The cart quit working and had to call to get another cart. Other than that I enjoyed the 9 holes. Putting on the green the greens are great and have a fast roll. I've also been here before for breakfast, and each time the food is well served and delicious.

There are 4 of us which have been going to Copper Valley for 4 years and it has always been great…read more Good condos and great golf. However this year it was horrible. We left at 630 for a 2 hour drive so we could have breakfast at Copper Valley restaurant. They don't serve breakfast on Thursdays. We will take the blame for that as we assumed a golf resort would serve breakfast. Then we played at 11 really hot and windy behind a group that took 5 hours but the worst part was on a hole that was a dog leg I had a blind shot to the green. We waited all day until the group was way off the green to hit. I pulled my 8 iron left of the green and landed about 10 yards from the group in their cart. The member got out of his cart picked my ball up and threw it in the weeds. Never seen that before. We finished and had a beer and went to out 2 bedroom condo. We had 2. Our friends condo had no air conditioning and were miserable all night and decided not to play the 2nd day. So our twosome went over to get a quick breakfast before our tee time at 8. No luck breakfast not served until 8. All in all we decided that $500 would be better spent elsewhere. By the way we had dinner and it was average but expensive. My recommendation is pass on Copper Valley and go somewhere else.

The absolute best indoor golf experience in town!…read more I'm long overdue in leaving this review, but I wanted to make sure credit is given where credit is due! Last year, I hosted our fantasy football draft at Swing Center Indoor Golf, and Brian and his son Tristan were amazing hosts. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for a smooth, entertaining draft--they helped with simulator questions, served our beers, and easily accommodated our potluck setup. My entire group was thoroughly impressed by both the clean aesthetic and top-notch hospitality. We had such a great time that we're officially hosting our draft here again this year! The facility itself is incredible. The bays are clean and spacious, and the turf, hitting strips, and screens are extremely well-maintained. The software lets you play virtually any top PGA course in the world, and the ball and club tracking data is impressively accurate. Beyond events, I've come in several times for pro shop services. Niko and Tristan have re-gripped my clubs, and their precision is unbeatable--putting on Golf Pride Align grips correctly takes true craftsman-level detail, and they nailed it every time. On top of all that, I've been taking lessons from Al Owens, and he's been phenomenal. My game has taken huge leaps forward thanks to him. I love that he uses Sportsbox AI technology to analyze my swing flaws and records the lessons so I can review the footage at home. If you're looking for a premier indoor golf simulator setup, pro shop service, or top-tier instruction in Modesto, this is hands down the best place in town. Tell Brian I sent you!

I'm not sure if the food was catered in or if it was done in house but it was pretty damn good. The company promises to complete several upgrades to include re-asphalting the parking lot, complete clubhouse renovation, irrigation upgrades, practice range upgrades and new golf carts. This golf course was always pretty mediocre. At times, it was poorly maintained and dated. It is mostly made up of par 3 holes. It is a very easy course to walk for those interested in some exercise. Tee times are easy to book online. They also offer memberships. Really looking forward to seeing these upgrades and getting golfers excited about this place again.

Aside from the greens, the tee boxes and fairways were in great shape too. There's some dead spots, but honestly not to bad for a public course. The course itself isn't super challenging and if you miss left/right off the tee, your ball is still findable. All the par 5s are reachable in two shots, which makes the opportunity for eagle chances a lot higher. It was a course the perfect course for me coming off a couple of bad rounds to get my confidence back. Final score -2 for 18 holes is one of my personal best ever. Even on the weekend, there were some no-shows, so we got to play with just two of us. The pace of play is slow at times because from what I saw, there were a lot beginners on the course, but honestly, people were really nice about letting us play through so it didn't end up that bad on time. The weekend rate is now $65 with a cart per person, $45 if you are walking. They are going through a renovation of the restaurant but they still offer drinks and some food. The drinks are well priced compared to the Bay Area. I think 4 beers came out to $20ish, which is solid for a golf course. They have a beverage cart that goes out, and they come around often. Booking a tee time is pretty easy if you are a group of 2 or 4. If you are a solo golfer, you won't be able to book a tee time online. You'll have to do it the old fashioned way by calling the pro shop. I called the day of, and they were able to get me a tee time that day no problem. I'd check their website first to see what's available before calling.

Great course improvements, but severe "Big Brother" management ruins the experience…read moreThe Good (Stars for the Turf & Carts): Credit where credit is due--the new ownership has done a fantastic job resurrecting the actual golf course. It no longer resembles a safari, the fairways and greens are vastly improved, and they invested in a brand-new fleet of golf carts. The days of waiting 30+ minutes past your tee time for a cart are thankfully gone. I also feel incredibly bad for the marshals and pro-shop staff; they are professional but forced to take all the heat for the owners' ridiculous, militaristic policies. The Bad (Hospitality is Non-Existent): While the course looks great, playing here has become an absolute chore due to an extreme lack of basic hospitality. Management enforces a strict "no coolers or thermoses" policy. While restricting outside alcohol is standard, banning personal thermoses to keep water or dietary-restricted meals cold is dangerous--especially when the Central Valley heat clears 100+ degrees. To make matters worse, the course offers almost no hydration relief: Broken Fountains: 4 out of 5 water fountains on the front nine are broken, and the back nine isn't much better. No Refill Stations: There are no water jugs or coolers provided on the course to refill bottles. The Ice Ban: Management actively forbids staff from giving out ice for cups, and you cannot buy ice water. The Cooler Trap: If you buy a 6-pack at the bar, they give it to you in a plastic bag of ice that melts instantly. I watched a golfer bring an empty soft-shell cooler into the bar just to hold the beer and ice he bought from them, and management told him he couldn't use it. Meanwhile, I watched the owner walk around carrying his own personal cooler! The Ugly (The Clubhouse Vibe is Dead): The clubhouse used to be a lively local hangout. Now, it feels like a concentration camp. Hit-or-Miss Bar/Kitchen: The bar only served warm beer and had no spirits this past weekend. The beer cart is rarely seen, and when you do find it, it carries no food or snacks. The kitchen is totally unpredictable--never breakfast, only lunch, and only fried food. No Cash Allowed: They have banned cash entirely. This makes it impossible to discreetly spend pocket cash without it showing up on a bank statement. Killed the Culture: They banned rolling dice ("no gambling"), removed the pool table, and turned off the fun. The locals who used to hang out mid-round or after a game are completely gone, leaving the place empty. Basic Maintenance Neglect: While the grass is taken care of, the ball washers are chronically bone-dry. The rare ones that do have water smell heavily like sewage. It takes 10 minutes to fill these up. Final Verdict: Rancho Del Rey has so much potential now that the grass is green and the carts work, but the owners are cracking down on the most frustrating, petty things. If the kitchen was a functional restaurant with dinner, music, and a pool table, locals would flock here. Instead, everything is behind lock and key, "Big Brother" is watching, and the fun has been completely sucked out of the venue. Fix the hospitality, fix the water fountains, and let your paying customers stay hydrated! If you ACTUALLY supply beer and alcohol, we will BUY it!
