As of January 2025, Sierra Golf Management has taken over the golf course and the name has been changed to Ripon Golf Club. The company promises to complete several upgrades to include re-asphalting the parking lot, complete clubhouse renovation, irrigation upgrades, practice range upgrades and new golf carts. This golf course was always pretty mediocre. At times, it was poorly maintained and dated. It is mostly made up of par 3 holes. It is a very easy course to walk for those interested in some exercise. Tee times are easy to book online. They also offer memberships. Really looking forward to seeing these upgrades and getting golfers excited about this place again. read more

Sierra Golf Mgmt has been aware for at least 4 months that their online booking does NOT allow one to select 9 holes...it can only be done by calling in and paying upon arrival...they are very aware of this and I was told they would have that fixed...and to the point, it costs more when paying upon arrival....the fact that this has them making a few dollars more is the reason and because they are aware of this online booking problem, maybe remove 9 holes as an option...as it is blatant that money and profit is the driving force, read more

My buddy booked a golf round online and put two walking and one riding. When we showed up to the golf shop, the women behind the counter was already in a bad mood and started scolding my six year old daughter and myself because we changed our mind from walking to riding. Stating we should have informed her sooner. Mind you our tee time was 7:52am. All because the women behind the desk can't handle customers coming in and answering the phone. If you can't multitask you shouldn't be working the counter. Definitely a horrible experience all because we changed our mind and wanted a cart instead of walking. My brother and I have enjoyed playing at Jack Tone for a few years...now that it has been renamed, we will always call it Jack Tone... Some of the changes made don't seem very good...the starter...the person who greets you and takes your payment is nothing like the previous person Shauna...he really doesn't seem to be a "people person"...not a warm, welcoming person., like Shauna...He actually appears a little bit out of it, engrossed in something other than greeting players and getting us set up to play golf... read more

This is a great place. If you are a quiet tighty whitey golfer and can't handle large personalities, see you on Monday. The weekend brings characters out. Weekdays, more traditional with fast quiet play. Price is reasonable, course is in transformation to very good/excellent condition. HORRIBLE course management on weekends. Don't waste your time here for weekend golf. Kids are running the place, very slow play, blasting music, trashy demographic. Nobody regulates the back 9. Every time I come out here there's at least one 6 man group. They need to get a grip on this. I've walked this course in the week and finished in 1 hour and 45 min. Weekends takes 4 hours and it's a par 62. Ridiculous. (My response to the owners comments after I made review on Google maps..) Received a poor review after I gave an honest review. I'm the customer, simply shared my experience. I've played Jack Tone a lot of over the years. Always have had slow play times on the weekends but not like it's been recently. Especially this past weekend (5/13/23). I do not appreciate the salty response from the owner, who from my understanding, doesn't come in often and doesn't live in the area. I spoke with a young man named Josh this morning on the phone who informed me on the owner. The owners reply was incorrect as well. I made my comment on the 16th whole, had another 35 minutes of play after that response. So my total play time actually exceeded 4 hours. Any other course I wouldn't have thought twice about it. But this is par 62 Jack Tone, Cmon now. And I didn't pay $16, I paid $23 per player PLUS $16 for the cart. Which by the way other nicer Course usually charge $15. I get that Jack Tone is make improvements, and making an effort to fix pace of play. But having someone stand with a tablet on the first hole isn't going to cut it. The players bunch up at the 10th hole, everyone knows that. The back nine is where the regulating needs to happen. I spoke with another young man immediately after the round, looked very young. He rolled his eyes at me several times while I respectfully explained how there were several groups of 6 out there and how one of them kept blasting music and how the other group kept hitting into us. I know there's not much he could've done, but the attitude and tone was very disrespectful. I'm expecting a phone call from a "Shauna" soon. I'm not looking for a refund, I just want to be met with respect and to be heard. I would very much like to speak to the owner in person, big tough guy who "won't use my name". I don't need the sarcasm man. I like the course, but I'm thinking about maybe not coming back. And my friends and family who regularly golf with me won't be coming back either if this situation doesn't improve. read more

Executive 18 hole course. Lots of short holes 3 pars. Be careful you don't twist your ankle in a gopher hole if your walking. Or mess up your back driving on gopher holes in a golf cart. Did I mention the gopher holes. Also Fridays are very busy. I know most places are. Nice little putting green to practice. The driving range has dividers that put you pretty close to each other. Also once you get a cart you can't take it out to your automobile to load your heavy bag of clubs and golf paraphernalia. Carts are not allowed in the parking lot. We've played this course for about 8! Year now. It's great, relaxing and fun. They are always working on the grounds, the putting green is always clean and busy. We always get a cart, when better players are behind, we always let them go ahead. Everyone is always polite and kind golfers . The staff is very helpful and get you in and out. read more

Golfers should be careful especially at the 10 hole. I got an ankle injury last week. Unfortunately i stepped in onto a pothole, the overgrown grass made the ground seemingly flat. There's no signs or flags to warn anyone about it either. I want to warn the elders that may come here to watch your step. I was very disappointed with the management and maintenance. I couldn't work out anything with the manager, I got a huge sore and blister from the fall and the medical bill costed me 200 dollars. I asked for compensation and only was offered 15 dollars, I denied the money. read more

I have played most of the courses in the central valley and the foothills. Most are good some are great and then there are some that are exactly what you expect.. JTG is one of those. If you are looking for slow play and a short course this is the place. That doesn't make it a bad course..it is what you expect for a small public that costs $13 for twilight rates. The last 5 times we played here, we had to wait 10- 15 mins at each hole with 2 carts in front of us, during the work week. It's hard to play when you have to wait so long to get up to the tee box. Dont go here on the weekends. Waste of money. Last time we did we couldn't even finish the back nine! It took us 2.45 hours to play the first 9. We had to stop on the back nine on the 12th hole, because there was a foursome on the green, and two carts in front of them at each hole. We had to stop because it was getting dark. We started at one o'clock. They have too many young kids running this golf course who don't know how to stagger. They should have a Marshall on . I have played at Jack Tone a couple times, and they have been unprofessional every time. If you make reservations for a golf cart be prepared to not get one. My last two visits I was told they over booked. My last visit the manager said that if I walk he will run out a golf cart to me and my friends. Well, He never ran a cart to us, and we see 5 carts come out behind us, so we call and they promise to have one waiting for us after the 9th hole. When we come around we see another person take off in a golf cart and he tells us we have to wait for one. They just keep going back and forth, lied to us about running it out to us. We got upset and he said go to the 10th hole and he will run it out to us again. We then decided to not play the back 9. Asked for a refund and the made the refund process very hard said they are still charging us a certain rate, at that point we just decided they will not get our service anymore. Honestly there were four other groups complaining about golf carts. This place is very unorganized, and the manger will lie and tell you what you want to hear. I've played here multiple times and most of the time it's pleasant. We had one time recently where they had overbooked and we started very late from our tee-time and only played 9 holes because we wouldn't have time to complete 18-holes in the time we had planned. The woman working was very apologetic and actually gave us a refund. Fast forward to yesterday...My husband and I played 9-holes yesterday at 4:30 with a cart and were done by 5:40pm. We thought we'd try the same plan today. Arrived at the course at 4:30, told the guy behind the counter that we wanted to play 9-holes. He asked "walking" and we said no, we need a cart. He said carts have to be back by 5pm so a cart wasn't an option today. We questioned why since we just had a cart yesterday for the exact same time and had it back in just over an hour. He said something like "with the days getting shorter we need to have the carts back by 5pm today." What???? We said we just played 9-holes yesterday at the exact same time and were back by 5:40pm. Sunset isn't until 6:20pm today. So disappointing because my husband came home from work early and cannot walk long distances due to a knee injury. I'm curious if this is really a course policy or if this is because the young guy wanted to go home early and not be bothered with putting away our cart. I've played here 3 times. I was able to finish 18 with my dad and another person in under 3 hours. Easy fairways but difficult greens so be prepared. Always in good shape and will definitely come back. Wide open course with few obstacles and lots of par 3's. Par for the course is 62 to give you an idea of how short it is. read more

I play this course every week and just love it. It's a fun 18 hole course that can easily be walked, which I love. There are some holes on this course that no matter how many times I've played them, they beat me every time. One of the highlights of playing here is getting to know the amazing owners George and his lovely wife Sharon. They are such great people, they make you so comfortable and you know they are happy to see you. They are no longer owners, they are now friends. The entire staff, including the course dogs and cats are great. If you just want to have a great day of golf and meet some fine people, head for Jack Tone, you won't be sorry! read more

we Love Jack Tone Golf...yes its short, however its not flat and short like an executive course...there are 18 holes and just when you think you have an easy hole forget about it...we do not take a cart we walk, good exercise, and I dont know about you but its your short game that always needs improving and if you ever get this course down you'll be making money on the tour!!...the owners George and Sharon are wonderful, they go out of there way for you and that means alot...there are many courses we have not gone back to because of the attitude in the club house..when you are finished ask George and he will point out some nice places to eat just a few blocks away....oh and tell me how you did on 14 and the 9th.... read more

Played here for the third time last week and was again impressed. Very friendly owners. A shorter, executive 18 hole layout with quite a bit of variety. Nice fairways with very few bald spots, even in the summer heat. Greens are very well kept and putt true. A nice walk for a great price. I have played every shorter course within 50 miles and this is the best of the bunch. read more
