After a filling lunch, I came to the Promenade at Sunset Walk to walk it off. It was such a humid day that I needed something to cool me off. That's when I spotted River Street Sweets and decided to check it out. Upon entering, I noticed the well-organized shop featured a vast array of chocolate covered treats neatly displayed in a large case. I looked at the small selection of ice cream and gelato flavors and asked one of the employees for a single scoop of pineapple gelato. There was no seating inside. Since I didn't want to go out into the humidity, I just stood inside and enjoyed my sweet treat. The texture of the gelato was incredibly smooth and creamy, and I could taste the distinct pineapple flavor in every bite. It was thoroughly enjoyable and did an exceptional job of cooling me down. We were at Escapology and stopped in for some pralines. I'm a southern girl and haven't had good pralines since we moved to TX 8 yrs ago. Buc-ee's tries but doesn't come close. We are used to the ones from Savannah and St Mary's GA. So I have high expectations! Everyone was very friendly and there were so many treats to choose from. But I stuck with my plan and got my 1lb and 1/2 lb free. I have enough to share with our neighbors and put some away for a rainy day! We will stop in again soon to try other goodies from the cabinet. This whole place has such a fun old timey feel! The ice cream was really good. I tried the Cookie Monster flavor. The staff let us sample some of the flavors before choosing our flavor. They have a lot of different handmade candies, and a lot of prepackaged candies too. They had a section that looks like they sometimes make the candies while people watch, but they weren't currently making anything, so I'm not sure. read more

I forgot the flavor ice cream I had but i think it was praline. I loved the nutty flavor with caramel. I also got their toffee and a chocolate covered pineapple . Their toffee was so delicious but extremely sweet. I was disappointed with the pineapple because it was like a pineapple gummy candy , not a real pineapple slice so that was a let down. This place is amazing! There are so many options and we try to get something new each visit. It's hard not to get the delicious pralines. They are simply the best. The pralines are super sweet. It's good that they have chocolates that are not as sweet to balance out the experience. The service is always great. The only problem here is that it sometimes gets very popular with tourists, especially during events around Margaritaville. Pack your patience if you visit on a busy day. Then I have the hide the goodies so they last more than a week when we get home. The pralines are smooth and come in several varieties. We have been here a couple of times and each visit was great. The staff is quick to help and will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the products. They have ice cream, chocolates, fudge, covered apples, and packaged goods to take to-go. There is also a station where they make the candy in-house and it's fun to watch - our little one loves this part! The store is clean, well organized and nicely stocked. Good fudge is hard to find, so I got some. They didn't have a lot of flavors, so I got plain peanut butter and chocolate peanut butter. They were both very good and very soft! My husband doesn't like sweets (I know, what? lol), so I was the only one eating it. I think I bought it on Wednesday and I didn't finish it until Monday, and it stayed nice and soft the whole time! We ordered 3 double scoops of ice cream, but somehow got 4. We questioned and the lady shared 4 doubles were purchased. Flavors we ordered: praline, mint chocolate, banana pudding & chocolate. Hands down the banana pudding ice cream is down right delicious, you may even find a Nila wafer. The mint chocolate ice cream had a strong mint taste & had huge chunks of chocolate. Delicious, fresh pralines made in house. Ian offered us a sample of pralines, and they were quite good. My partner enjoys turtles, and the milk chocolate Loggerhead we got here was one which was highly praised between the caramel and the nuts included in the treat as well as the topping of high quality chocolate. I got a few pralines, and while not the best that I have EVER had (New Orleans is tough to beat with theirs, not going to lie....) they are definitely delicious and fresh.
