This golf course has undergone remarkable transformations since the homeowners purchased it! In particular, the past year has been nothing short of spectacular. My husband and I golf here at least three days a week, and it's simply breathtaking! If you're visiting Bend or a local who hasn't been in a while, you must check it out. You won't be disappointed. I even walk my one-year-old through the 18 holes, and he absolutely loves seeing all the wildlife, especially the deer. You should really check it out! read more

Cool views from certain holes, but layout is short and holes are hidden. Too many blind shots. Yardage is suspect. Par 5's especially. Wouldn't pay more than the GolfMoose special of $49 for this course. No welcome when we checked in. Old guy just asked for our reservation numbers and told us to be done before 5pm because a shotgun tournament was starting in the front 9. Thanks for telling us when we made the tee time! We wouldn't not have made. Felt rushed. Whatever to that. We played with no warm up and tried to enjoy the round. First n last. Oh well. read more

River's Edge Golf Course - Hole 3 - Golf Near Me - Bend, Oregon

Nice course located on the side of Awbrey Butte that winds among a residential development. River's Edge can be challenging if you're not accurate and aren't familiar with the holes. Missing the correct landing area by just a bit often puts you in deep trouble. There are a lot of blind and semi-blind shots, as well, so if you haven't played here before, you just have to hope for the best. By semi-blind, I mean shots where you can see the landing area but can't see what sort of trouble you'll be in hitting left or right and can't see what you'll be faced with on the next shot. Several holes are somewhat diabolical, such as the postage stamp, extreme downhill par 3 16th, and the 'let's put a huge rock outcrop in the middle of the fairway' 8th. You get a taste of the nature of the course design on the first hole, a blind/semi-blind (depending how long you are) extreme downhill dogleg where it's really hard to judge correct distance and direction. Many greens are hard to hold with anything but a short iron and missing the green is punitive. So, if you're a short hitter as I am, you will find scoring difficult. The winter greens are ice fast. Maybe they slow up as the season warms. Bunkers are generally good but sometimes poorly raked and full of tree debris. I played two rounds where I was the first one off and found bunkers heavy with footprints and generally just bad. The sand is good, though. Watch out for neighborhood walkers, especially on the 3rd where the Deschutes River Trail is just below and in front of you on the tee box. My golf game is erratic enough without throwing in the anxiety caused by fear of whacking an innocent civilian. The trail is so close, there is no time to warn someone by yelling Fore! I wait until the trail is clear but given how popular it is, that may not always be possible. And it's not just on the trail. One time, I drove up to my ball just on the left edge of the fairway on a par 4 to find a neighborhood dog sniffing it, with its owner just a few yards away. Carts are electric and in decent shape. And they apparently have golf boards. Haven't tried one yet. You can walk, obviously, but you'd best be in good condition. There are elevation changes on virtually every hole. Driving range is adequate although not large. Practice putting green is also adequate. There is no practice short game area. I would ordinarily rate River's Edge as 3 stars but I'm bumping that up to 4 because I find the course very interesting. Unlike some courses where the holes seem cookie-cutter, at River's Edge there are plenty of opportunities for cautious contemplation of shot selection. In other words, this is not a grip it and rip it course, and that's a good thing in my book. read more

This course is beautiful, well kept, and challenging! The course is on a giant hill with many elevation changes, I'd recommend getting a cart. The only thing I'm not head over heels about is the new construction of houses hugging the sides of the course. But definitely I'm looking forward to playing here again. read more

I have played this course 5-6 times to due to it's price and convenience but I regret it very time as it's one of the least enjoyable courses I have ever played. The staff is nice, the course is usually in decent shape and it's usually pretty cheap on GolfNow but I would avoid. This is a perfect example of what happens when you simply fit a golf course to the space instead of designing it. There are multiple holes that just don't make any sense (par 5s that dog leg 90 degrees 425 yards out, fairways where drives that hit the middle roll out of bounds, 200+ yard par 3 where green is 75-100 feet below the tee box, random trees that block shots to green from fairway, etc.) . Many of the greens are on a table top with little rough surrounding them. Play elsewhere. read more

Some incredible views but the course needs some TLC. Tee boxes are uneven and grass is sparse. Greens are in bad shape. One had a huge burn mark, some had sand as filler. Standing water from over watering. I had a golf now rate and still paid too much. read more

The employees were amazing, front desk and bar just straight top tier. The staff is amazing. The course itself was absolute dog shit. (There was dog shit on a tee box) Don't even worry about hitting from the bunkers. Full of weeds. No Sand just straight dirt. The pin locations were in the worst possible locations. Greens keeper basically is getting paid to ruin everyone's day. Must be hammered when he put the holes in. Way over priced. Would come back just for the staff not even to golf. read more

This place looks nice from the road but don't be fooled. Course is in terrible shape. Range balls look like they belong to the driving range in tin cup. Front desk staff unbelievably uninterested. Whatever you do don't try to book a solo tee time, they will make you wait an hour to pair you up because they don't send singles? Buyer beware! Shady practices all around. Made an online reservation through Chronogolf and was told we could reschedule. When I attempted to do so I was forced to call the clubhouse. Then I got the runaround and only Pat, the clubhouse manager, could reschedule. After calling multiple times, finally got ahold of Pat, who could not accommodate our schedule and offered to cancel the tee time and refund our money. He repeatedly reassured me that he would personally make sure that Chronogolf refunded our money. I was not refunded a few days after the tee time was originally scheduled and called Pat again. He again said he would "fix things" and call or email me back by the end of the day. A week went by and he did not call, email, or have our money refunded. I called the clubhouse and left 4 messages over the past week. Guess who still hasn't returned any messages? Avoid the hassle and golf at a different course in the Bend area. read more

DISCLAIMER: I am not a golf fanatic. You know how some people go to parties "for the food"? Well, I play golf for the beer and for the cigars. And also because my boyfriend is an avid and MAD-talented golfer. So what you are going to read here is a non-golfer's review of a golf course. What's pretty, what's not, and any other random thoughts that come to mind. If you want a technical evaluation of a golf course, including whether the tee boxes are level (apparently that's important)... this is NOT the review for you. I suggest you read the other reviews here (if there are any) or go buy one of those fancy-schmancy golf magazines. K? K!! Let's roll... The twilight rate at this course is one of the best deals in Bend. Any time after 3 or 4pm (depending on the day of the week) it's about $40 with a cart. And believe me, you want the cart. Walking this course is not for the faint of heart. It's a long, steep walk up the road from the 8th green to the 9th tee! And the back 9 are up and down and up and down... so either be fit or get a cart. I know, golf could be great exercise except for that cart. But then where would I put my beer? There are homes on the course but the natives are friendly... mostly. We also spot deer, birds, rock chucks, and LOTS of bunnies if you are into critter-watching. Driving range is grass and uncovered. Which is great during the summer for burning off frustration! Number 16 is a great par 3 with beautiful views from the tee boxes and a downhill shot to the green... wow! I can even make par on this hole, it's so short. And the view goes past the green and down to the city and the countryside. Lovely! read more

The course has some nice views. The greens are only in moderate shape. There are patches on almost all of the greens. Our biggest issue was more with the grounds crew doing work in front or behind you while you play the whole. They do not pause or even acknowledge you are playing the whole. How can you play golf with a guy on a mower circling the green 120 yards away. This happened on 40% if the holes we played. We would raise our hands but no response. To top it off we went to the pro shop to tell them how unhappy we were and how it totally ruined our round of golf. The manager looked annoyed as he said, 'we'll take a note of it". How do you run a successful course? Not like this. Your patrons should NEVER be treated with such indifference. I would never waste my time / money again at this course. They should be much more considerate of paying customers and wake up to how success happens. Absolutely pathetic. To many other good courses that treat you well to choose this course. read more

Great choice for golf, close in to Bend. Challenging course in good shape. Pro shop staff is helpful and friendly (none of that resort course attitude found at more expensive courses 15 miles south of Bend). Front 9 fun and easier than hilly back 9. Pace of play excellent, both rounds I played were under 4 hours. Affordable. Only reason I knocked off star 5 was the abundant water hazards were dry. Not sure why, fairways and greens were in excellent shape. read more

This course is very expensive to play with the course being in terrible shape!! It's FULL of ground squirrel holes and the public is free to walk around the course, so when take a shot you never know if someone is walking in the shots path! Very dangerous, they also set you up for failure by posting signs on the tee boxes that the golfers are responsible for houses or people getting hit with your ball, even when the public who are not playing are jogging, walking or riding bikes around blind corners! They also do not stagger tee times so even on week days you get backed up, sometimes 3 deep waiting to tee off! I know you should put your ball in play, but let's be honest it's a public course and we are not pro's so ALL of us put one OB now and then, but I have NEVER seen so many people not playing just not paying attention on blind corners of a golf course!! Even the pros put one on the path. Stay away from this course and play nicer maintained courses for far less money, but if you do play it, bring extra balls since you will lose them down a gofer holes if you are in the fairway. read more

Played 36 today and really enjoyed it. Fun and challenging layout. Was glad I boarded so I could scope out some of the blind shots a bit. They were three weeks post-punch but rolled pretty true. Do yourself a favor and drive a few miles to Widgi Creek. This course is in fair shape and really not worth the green fees being charged. If you are looking to just hit some balls at the driving range, make sure you call before showing up. The range is down more than up for just stupid reasons like they ran out of balls. Hate that I have to drive to another course considering I live 1/4 mile away from Rivers Edge. Disappointing - the management of this course is lacking. read more

I wasn't playing today. I was walking by on the River Trail. A group of golfers was at the tee, and one of the guys unzipped his pants and started peeing. He was looking right at me; made no attempt to cover himself. I said 'classy' and he just smirked. I realized that one of the carts was an employee. I walked along and the employee cart came alongside me and I stopped him and asked him what he was going to do about the guy peeing in plain sight of joggers and families. He said he did not have the authority to do anything. I pointed out that another of the guys was now peeing in exactly the same spot. He said 'OK, I'll go talk to them'. Maybe River's Edge needs to invest $100 a month in a portapottie. read more

Nice course. Stay in the fairway or you'll be hitting off rocks, under sage brush or good luck finding your ball. This course is difficult, but not because of the layout, but because of all the blind shots. I think you can see the flag from maybe 4 of the 18 holes from the teebox. Get a power cart, the elevation changes are on every hole. It may only be 20 ft up right at the green, but it will wear out even the best in shape golfers. read more

This is probably one of the worst courses in central Oregon. It's overpriced and absolutely impossible to walk. There is little rough and then scrub that swallows golf balls. The greens need improved badly. They are lumpy and do not roll true at all, not to mention very slow and inconsistent. With all the options for golf available in central Oregon you should avoid this one. read more

Service and prices were good! Fairways were making a little TLC and should be set up with yardage markers down the fairway, with such an awesome set up could easily be a premiere golf course! paid $25 for a golfnow "hot deal" in the middle of the day. Had to rent clubs, for a steep $35, and noticed the course fee didn't include a cart, that's an additional $17(!). Already $60 deep, I set forth on my round to find that the tee boxes were rock hard and the set they had given me to rent was a senior set. That explains why each club felt like I could snap it in half with one hand. The front nine was easily the worst 9 holes since I started playing golf. A set designed for elderly people didn't perform well for a physically able 26 year-old--go figure. So after the front 9 I went back to the clubhouse to see about exchanging the set for a real one. The lady at the pro shop was pretty unsympathetic and pointed me toward a different set. Walked out to hole 10 determined to turn the tables, only to realize the set was a lefty set. My bad for not checking, I guess. I returned them once more, and the other options as far as rental sets were more of the flimsy senior demo sets. I left before playing the 10th hole in utter disgust. It would require me to be paid handsomely to play here again. read more

I had heard good things about this golf course from some friends of mine that vacationed here a few years ago. I showed up and found a very wet and very over watered course. Mud holes, and the greens were not in very good shape. I rode by one of the workers on the course that was busy hooking up sprinklers to an already saturated area and wondered why they think that it needs more water. Don"t bother showing up here to play you will be highly disappointed. read more
