response, we were told that she was busy and by herself. Our drinks came out 10 minutes later. My wife and I shared a bowl of Clam Chowder for $5: the chowder was creamy and chocked with clams, bacon, potatoes, celery and onion. We both savored each spoonful. For our meal we shared the Fish & Chips for $9.99. Our meal may have been good if it was served warm rather than cold from sitting on the kitchen ledge for too long. I had to flag down the bus-boy and request that our meal be re-made and served hot. By this time I was becoming a bit irked and truly no longer wanted my meal. The view may be amazing but the view by itself cannot compensate for the servers lack of ability to multi-task or work with any sense of urgency. Several patrons tired of waiting to be seated so they seated themselves. Several patrons were getting up from their tables to grab their own cutlery. Several meals sat for extended periods of time at the kitchen window waiting for pick-up, decreasing in temperature while the kept waitress walking pass. Not once did our waitress ask how our meals were or if we would like another drink. The only interaction we had was with the bus-boy who was working his tail off and doing an outstanding job. My suggestion to the waitress, quit makes excuses (blah blah blah) and actually pick up your step. If the waitress is truly overloaded with work, perhaps additional help needs to be hired or the waitress needs to be replaced with somebody who is competent, efficient and somebody who enjoys working in a hustle bustle type of job. read more

No estimate was given when we sat down how long it would take to get our food but if I'd known that it would take (GET READY FOR THIS....) one hour and 45 minutes after sitting down for brunch to eat I wouldn't have waited. Wow. Terrible experience in a most beautiful location. This place definitely needs consistent, experienced, new management, please. The servers didn't offer us bread while we waited or offer to give us anything free on our bill. The food was relatively good for this area and the view on the water is gorgeous. The service is terrible. Our server was nowhere to be found and overall very lazy. Many tables surrounding us were also having issues. Our entire order came out in reverse, first we got our entrees, then apps, and lastly drinks all within the same minutes. Horrible experience and no one acknowledged it. The server never came over again for us to even mention it was an issue and ruins the meal. They then bring you a check where you fill out the tip before they swipe your card and you have to hand it to the waitress so she knows if you do not want to give her 20% and she confronted the table next to us about it. The bus boy was the only person who was attentive and helped us. If you like snail paced service or are perhaps not from the east coast then you might not be irritated by this terrible service but if so maybe bring sandwiches to enjoy the beach view. read more

What fabulous food!!! Our seafood pasta was incredible. The pasta, shellfish, and veggies were cooked to perfection, which is no easy task, with lots of pesto. With a full house on a Saturday, the two servers were busy, but kind and responsive. Their wine by the glass choices were nice wines in their etched glasses. Went here last March after a drizzly day hike at 2nd Beach. I was slightly cold & soaked, but feeling great after breathing that fresh rainforest air and seeing that gorgeous beach. We were craving something hot, and local seafood, and had no idea about anywhere to go because we are out of state. Basically just drove to the end of the road & there it was. The rain was coming down pretty good, and we ran inside where it was warm to take shelter. First thing - the clam chowder was out of this world! The clams were so delicious, very meaty, hearty, and good! Fish & chips were Alaskan lingcod brought in from native lands by boat. It was the greatest fish & chips I've ever tasted. After that I was just done. This meal totally, completely satisfied me, and I wanted to go out there and fish for more. We emailed the Quilleute tribal council and asked their permission to fish there at the river's mouth, but they would not let us. They track the salmon runs very carefully. We just hung out there for a little while, got warm from the elements, and ended up polishing off a peach cobbler slice. That was excellent also. On the way out of the reservation, there was a sign for smoked salmon so we drove into the village and bought some from a guy with a basket of smoked salmon. The salmon was pretty tasty, a smaller Coho or sockeye salmon and very smoky. You could really feel the smoke inside it afterwards. I ate it with my scrambled eggs on vacation, explored the beautiful folksy region of Forks, and found a secret, awesome place to fish the state still had open a little further away sort of in the mountains. read more

We were really looking forward to supporting a local business and enjoying a meal here but our visit on Monday 8 july 2024 was a pure disaster despite the magnificent setting. There was no way to make a reservation, arrived and there were folks waiting inside and outside. Turns out there was no waiting list? "You're after that group," no estimate of time. Shouting in the kitchen, the front maître d' and the serving staff were overwhelmed and panicked, it felt like there wasn't enough serving staff as clearly some parties had finished but still waiting for the check, for the table to be cleared. Then we overheard that their internet went out so they couldn't process meal orders and payments. After 45 minutes of waiting to be the next party in line, a shouted announcement "We're closed," with no other explanation or apology, sent everyone back to their cars. I hope this was some glitch and they can get their act together, but it sure was disappointing. read more

Really wanted to score this 4 or 5 stars on the food (Salmon Burger with Garlic Fries on menu. Salmon is wild caught according to server.) and the view of the water (we managed to sit at one of the window tables). However, the 2 servers on duty were also handling various other tasks, and were unattentive. We got water within a few minutes, but the somewhat inexperienced server (guessing from her reactions) never returned and I had to flag down the more experienced server to come to our table to take our order. We had noticed that a table that had come in later after us had their order taken. I asked for tomato on the salmon burger sandwich, and was surprised after some questions to find out that the sandwich is only a piece of salmon on tartar sauce on bread. I asked for tomato, lettuce, and pickles. Garlic fries were offered and chosen. Then the wait began. The table that came in after us had ordered the same sandwiches and they were served before us. I asked the inexperienced server when was our order coming up, and she seemed unaware of the delay and when was the kitchen going to have our order ready to serve. She did say our order was coming up next in about 5 minutes. We finally got our sandwiched about 5 or 10 minutes later, food was hot, and was good. In summary, if you have plenty of time to waste/wait and do not expect good table service, the kitchen here makes a tasty grilled salmon. Tough call here..great location with local bald eagle that frequents the area. Was there over Memorial Day Weekend & they literally ran out of food by 7:30 & turned people away. The area has few other choices within miles so those people were screwed. My salmon sandwich tasted pretty good, but seemed to get their last piece as mine was smaller than pictures online. Poorly run and put their incompetence on a wait staff that had nothing to do with the mgmt. f-ups. Has potential, but don't go on any holiday. read more

We were there 2 hours before close and the waitress had informed us that they were out of several items on the menu. We ordered burgers and fries. We waited another half hour for our food. When the plate came out, there were SIX french fries on my plate. The waitress explained that the kitchen ran out of fries so the cooks hand cut a potato and fried it. That would've been great however the fries were raw in the middle. When the waitress came by to refill our water, she was rushing over to us and spilled water on our table. It was very clear they were all very stressed and trying their best though, they need a better system of operation. We were celebrating my birthday on the peninsula and this was the only place we could go. Options are few out in La Push. Anyway, the location is excellent, right near (or perhaps even still on) First Beach. Awesome views of those large grassy-covered rocks jutting out of the sea. Birds soaring (including some eagles!). Fantastic crisp sea air, I could go on.....The restaurant itself had high ceilings and large windows to make sure patrons could enjoy the sights while being inside. Unfortunately the food and service did not match up to awesome mother nature. We stood waiting for several minutes while a flustered server jumped back and forth ineffectively helping those before us. A man came from the back (chef? manager? other?) to explain that 2 people did not show up so they were short-staffed. We nodded and expressed our sympathies. Eventually we just sat ourselves, seeing as there was only one table that could seat us and it was located about 4ft from where we had been standing. While we considered the menu at least 1 other person showed up to help, so things were looking up. After we placed our orders, things sped up considerably. Salads came out (nothing special, just an iceberg blend and 4 types of dressing in small containers to choose from). However, nearly everyone's order was messed up in some manner: 1) my sauteed halibut with vegetables was served as an oil soup in a bowl. Eww. When my bowl was set down I almost said this wasn't my order! I was expecting a plate with a side of veggies (steamed/grilled, whatever) and my sauteed fish. Hello. Not everything tossed all together. I picked out the halibut and moved it to my mashed potatoes (which were weird-tasting and had no gravy or butter or anything to top it with?) to soak up the oil so I could eat the fish. 2) cobb salad did not come with hard boiled egg. What. 3) request for cheese on burger was overlooked. 4) grilled salmon was a tiny, oily piece that still had large bones in it. 5) one order was not even made by the kitchen and when it was done, it wasn't even her food. One person in our group ordered the blackened halibut and his meal was actually quite good. A table next to us ordered various things deep-fried and received a mountain of food. If you find yourself going here, get something blackened or deep-fried, but be prepared to wait. The restroom was gross, needed a clean and a refill of just about everything. As we left, the man from the back came out again and said he hoped we had a great meal. We all didn't know how to answer this, so then he responded, "Well, good enough, am I right?" Awkward, but I think he realized it just was not good. At all. From what I've been told, the restaurant changes management every couple years and so they never quite reach/maintain their groove. The reviews during the off-season reflect very positive experiences. My off-season experience was positive. I didn't expect a fine dining experience so I wasn't disappointed when I didn't receive it. This little place is bright and cheerful and surrounded by dilapidation. The view is of a strip of ocean over a ruined and collapsing pier. Seals played in the water while we waited for our food. The food was extraordinary. Reasonable portions and a little more highly priced than we expected, but you can't fault them for freshness or quality. Four stars, especially since there are very few decent options in the greater Forks metropolitan area. We drove here from Forks to have dinner and enjoy the scenery. Regarding the prices, there is a wide range of options on the menu. You can have perfectly good standard fare (burgers, chowder, salads, etc.), or you can opt for some higher-priced entrees (which we did not). I appreciate that they keep the lower-priced options for people who want to come here but not spend a ton of money. Thank you for that! Our waitress was very kind and was working her behind off along with the rest of the staff. However, we were there for about 2 hours. The staff seemed very overworked (they never were rude though and kept a smile on their faces) and overwhelmed. It was a bit unorganized because of that (ex. People who sat down before us got helped first, this also happened with a few other tables.) Not that this is a big deal, but there also is zero service here and with us being in a new place traveling far from home, it was difficult to stay in contact with family and make sure they knew we were doing okay. There is wifi but we were told by an employee that the owners/managers wouldnt give anybody the password. Im not gonna say who it was that told us because they were very nice and working very hard. After seeing so many rude comments from city slickers here,I must remind you this restaurant is pretty much run by Natives on a reservation so you must realize what to expect. We decided to stop by here when in the area and needing a break from the same ol' food in the nearby town of Forks. It wasn't easy to tell from one meal if their food came off the same food truck that seems to supply the rest of the area,but it was decent. The fries were delicious,but since the prices seemed kind of high I opted to try the Philly 'steak and cheese' sandwich...which was also ok considering I'm not usually a fan of sandwiches. Update: 12/11/15 - The salmon was good,as was the baked potato,green beans,and even the berry cheesecake. They did state that they were in the process of being able to serve alcohol also. The chef came out to check on the patrons,which is what they do at some finer restaurants. The only sort of negative is that the waitress kind of hurried things by keeping asking if we were done and bringing the check too early,I like to savor my food and also sometimes have dessert of some sort...but the early check is pretty common around Forks; Lastly,they didn't have available wi-fi since phone signal is almost nil around there...they do have connection for their credit card machine but password not accessible to public. read more
