honestly this place is really good considering it's in pretty remote place. they for sure price gouge you but where the hell else are you going to get a filet mignon steak without driving 2 hrs round trip. just acknowledge that they have you by the balls and then move on and enjoy the meal. appreciate this restaurant for what it is, don't compare to similar price point fine dining in Seattle. the fish and chips are good, coleslaw was fresh and fish came out piping hot. solid beer batter. NY strip was good but shrimp needs cocktail sauce since it was poached. they should either grill the shrimp and brush with butter and parsley or serve it with cocktail sauce/horseradish. We had a 5:15 reservation and were seated promptly at 5:04 since the restaurant was not particularly busy -- in hindsight, perhaps that should have been our first clue. Our party included 3 adults - my son, daughter and myself. Our waitress brought drinks and took our order at 5:06 - a promising start. Unfortunately, that was the last time we saw her until our food arrived at 5:58. No check-ins, no refills, no updates, nothing. When my daughter unwrapped her silverware, the utensils were filthy with food caked on from the previous user. We understand mistakes happen, so she simply grabbed a clean setup from the empty table beside us and moved on. In hindsight this was a red flag. The real disappointment was the food. My son ordered the Spicy Shrimp Pomodoro Pasta. The dish arrived with exactly four shrimp and what can only be described as a child-sized portion of angel hair pasta placed in the center of an oversized plate. The shrimp themselves were seasoned well enough, but the pasta was devoid of any seasoning whatsoever. It was bland to the point of being unfinished. My daughter and I both ordered the Chicken Marsala, a dish we regularly enjoy at many restaurants. What arrived was a very small chicken cutlet (I cannot in good faith call it a chicken "breast" as stated in the menu) with sauce, a scoop of mashed potatoes, and a grilled vegetable.The whole dish was lukewarm at best. The chicken was shockingly dry - genuinely some of the driest chicken I've ever been served in a restaurant. It honestly tasted as though it had been cooked days before and reheated. We've had beef jerky with more moisture. At that point we wanted to speak with our waitress, but once again she was nowhere to be found. No doubt hiding in the kitchen because she had to have known what she was serving us. We ate what we could because we still had a drive of more than two hours ahead of us and did not want to stop again elsewhere. We refused to let the experience completely ruin our evening, but it absolutely put a damper on what was supposed to be a nice dinner for my son's last night in town. For a dinner that ultimately cost well over $125, the overall experience was incredibly disappointing. Long stretches with no service, dirty utensils, and extremely dry entrées are simply not what one expects at that price point. Poor service can happen anywhere. Serving food of this quality while seemingly absent from the dining room altogether reflects a much larger issue with how customers are being treated. We frequent the Olympic Peninsula, but we will never eat at Kalaloch Lodge again. read more

Our last stop in Olympic National Park - staying in Kalaloch Lodge - their restaurant is the Creekside Restaurant - we had a lovely drink at the bar while we waited for our reservation time to come - pleasant bartender poured nice drinks, pleasant hostess seated us at a nice table, dinner was good, satisfying - we were so hungry, we forgot to take pictures lol - chicken Marsala was pretty good and the kids' burgers were also good - good enough to return in the morning for breakfast - which was made perfectly and tasted good - thank goodness - there isn't anything else nearby! Came for lunch with my family. It was an interesting experience. The view is nice, if they let you sit by a window. The service itself started off well, but the kitchen is very very slow. We had two burgers that were pretty good. We had two crab Mac and cheeses at $40 each. They had about a teaspoon's worth of crab on a huge plate of pasta. It was ok, but not near worth that price! Beware! There was a wine menu, offering by the glass and by the bottle. My husband wanted a third glass (I was driving), and was told they had a two drink max. It was bizarre!!! Ordered dessert, and that took longer than the food to come out, and it was mediocre. I think this place was odd and a rip off. First off, took over an hour and a half to get our food for lunch. Service was dismal as we were greeted by our waitress on arrival and as she was delivering food to other tables that came in after we did, I tried to get her attention to find out the status of our meal. Finally was able to speak with her. twenty minutes after she said it would be right out it finally came. To our chagrin, The fish and chips were very overcooked and granddaughters burger was burnt on the bottom as well. Waitress seemed oblivious to our concerns. Trying something new this Thanksgiving! Staying in the Olympic National Park's Kalaloch Lodge with Thanksgiving dinner at Creekside. We had a 5 pm reservation and were promptly seated upon arrival. We had a table for two by the window but it quickly got dark. Wow the buffet was amazing! The turkey was moist and flavorful, loved the cranberry sauce- my favorite part of the meal, the gravy was tasty, delicious green salad with poppyseed dressing. Dinner met my expectations! Nice selection of wine/beer/ spirits cocktails. Cost was $55 all you can eat. Pricey yes but hey, it's one holiday in the year to splurge and live outside the lines. Had no idea the NP parks did holiday meals stumbled upon this service while at the Lake Crescent Lodge in the fall. So glad we did something different this year! Kalaloch sits on the WA coast- beautifully wild! Our server was very attentive and friendly. All around great experience! read more

We visited Creekside Restaurant while on our way to hike on October 11. I remember the date because was my husband's birthday weekend. I will start out by saying, when we first sat down we were ready to leave. It was a chilly fall day out and we just wanted a cozy place to eat, but that didn't happen. After we sat down, my husband went to the hostess and asked if she could close the window behind the hostess area? She said no because the kitchen was hot. We were a little irritated because why should the customer suffer for what should be remedied in house. We then just buttoned up our jackets and waited to order our food. I'm not sure if we hit the restaurant between changing of the wait staff shift or what, but it took a long time to get someone to come over to greet us and start our order. Once we got a waiter I will say he rescued the rest of our first experience there. I wish I could remember his name because he was super nice and he was even able to get the window closed. The food was fine, I have no complaint there. Would I eat there again, yes we probably would. I would definitely want to have some input as to what table we land at, especially if the window is open on a cold fall day. read more

The food tasted OK but lunch turned into an over 2 hour ordeal. We ordered takeout but the staff didn't mention the wait. We received our order with no silverware, no tartar sauce for the fish and chips and missing chicken for the salad. It took two trips to the restaurant to get it sorted out and another 40 minute wait for the missing chicken. The staff forgot to enter it and still wanted to charge me for their mistake. I was hangry by then and negotiated not paying for the missing chicken, which was good as the salad with a few pieces of chicken is not worth $24. While I was waiting another party left saying they waited for an hour for food with no updates. Horrible service and meh food. Bring your own food to Klaloch as there are few options here. read more

This meal was amazing! The service was fantastic. Our waitress played close attention to my dietary restrictions and was very knowledgeable of the menu. My family got multiple different items - the crab Mac N Cheese, Elk Burger, Filet, Salmon, House Salad, and the Halibut special. All items were fantastic and well prepared. Overall, it was a perfect dinner location. Also - Perfect little spot if you want to visit the beach and/or Tree of Life. My wife and stayed at Kalaloch Lodge this December and had the opportunity to join Creekside Restaurant for their first Wine Pairing Dinner Experience. The service was amazing as not only were our servers actively waiting on us, but Chef Bo would explain the significance of each dish. We were seated only with the others who had the experience, so we felt very exclusive. This restaurant makes us feel like we are in a warm cabin as we could look out and have a view of Kalaloch. Each dish had an appropriate pairing with wine and had its own unique flavors. Personally, the duck with blood orange was my favorite dish. My wife and I highly recommend this dining experience. Even the takeout was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. The workers clearly didn't want to be there and let us know by ignoring us. We were treated with next to no courtesy and waited almost 30 minutes for our food at a time when there were barely any other customers. The lack of service made the subpar food taste even worse. - Fish and chips: $22.99: for this price, we got 3 pitiful-sized fish that tasted average. The fries were of lower quality than fast food fries and the coleslaw was awful, very bitter. At least the tartar sauce and the ketchup were good. - Northwest Elk Burger $22: this included a good-sized thick patty that tasted slightly more gamey than beef. The bottom pretzel bun was so soggy with sauce that it was wet through, while the top bun was burnt on one side. The caramelized onions and bacon jam were one-dimensionally sweet and the burger overall was alright (it's hard to mess up a burger), but greasy. The kicker was that the PLASTIC WRAPPER was still attached to the cheese. This is unbelievable and unacceptable. It makes me wonder which other food preparation details they were sloppy on. The only good things were the location and building, both of which were beautiful. The prices are somewhat justified since they are the only option around. Where to start, First and last time here, partially because we are on vacation and from out of state, partially because the food quality is not up to the standards of what they are charging. We had the pub burger ($20) and "the Oscar" (salmon topped with buttered crab, roasted asparagus and a potato mash with Bernard's sauce -$34). We should have went with our first instincts and went somewhere else. My table mates had the $20 pub burger and was very disappointed in it. It was bland with no seasoning, very generic burger that you could get for much less somewhere else. The fries that came with needed a heavy salt and pepper since they were not seasoned. The "Oscar" came on a slate, not a dish, with the bearnaise sauce in a separate cup. It was a bit of a challenge to pour the sauce on without it puddling over the side. Again wrong vessel to serve this dish on. The bernaise sauce was very sweet like honey or sugar was added to it. Really weird tasting and on the cool side like it had been sitting for a bit. The salmon came stacked on top of the mash and two asparagus spears. The crab was on top and micro greens on top of that. It was a generous piece of salmon but was very dry. The seasoning was ok. The crab was good but small amount. Also, it would be nice if they offered a bread basket for the dinner service. At these prices that would have made the costs a little more worth it. Good news! The challenge with the Olympic Peninsula is there is a limited number of lodges and restaurants in the south. We really wanted this to be a wonderful dinner, but it just didn't work out. Everything took forever. My guess is that they're simply understaffed. The menu is fairly limited. I had the Fish and Chips which were OK. My wife had a Caesar Salad with grilled chicken (which was tough). I had to ask for extra tartar sauce twice. By the time it got there, I was just tired of my meal. This restaurant is located inside the Kalaloch Lodge. There's ample parking available. It's a few minutes away from the tree of life. Food is quite good. Their clam chowder with sourdough bread was so creamy and delicious. The grilled shrimp was juicy. And of course, you could never go wrong with chocolate torte. The place gets really busy. My boyfriend and I stayed at Kalaloch Lodge for the weekend. We did some grocery shopping to cook one of the dinners in the cabin, as the restaurant had some not great reviews. The second night, we were starving after hiking throughout the Hoh Rainforest. We were not expecting anything good, but we got the elk burger and added mushroom and fries, the regular burger and added bacon and a cup of clam chowder, and smoked salmon dip to start. We were SO surprised when we had our first bites. The smoked salmon dip was so smoky and delicious. I don't think I'd need it again but we were happy we ordered it. The 2 burgers were the absolute star of the meal. They were just perfectly cooked to medium. Super thick half pound patties with amazing texture. I am assuming they come frozen due to the slow rate of visitors in the winter but they tasted amazing somehow. The elk burger had an AMAZING bacon jam relish type thing that was mouthwatering. The mushrooms were a great addition. And a pretzel bun is hard to beat :) The regular burger could have used a "special sauce" but it was still delicious and the bacon was thick and delicious. I'm not sure if it is a winter thing, but it was order at the register and seat yourself. No table service. Was totally fine with that! I am thinking the bad reviews are coming because the prices are pretty "high". Sure, the place isn't cheap, but gourmet burgers are still in the same range of this price. Very surprised at this little restaurant inside the Kalaloch Lodge! I didn't feel like dining in so I ordered take out and ate upstairs. I ordered a herb roasted thyme chicken with veggies and rice. The chicken was huge! It was half a chicken and roasted well. The wait time was only 15 mins and I had a buzzer with me which was helpful. There is practically nothing out here in Olympic National Park so to have an actual restaurant to dine in with a real dinner was nice. This is one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. And the only reason it survives is because it's attached to the only hotel in the region and there's not really any food for miles. I came because I was staying at the Lodge and my sister and I were tired of eating peanut butter sandwiches (we had been exploring Mount Rainier and Olympic National Parks). We were seated quickly but our server was too busy gossiping with a friend to pay much attention to us. We ordered the cheese plate as an appetizer and the crab mac & cheese and fish and chips as entrees. The cheese plate arrived but I had to ask for silverware. And she seemed angry I asked. She didn't bring back plates for us to use so we ate the cheese off the napkins. The fish and chips was bland and just weird. Same with the crab mac and cheese. I was hungry after a long day of hiking and driving but their food was unfinishable. People who say their food was delicious ... I really question where they go out to eat. We stayed at the lodge and wanted to try the restaurant. The view is spectacular and the food is tasty; however, the overall service was awful. We ate here in April 2022, and this establishment has been impacted by the labor shortage in front and back of house. Half of the restaurant wasn't open for seating because of being short staff. The hostess was also the bartender and he was responsive and made delicious drinks. The supply chain has impacted their drinks selection. Our server, was inexperienced and pushy. They brought our main entrees (roasted chicken) out before our appetizer. When we said we no longer needed the appetizer because we wanted it prior to our main entree; they responded that they had it almost done in the kitchen, and then just plopped it in the table; disregarding our comment. They left the serving tray stand by our table and didn't pick it up until they picked up our payment; with the stand there, it essentially blocked us in the corner. They didn't ask us for any drink refills. While we were still eating our main dish, asked us if we left room for dessert. And we responded, no, because we are still eating our dinner. They left and came back with the bill and told us "here's the bill, no rush." They only came back to collect the bill and didn't provide any additional service I.e. drink refills, ask if we wanted dessert again, etc. The chicken was moist and flavorful. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and it was so delicious and memorable; would recommend this for a hot summer day. The restaurant can be very sunny, even with the blinds down, so maybe bring sunglasses. We noticed a lot of guests ordering to-go, and would probably go this route next time if the weather is dry to eat outside; since the overall indoor service was undesirable. read more

Creekside restaurant at Kalaloch Lodge is a decent option (and one of the only options in the area) for dining. The views from the dining room are beautiful of the bluff and beach. There are more options than your typical burgers/grill option at most National Park dining, and the prices will certainly be higher just due to the location in the park. read more

The food needs serious improvements. Let's start there. While at the restaurant two other tables sent back their food for being under done or not very good. For the prices listed I would expect better. Even as we were leaving another couple complained on the lack of flavor. The clam chowder was literally cream with potato's and had some odd sweet flavor other than clams. The lobster mac and cheese had no flavor and seemed like the lobster was old. The fish and chips were all breading lacking flavor. The burger was done medium as requested but had no flavor at all. The only thing that was working is the French fries. They actually had a truffle flavor. It's something to start with I guess they could build on that. The service was good which is why I even gave it a 2 but they food with lack of flavor was a "Don't waste your time or money if you can make it down the road to anywhere else." As said in the other reviews, it took them a really long time (20+ minutes) to serve us the food. We were really tired and needed a rest anyway so we didn't complain. My salad base was interesting (in a positive way) - a mixture of ingredients with various flavors and textures that went well with each other. The house-smoked Salmon was served in chunks instead of a steak as I expected. It tasted good but was a bit too heavy/salty for me. My friend's burger looked gigantic and came with a fruit cup. It seemed like he enjoyed it a lot. The salad wasn't filling enough for me so I added a broccoli side at the end. It was served faster than before and tasted good too.
