He jumped about 6 inches and...well...yelped. Literally. (I laughed!) But, be careful. Apparently, this is how we roll in Northern Michigan. But besides that, this is a great little stop for beer, wine, booze and convenience store type items, complete with a few gals behind the counter that were helpful and cheerful. This is such a cool little spot. It's basically a small grocery store with a walk up deli and pizza…read morebar. They have tons of sandwiches or you can make your own. They give you a ticket and you pay up front with anything else you grabbed. The pizzas were freshly made and the kids loved their slices. There is also a little gift shop in the back corner as well as a full liquor/wine section. A massive ice cream cooler was the perfect dessert for after lunch as we walked to the playground nearby. The shop was very clean and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely stop in again.

Wow! The Walloon Village General Store & Deli blew up since our last visit…read more.. We recently spent some time on Lake Walloon and visited Barrel Back Restaurant and this General Store, as well as the park nextdoor. This place now offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, grocery items, Michigan brands, apparel, houseware stuff, and so much more. The staff is friendly and the store is huge and beautiful! Prices are reasonable too... On our recent visits, we purchased some beverages, sandwiches and Better Made chips too. (While in Michigan, amiright?!) If you find yourself in the area, don't miss a visit to this General Store -- even if you think you don't need anything, you'll find something to purchase, guaranteed!

It's the effect of being a rural small town. Employees are somewhere between bland, expressionless, vacant and just plain rude and discourteous. They do the job punching the buttons and collecting the payment, but that's where it ends. Understanding that, the store itself is massive. Several coffee options, frozen drinks, coolers full of many different brands and flavours. Shelves of most anything you could possibly need. But the biggest attraction: Chester's Chicken. Chester's is hot chicken prepared on site, offered in combination or ala carte'. When we lived downstate we ate Chester's for lunch 2-3 times a week. Imagine my surprise finding this one. Stopped in around 4:00 pm and seen that everything was old and dry they still had breakfast food in…read morethe warmer at 4:00pm!!!!!!! If made fresh there isn't much better than the chicken tenders so I looked in the warmer and there was 3- dry looking tenders but I noticed that they were dropping fresh something in the oil so I asked the young man working the register what it was hoping it was tenders and the grumpy old lady working the fryer said super rudely CHICKEN! Like I was just some stupid guy the man working the register then looks me in the eye and says she is the rudest person he ever met I mean this is his coworker!!!!!! So I said I could wait for the fresh chicken tenders he looks at me again says good luck I'm clocking out so I waited 6 min and then the lady grabbed the 3- old tenders chucking them in a box mean as hell I then said I just waited for fresh so she threw the tenders back in the warmer and said THOSE Were NOT OLD!!!!!! Just wow what a way to treat a costumer I will never stop at a blaring castle ever again
