So off we go and the first thing I notice is this place has a fair number of gas pumps. Clearly, there was no turning away from the fact that this is going to be fried chicken from a gas station. We walk in and it's a typical mini mart. Candy, soft drinks, beer, chips, you know the classics. But then I looked to my left. Tucked away in the far reaches of this place , far away from the Dorritos, was a warm spirit of a woman standing behind a hot area of golden fried chicken. Was I dreaming? A muliple line gas station housing the sweet smell of fried wonderfulness? I was expecting us to go up to her and order so much chicken that she surely would not be able to handle. People don't walk in here and buy chicken for six. People are coming here and buying chicken for one to eat in their car on the side of the road. But to my amazement, my friend had ordered ahead of time and this warm angel picked up a large to-go bag with multitudes of drums and breasts, fried up in some secret gas station chicken recipe, and handed it to us. Was this actually happening? At home at dinner I was expecting to eat a small drum and thigh. I put extra apple sauce on the side for security. And then I tasted this gas station chicken. It was crispy and seasoned just right. I went back for more. Everyone did.

A busy little market that doubles as a Shell gas station…read more They don't brew fresh pots of coffee, instead using machines that pre-measure the amounts and offers you the option to leave room. I bet you've seen this somewhere. A highlight is the Sumatra Mandheling dark roast that comes out perfect every time. I've been known to stop just for the coffee and nothing else. But I'm strange and I have to pass this station a dozen times a week. On to the gas prices which are pretty competitive when you consider there is no immediate competition. My method is simply to note all the gas prices in my town as I drive to Charlevoix, compare those numbers with Bay Market and then neighboring Petoskey. On the way back home, I reward the lowest bidder by filling up. The rest is boiler plate stuff. Beer, wine, snacks, pop and sweets. A small difference is they carry grocery store items such as canned goods like soup and Beefaroni. Boxes of noodles and rice, etc. I've only encountered two fellows and neither was overly nice. Not mean, just matter of fact, you're a number, cash or charge, have a nice day. But I don't much care since I'm here for a cuppa Joe! At least the store is clean and one of the guys is very artistic. Different drawings and price menus are on the wall each week. It's a decent time, but I wouldn't scurry down here unless you needed something. 11/23

Initially my review reflected my view at the time, but the pharmacist [Melissa] called me and resolved the problem.
