The staff are very friendly and even though the store is small they have an exit on the other side after you pay to help the line move along. The area is great- its right by mackinaw crossings so we were able to shop and let our child play on the playground after enjoying some icecream. Plenty of parking in the lots nearby when we came (in summer on a weekend).

Secondly, they do not offer any smaller sizes of each flavor, only a giant slice of something you don't even know if you're going to like because .... they don't offer samples. And thirdly, the workers are beyond rude. I get the fact that you deal with hundreds upon hundreds of people a day but you need to realize that for each one of us, this is an experience we have been eagerly anticipating. So reluctantly,I purchased three giant slices because they had a buy 2 get a 3rd half off deal. The fourth disappointment came when I tasted it, it was so dry that I regretted buying them. I gave them 2 stars instead of one because I did enjoy watching them make the fudge, that was interesting.

This shop, Little Luxuries, is appropriately named. Lots of little luxuries around the store: cute…read moretoys and baby items, locally made lotions and oils, Mackinac t-shirts, fun stationery, Michigan wines and other things you probably don't need but you certainly want. One cool thing is that they have a shelf full of canned beer loosies that you can pick and choose to make your own six-pack. A lot of the beers are local to Michigan or the Midwest, which is neat. I love that this store focuses on local things, even with their beverages. There aren't too many stores on Main Street where you can get a bottle of wine or beers to go, but this is one place. When I visited, beer and wine was 25% off! Yay for discount alcohol. Little Luxuries would be a great place to stop in and find a souvenir to take home. They have so many Mackinac Island-related things in the store, so you're bound to find a nice little tchotchke or memento to bring home to remember your time on the island.

Calling all self-proclaimed nerds, a store that will reach in and pull out your inner geek is…read morehere. Found this store while browsing for souvenirs with the wife in Mackinaw City last week. I saw the sign and couldn't resist the urge to walk inside. There is a life size Dr. Who Tardis in the rear of the store, right by the cash registers. Are you kidding me? And you can walk inside of it, too? I'm there! You can't hog it, though, because there was a warning on it to not waste time standing in the Tardis because let's be honest, everyone deserves a moment alone in the Tardis. Don't be selfish, kids. You can't take merchandise in the Tardis, either, nor can you jump around much. Sorry, it didn't seem to have been made for that kind of activity. If it was Dr. Who, Star Wars, Star Trek, D & D, super hero, or any other Sci-Fi related merchandise, this store had it in spades. Whether it was limited edition or popular, toys for kids or adults that just act like a kid were here. It was collectible city in here. It was a small store that had more merchandise in it than most of the souvenir shops I came across. I was a kid in a candy store. More than anything, it was a place to find the latest and most sought after in Dr. Who and Star Wars collectibles I browsed through everything for awhile, finally bought a few things, but it took some time before the guy around to waiting on me, but me did acknowledge me and asked for my patience. He was helping other customers who wanted things that were up high on the shelves and not accessible without some assistance or a ladder. It was crowded and I see why. If you are a kid or just a kid at heart, it's a neat place to look around. Tourist area prices, but the store was really different, so it was mostly worth it. I think I'd like a second look at what they had. I wanted to buy more, but my wife was impatient, so I only grabbed two small gifts and left. It was a fun little store. It was nice to see something like this after looking at the same $18 t-shirt and $23 sweatshirt all day. I nearly forgot where I was for a hot minute. There is a $5 minimum for all credit card purchases, which seems silly and unnecessary because everything is over $5.
