On our last morning in Venice, we were looking for somewhere to have breakfast and we found Riva Rialto. Of course it is located right on the canal so the best part is the atmosphere, but we were excited to see they were serving breakfast and had many good options. Our server was absolutely wonderful and showed us how to get the most out of our meal because some dishes came with a glass of champagne. We all had cappuccinos and eggs with pancetta and really enjoyed it. Its a great place to stop and have a bite. read more

I wish we had more time to relax and enjoy this wonderful restaurant. The location at first made me worry we were heading into a tourist trap. But that was not the case. The owner was very attentive and he helped us choose a better wine. We ordered several appetizers to share among the group and everyone raved about the quality. Had a decent meal here right in front of the Rialto bridge at night. It wasn't wonderful - but the service was excellent and staff are attentive and wonderful. We did not have a long wait for a table or for the food once ordered. I went with the capellini pomodoro but wasn't wowed by the flavors - even with a ton of added cheese, it tasted basic and plain to me. The side salad was fresh and my husband went with a shrimp pasta dish and felt the same. Randomly stumbled upon this place while exploring the Grande Canal. After 3 failed dinners using Yelp as a guide, we decided to just find a place with "a regular menu" and a view. Wife ordered calamari and I got the spaghetti with bolognese. Holy smokes! Easily the best meal we've had since being here. Nothing was special per se, it just tasted good which cannot be said for anything prior including a "Michelin" location. I was surprised to see this location only have 3.5 stars (after the fact), and thought I'd do some service for foreign travelers. I'd recommend it. In fact, wife wants to come again for dinner. If you want a fresh local fish, a view of Rialto Bridge, an open air restaurant, this is your place. This is a restaurant next to the river. It has great view to the bridge market. You can see water taxi stop here at the Grand Canal of Venice. Even tough the Venice is like a maze, but the restaurant is next to the bridge will not difficult to find. We got the local beam and Mediterranean Sea Bass for our lunch. They grilled both of the fish. I would suggest you ask for the whole fish. The Sea Bass meat is firm. But the local Beam is bigger. It has great sweet taste. I like the seat is overlooking the Rialto Bridge. The service is great. My waiter is very funny. I like it. The local beer are cheaper than water. I would suggest get a glass of it. read more

Location was simply spectacular - right at the base of the Real Alto Bridge. We had lasagna, pizza, gnocchi with Gorgonzola and pears, mussels, and fried Calamari. We spent around €91 euros. The gnocchi, mussels and pizza was a hit. The lasagna was a bit bland and the calamari was a bit chewy. Service was average... it was just nice to sit next to a Venetian landmark and enjoy the scenery. read more

Typical tourist trap but my wife is gf and they have gf pizza and pasta. She said the pizza tasted like cheap frozen pizza. Tomato sauce and cheese not fresh at all for a Margherita pizza. We came after reading a recent tip about the 3 course meal for €12.90+12% for service. There are about 4 or 5 offerings for the first dish, which include lasagne, spaghetti with tomato or bolognese sauce, spaghetti with cuttlefish, and a couple other things I can't recall. The second dish had the choice of grilled or oven-baked chicken, cotoletta (which is schnitzel), or grilled fish. The options for the side dish are french fries or salad. The serving sizes are generous compared to another three course meal menu we had elsewhere. We all ordered the spaghetti allá ragú (bolognese sauce) and it was very good! It had good flavor and was a decent portion. If you want bread, though, I assume you'll need to ask, as it was not offered to us. We also all got grilled chicken as the second dish. They accidentally brought out calamari for one of us first but quickly fixed their mistake. The chicken was very bland and it seems they didn't season it very much at all. They have bottles of olive oil and red wine oil (?) at the table, along with salt and pepper, so we just added a bit of flavor on our own. The fries were good and seemed fresh and the salad was also good. The portions were good. For desert, we had tiramisu and a cappuccino which were also good. I will say that the drinks are expensive. I will post a receipt with this review but just a soda costs €5.50! Even a .75l bottle of water costs €4.50. Other than that, the ~13 euro spent for each plate was worth it for sure. The staff are friendly and our waiter who seems to possibly be the owner was a funny guy who joked around with us. Definitely an okay place to go! read more

Wow, this was really bad. Our family of five got pasta, pizza, steak/fries, and fish. Every dish was terrible, either too salty, or not salted at all. The steak was several degrees worse than an Applebee's sirloin steak. The pasta was mid. Definitely a tourist trap, walk 5 minutes in any direction and you'll find a better restaurant. We were walking up and down the canal looking for a place to have dinner and drinks. While we were looking at the menu displayed outside of this place, Jaky (I later asked his name) approached us and made small talk and asked what we felt like eating. I said I was undecided and perhaps I'd be back after looking at some other places along the canal. He said this was fine, gave me a business card for the restaurant and told me that we would have the table right by the window should we return. Sure enough - we came back about 20 minutes later - and - as promised - Jaky seated us by the open window with the best view of the canal. Anyway - I have celiac and this place has a pretty good gluten free (senza glutine) menu (see attached pictures) featuring pizza and pastas (of course). The pizza crust was a bit harder than others I've tried in Italy (some of which tend to be really thin and sometimes soggy), but was definitely filling. I ordered a litre of the house white wine for 17€ and also an assorted cheese platter for €15. I wish I would have taken a picture of the food prior to consuming it like an animal. The customer service here is fantastic and Jaky went above and beyond to accommodate my gluten intolerance. He brought out some table bread for my wife and told me I couldn't have it - but offered to get me some gluten free garlic bread which I regret declining (already had too much food!). My wife got the regular (her bowels aren't cursed) spaghetti and bolognese and gives it a 9/10. It was favourful, fresh and the portion size was above average for Italy. Anyway - if you're looking for some pretty good gluten free food in the area (and regular food for you normies) with great customer service - I highly recommend this place. We stopped here for dinner on a whim after seeing in multiple times during our wanders through Venice. My husband was charmed by their dining area on the grand canal and with four stars on yelp (albeit few reviews) we thought we'd give it a try. The atmosphere itself was fine, but unfortunately we got stuck in the tables against the building rather than next to the canal. This meant that we had all manner of people traipsing by our table but equally afforded us some brilliant people watching. Since we came in without a reservation at peak dinner time, I can't really fault them for this. What I can fault them for was their food. It was mediocre at very best and the kind of overpriced Italian food designed to trap unknowing tourists like ourselves. I had the gnocchi which tasted a bit like reheated dinner and my husband got a lasagna that, while alright, looked like it had already been consumed previously. The waiter tried to up sell us on 90 euro wine (lol no) and was quite insistent (essentially told us all other bottles were crap) until I flat out told him it was too expensive and we didn't want it. Apparently that's more effective than saying No. Beyond that, this particular kept trying to rush the table next to us to pay and leave despite the fact that they had enjoyed a three course meal, a bottle of wine, coffee, and weren't even 1/4 of the way through their dessert. Finally the woman next to us flat out asked if he wanted them to leave, at which point he stopped badgering them to pay and apologized -- saying they could spend as long as they wanted. What I'm trying to say is 110 Euro for a mediocre at best meal, okay atmosphere, and rude staff is so not worth it. Consider dining somewhere else. read more

First the good - the location is great with a wonderful view of the Rialto Bridge. Now for the bad - the food is just ok although my daughter loved the pasta bolognese and it is definitely overpriced. Everything have the first time and here is my first review on Yelp. Waking back to the hotel after having dinner at another restaurant, we search for some restaurant that we can have few desserts and wine and we found this restaurant right in the foot of the bridge. The location is good but the view to the river was blocked by a construction wall (July 2015) The service was great. We was thinking about the huge selection ow wines that they have and our waiter offered us to try the opened bottle that they have. The moscato was great and we ordered the bottle. The selection is also great and they make it in house. We had tiramisu and apple cake. Both of them is perfect and make your night go smoothly. Highly recommend for anyone that looking for a peaceful dinner on the busy Venice. read more

If I could give this place a zero out of five for service I could. My fiancé and I stopped in to have dinner. We ordered one pizza to share. We received the nastiest looks from the server when we said we only wanted one pizza. We also received even worse looks when we said we didn't want anything to drink. And when they brought the pizza, another waiter looked at us the same way when we didn't want extra plates to use. The pizza was typical tourist food. To top it all off, when I went to pay, the server stated that there was a 15€ minimum to pay with a credit card. There is not a single sign anywhere in that restaurant that states there is a minimum. In order to prevent a scene, we just paid in cash to leave the place. From all of the places I have been in Italy, there has never been a minimum charge to use a credit card. We have never felt so taken advantage of when we were told about the minimum. If we did not have cash, we would have had to had the "minimum" charge of 15€ for a 10€ meal. I would not recommend this place whatsoever. read more

Zero star for the service. Me and my husband ordered noodle and some king prawns. And then we received a disrespectful look and silence the moment we told the waiter we didn't want any drinks. The food was ok but there was some weird smell in the air, maybe because of the river. At the end we had to pay 48.2 euro which includes 12% service charge, but as we are not satisfied with the service we decided to pay €49 and get €1 back from the €50, to show him at least a bit of dissatisfaction. But the waiter obviously didn't get it and showed a mean face. When he gave the 1euro back he said "take your wish" with a cold attitude. Actually I don't even think he deserves the 12%. Well as this is a tourist place and they might have the idea that the customers only go there once, so they don't have to serve everybody well as there are more new tourists out there. But the point is, if you want to earn more tips, work for it! read more

I didn't eat it and they still charged me for it. We will never come back to this restaurant.
