I bet you've seen this somewhere. A highlight is the Sumatra Mandheling dark roast that comes out perfect every time. I've been known to stop just for the coffee and nothing else. But I'm strange and I have to pass this station a dozen times a week. On to the gas prices which are pretty competitive when you consider there is no immediate competition. My method is simply to note all the gas prices in my town as I drive to Charlevoix, compare those numbers with Bay Market and then neighboring Petoskey. On the way back home, I reward the lowest bidder by filling up. The rest is boiler plate stuff. Beer, wine, snacks, pop and sweets. A small difference is they carry grocery store items such as canned goods like soup and Beefaroni. Boxes of noodles and rice, etc. I've only encountered two fellows and neither was overly nice. Not mean, just matter of fact, you're a number, cash or charge, have a nice day. But I don't much care since I'm here for a cuppa Joe! At least the store is clean and one of the guys is very artistic. Different drawings and price menus are on the wall each week. We were honestly pleasantly surprised by the variety of things they had available, especially considering we were staying in a more remote area. They had a little bit of everything, and the quality was great! The bacon, steaks, and sweets were all so good, making this a perfect spot to stock up on goodies for our camping adventures. BUT the absolute star of the show might have been the Copper Harbor cinnamon rolls. HOLY COW. These cinnamon rolls do NOT skimp on the icing! They were sweet, gooey, and absolutely delicious. We grabbed them as a breakfast treat to share with everyone, and they were such a hit. If you stop by, do yourself a favor and pick some up because they are seriously worth it! I also have to give a little shoutout to the cashier, who was just the sweetest. She was incredibly helpful and had such an infectious smile that made the whole experience even better. It's always nice when you come across someone who makes you feel genuinely welcomed, especially at a small local market. Overall, Eastport Market exceeded our expectations! I went into the store to get ice and water for a 1/2 Gallon Water Jug. This really rude Jerk yelled at me "Don't even think of filling that Jug with Soda Pop" I don't drink Pop. I just drink water. I was trying to put ice in my Jug. I could here one solid junk of ice in the machine. I only got a few shavings in my jug. The person that I believed to be the owner of the store told me that I would have to pay for a bag of ice if I put ice in my 1/2 gallon Jug. I thought I saw the person that I perceived to be an owner go out a side door. I headed out the side door to show him that I only got a few shavings of ice and thus I would not be paying for a bag of ice. He yelled at me from within the store. He thought I was leaving and stealing a jug full of ice. The Jerk banned me from the Store and told me to never return. It would have cost me over $100.00 to fill my Fuel Tank. I left with 1/8 tank of fuel and made it to Mancelona. I had a wonderful meal at Mancelona BP and filled my Fuel Tank. I find Irony for being banned from a Store that I live 150 miles away from.

In early summer they started stocking micro "taco" greens from Lakeview Hills Farm. I was skeptical but now we buy them anytime we can. More recently we purchased Tender Belly bacon and used it in an arugula, bacon, and Parmesan pasta dish. Once again, we've discovered a staple for our freezer. Finally, they are now selling sandwiches and salads. The sandwich I had this week was very good. However, the salad was really fantastic--creative and delicious.
