The only reason for star-deduction was the $7 surcharge that the salon adds for trimming your cuticles -- a manicure by definition includes removal of the cuticles so it doesn't make sense to charge so much. I've been coming to this nail salon every two weeks for over a year now and could not be happier with my experience thus far. The staff has always been so friendly and professional, and I've left satisfied each time. They also make you feel like you are royalty by offering a complimentary beverage with each service, such as water, a cold glass of bubbly, a cocktail, coffee, etc. They have so many different colors and all colors come in regular polish, dip, gel etc. - making it incredibly easy to match nails and toes, even if using a different 'type' of polish. My nail tech even gave me suggestions that helped improve the overall quality and strength of my nails, allowing them to grow longer than they ever have before. Also, if you struggle with calluses on your feet, you must try their pedicure #41. I've never seen so much dead skin be removed from my feet and can't imagine not incorporating this pedicure into my ongoing selfcare routine - seriously life changing! I was a regular at a different salon prior where they made me feel bad anytime I asked for a different length, shape, etc. The staff at Riverfront Nail Lounge have never made me feel this way as satisfying their customers is clearly their top priority. The worst nail salon experience of my life - avoid at all costs! I came into this salon with a clear idea of what I wanted--short nails--but the technician completely disregarded me and did the opposite. I repeatedly told them I wanted short nails, but they ignored me entirely and gave me long nails I never asked for. When I tried to express my concerns, they showed no accountability whatsoever. Things got worse when I sustained a work injury, and my nails started breaking off--taking parts of my real nails with them. It was incredibly painful. When I called the salon to explain the situation and request help removing the nails, I was shocked at how unprofessional they were. They laughed at me over the phone and started talking about me in their language, which felt blatantly disrespectful. When I went back to have the nails removed, the technician handled it so carelessly that I was in excruciating pain throughout the process. They showed no concern for my discomfort and continued to laugh and dismiss me as if it were a joke. To add insult to injury, they charged me for removing the nails that they improperly applied in the first place. When I later called back to request a refund for this nightmare experience, they laughed again. Their behavior was outright disgusting--rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional in every way imaginable. Now, thanks to their negligence, my nails are so damaged they won't grow back for another eight months. I've never been treated this poorly in any business. I Recently scheduled a dip manicure at Riverfront Nail Lounge. I regularly get dip manicures but at other locations in KC. I was hugely disappointed in the service I received. I did not get a manicure but basically a polish change. They did not do any cuticle care and it had been 3 weeks since my last manicure so I knew my cuticles needed some trimming. They also did not use the UV light to bake in the dip polish and there was no after care such as cuticle oil, lotion or massage of my hands and fingers. Worst customer service ever. I came in here for the first time and decided to get a pedicure done. The lady was rough on my feet even though I told her she was being rough. She continued. The owner/boss was being rude and ignored what color I wanted on my nails. I left very unhappy. I decided to come back another time, and I had Loc do my pedicure. She did an amazing job. However I called the past few weeks for another nail tech and she hasn't been in. So I will not be returning, because they are rude and mean to their workers. I've tried this spot several times. I like the location. The ladies are nice. It seems as though they need to be an appointment only shop. They have rushed through my nails several times. If I could rate them a zero I would. My wife and I set an appointment for late afternoon yesterday to end the weekend relaxing. We were treated very very poorly as of we were not welcome and a bother to the staff. I watched other black people be treated poorly as well and even leave while we were there. The lady was extremely pushy trying to get me to upgrade my service and seemed to Pictish me for asking for warmer water by making it go too hot. She proceeded to grab my toe so tight to the point it hurt. At at point during the service I asked my wife if she wanted me to just pay and we leave. When I realized she rushed my manicure I asked could she clean up my obviously rushed cuticles because I have an important photo shoot today and she got an attitude. The lady doing my wife then tried to take the tool she was using on my wife's toes and use it on me. At this point I said don't worry about it and paid and let them finish my wife. The manager tried to give a discount but I paid in full and still tipped. Being black often comes with mistreatment but this experience was one of the worst I've encountered. Immediately the woman doing my toes took an actual chunk out of my toe with the razor tool (see picture), it's still bleeding the next day She barely apologized and didn't give any discount for hurting me. She immediately proceeded to drench the woman next to me while filling her pedicure tub, literally got her wet from head to toe including her phone and barely apologized to her either. Make appointments conveniently online through their website and receive a text confirmation/reminder. Great variety of color options for regular, dip, and gel polish. Most if not all of the regular polish bottles look brand new, no old bottles. Kind, clean, affordable, quality service. $25 for a regular polish manicure, $35 for a gel manicure, and $40 for a dip manicure. Drink offerings such as wine and even mimosas! Perfect for a leisurely day of brunch and nails with the girls so your bottomless mimosas never end! Plus, 15% off your first visit. I don't necessarily recommend visiting during peak times (evenings and weekend) if you're on a time crunch. Nail technicians take their time to deliver quality service and may be working on more than one customer at once. On a Sunday, I made an appointment online for dip acrylic nail removal and a regular polish manicure. From the time I arrived to the time I left it was approximately 1.5 hours. For the dip acrylic nail removal, the nail technician used the electric nail drill first and then had me soak in a bowl of hot acetone. Then, she clipped and filed my nails, cleaned my cuticles, applied lotion and massaged my hands, and lastly applied the paint - clear base coat, two color coats, and a final clear top coat. Atmosphere wise, I've only been twice, so they may vary between music and TV. However, last time I was there they had MTV playing on the flat-screen TV (a show called Ridiculousness and a Will Ferrell movie). read more

I have came here multiple times and I always enjoy my time, I don't typically get very hard designs so I'm kindof biased when I say my nails turn out pretty... but the most recent time I came , I came with my friend who is not white and I was extremely disappointed with how they treated her, she got a manicure and her toes painted by the time I was HALF way through my pedicure, it was like they were rushing her ? I go here once a month now (5 months now) and never have had such a great spa like experience! Unfortunately with my career I can't get my nails done on my hands, but that doesn't stop the ladies from giving me a great manicure and hand massage. The pedicure services is all I can get and I wouldn't trade them! I've been getting my hands and feet done for years and I've been to multiple places in KC, this is my favorite. With the deluxe pedicure you get your choice of so many fragrances (my personal favorite is eucalyptus) a massage (includes some good toe popping) and a paraffin wax treatment!! The service at this nail salon sucks!! I'm new here from Las Vegas and I went to get my nails done there. I will never go to this place again. I was waiting to get my nails done and was waiting for 25 minutes with an appointment. A white woman walked in and they immediately took her and her appointment was after mine. Then they rushed to get my nails done which was ugly afterwards and pushed me out of my seat for their white customer. I believe first impressions are lasting and I received a negative racist impression from the women at this nail shop. I came here a couple weeks ago and had a great experience with my mani/pedi. I'm fairly new to the area and have been trying a lot of places looking for a new "home" salon and thought I hit the jackpot. Even though I was a walk in, they had me in a chair with a mimosa within 30 mins. I loved it so much, I decided to bring a friend and made appointments for the both of us, requesting the same technician since she did a great job the first time. Unfortunately, my second experience was incredibly disappointing. They don't seem to honor appointments (or even write them down when people call), and we waited almost an hour past our appointment time before we were seated. I was not offered a drink, I had multiple people working on getting my nails soaked off and in the end, I don't think I ever saw the tech I had requested. I still haven't stopped apologizing to my friend about it... I really talked this place up to her and feel so bad about this experience. I will say that so far, this manicure doesn't look too bad so points for consistency, I guess. Not sure if I'll be back but if I do, I probably won't make an appointment. December 13th 10am...I am the only client present and it is my birthday. I specifically asked Tom to SOAK my nails off but he insisted on ripping them off. My left hand was the first victim. He ripped the nails off so badly that one of my nails is pulled away from the skin and has now become infected to a point where no other nail salon will touch it and my nail is blue/green and my finger throbs every day. Upon telling him multiple times he was hurting me, he agreed to soak off the right hand. When I told him I was not happy with the way my nails were turning out, he threatened to cut all my nails off and kick me out. At this point I was scared of him and still the only person there so I stayed quiet. When it came time to pay, the lady tried to charge me $80 instead of the original total of $65. when I explained To her that I wasnt going to pay extra and only Pay the $65 on the clove reader she got upset and tried to tell me I wasn't paying enough. The people are extremely nice, pleasant and always eager to help. Lee does a fabulous job of making sure his work is on point and that you are completely satisfied. They provide a complimentary drink with your service and right now with their grand opening they're offering a 20% discount on products. I also got my eye lashes done and although I absolutely love the way they look I'm not certain that I'll get them refilled as I am noticing the extensions were attached to my lashes and I have lost many now. The people there were SO kind and professional, too. I got pink and white ombré acrylics with gems. The guy who did my nails did an exceptional job - my nails are GORGEOUS, I'm in love!!! Ended up waiting an hour for them to start my toes without anyone coming over and saying anything. I was more or less ignored. I declined service since the wait was so long and I had somewhere to be. My friend luckily had her toes started after almost waiting 30 min from our appointment time. They apologized and told me it was due to other employees not coming in for their shift. I wish they would have explained this when I either called that morning or when I walked in so me and my friend wouldn't have wasted an hour of our day. I had 2 poor experiences at this salon and therefore, I turned down the gift card they offered me. I have a nail salon I frequent that is a bit further away, but the service is good and keeps you informed if their is a wait. I plan to go their from now on.
