Made a quick stop in to get some frozen pizza. Walked past the deli section and they had pizzas refrigerated pizza on sale for $4.49. Bought two ; cheese pizzas and a double pepperoni. The cheer is really good, but the pepperoni looks off. Like scary off, but only on one half. The guy who was going to eat that one took all the meat off, just to be safe. read more

I keep trying to bring business to Meijer, but every time I do they let me down. Today I wanted to buy some soda water I was informed that it's at the bottom of the pallet. Not if you could wait a moment we will break down the pallet and get your soda water so you don't have to drive 40 miles back here to get it. The staff here does not seem to understand customer service. They appear slovenly and lazy. If this is the woke Meijers please go back to sleep. I went to get fuel outside, what a mistake that was. I should've fueled up at the local Shell station not here. Shell was $.20 a gallon less. read more

I shop at Meijer Petoskey often. However, I am often frustrated in finding the location of a 'new' item. For example, dried strawberries are supposed to be in area X33, but there is no map on-line or in the store to inform me where to find area X. I should not have to find an employee to tell me where the item may be found. read more

On the families, annual ski trip to Petoskey Michigan we needed to get a few groceries. Fresh produce was very impressive. The assistance of a young man named Dexter as I was checking out and trying to figure out how to use the self check out machine proved to be a challenge for this senior citizen. When will Meijer wake up to it's biggest problem: plastic bags! Most groceries stores across the country reward their customers for bringing in their own bags with a small recognition on their bill. Meijer seems to love to give away bags, polluting our waters, trees and our wildlife, besides filling our landfills with 70% of the never recycled plastic bags. We can do better than this. read more

Ar+hur Griff0ne, c0rrupt store director in Petoskey (store 257) and his clique, abusing their "power", treating employees like second class citizens, not addressing any accumulating issues. They show up to work to do the very bare minimum, kiss each other glasses, flirt, and brag to us (the underpaid / overworked) about how much profit Meijer made, as if they owned the company (they do act as such). Meanwhile crying over the rate at which employees leave the establishment. If Meijer had any regards to it's own reputation it would've stepped in and put an end to the ridiculous situation at that store, as reputation affects growth and REVENUE. And one should protect it at any cost. I have always shopped Meijer, Michigan company, decent employer. Meijer recently stopped carrying Therabreath Dry Mouth Rinse. They carry other Therabreath products, but quit carrying the Dry Mouth Product which was the best seller as indicated by them often being out, and dust on the other products. I placed a call to Meijer Corp. Offices and was told the product was discontinued. This is not the case. I could understand if Meijer discontinued all products by this company, however, this is not the case. It may seem a minor issue to some people, but this product really works. I was super excited when I placed my pick up order and found many open time slots. I guess everyone else knew what I didn't - that they simply continue to reschedule your order over and over again until who knows if you will ever actually get it (I am still waiting). As a mom of a 3 month old who loaded their baby into the car three times so far this morning and has now been on hold for over one hour with still no answer, I can say I am not impressed. I'm just trying to keep my family safe -- if they do not have someone to do the shopping, don't offer the service / shut down the time slots that are not able to be fulfilled on time. Update: dropped my call after over one hour on hold. Called back and person at Meijer refused to transfer me to a manager, but forced the transfer back to the shop company who already told me that they didn't know what was happening and would need to contact the store directly. 3 hours delayed so far and over one hour on hold. Wish this wasn't a small town- we have little other choice about where to grocery shop. Guess they realize this and are okay with providing terrible service. Update 2: 5 delays in my order and still no shopper that is completing the service. 3 hours on hold with various people. No one would let me speak with a manager despite asking multiple times. Wish there were more mom and pop grocery stores I could support around here - would love to give them my business. One thing I have noticed this past year is whatever is on sale is also not in stock especially the Mejer brand. I used to love shopping here before the remodel but now things have changed and not for the better. I was there last night and when I was putting my water under the basket I cut my finger. I luv me my Meijer. The prices are always lower than other stores, though I wouldn't know about Walmart. I avoid that place for many reasons. Example: one item that was $6.99 at Glen's (the local small-chain grocery) was $4.59 at Meijer. Not an extensive comparison, I know, but I notice similar differences in prices on everything. Woo-hoo! Bing bing bing bing bing! I feel like I won the lottery sometimes. It is hard not to overbuy on the produce because it is so fresh and appealing. This Meijer is well organized and seems to have more space between the aisles than most. The produce & meat section is one one side of the store, and the pantry goods & cleaning supplies are on the other end. This Meijer has an interesting layout with the frozen foods and dairy separated from the rest of the food in the store. It took me a long time to find it and even longer to find the eggs once I got there. Other than that, this is a typical Meijer store offering everything from food, clothes, toys, toiletries, plants/flowers, beer/wine/spirits, lotto, Western Union, and more. I actually forgot a bag at the u-scan and they had a neat system where the products I left behind were logged into a system so they knew exactly when I had paid for when I came back to claim it. While I love Meijer, of all the Meijer stores I've been to, this one has the single dumbest store layout I've seen. I've seen Sears stores with better merchandising and store layouts, which is just embarrassing. The selection is limited compared to other Meijer stores, but after a couple visits here, I would rather just avoid this store and sooner go to the Walmart down the road. read more

I'm getting very frustrated with this particular meijer. I shop there at least once a week. EVERY SINGLE TIME I do my weekly shop at least one thing I purchase is expired or rotten. Mostly in the produce but I also purchased canned goods expired. It takes me forever to shop because I have to check most things and I STILL come home with expired stuff. I'm getting sick of throwing away food that I just brought home. If Walmart had a better selection I'd shop there. I gave it an extra star because the people there are super nice and pleasant. My wife came home with a ham from Meijer this afternoon. Well, to be more accurate, a "Ham and Water Product", which is exactly what it says on the label and is exactly what it is. It's labeled as 2.3% added solution. It seems like more since you can actually see what looks like water throughout the meat. It tastes like the salt water I'm boiling some peanuts in today, so I accept the name they have on the package as accurate. The funny thing is that they had 3 versions of this ham going for 79, 88, and 99 cents per pound and the one she bought is the 99 cent ham. I can't imagine what the others are like. I don't recomend it, but you probably figured that out already. Just in case there's any doubt, this stuff was awful so don't bother trying it. To those who think they like this "Ham and Water Product", you'd do much better with my boiled peanuts--at least they will have some flavor. read more

This was the WORST CAN RETURN EXPERIENCE EVER!! The bottle/can return area was absolutely gross and disgusting! It smelled as though someone had urinated on the floor and it looked like it had not been cleaned in days! This was SATURDAY JUNE 24 around NOON. The floor was SUPER STICKY, there was a big puddle on the floor which makes it VERY UNSAFE and UNSANITARY! There was dried beer and pop splashes on the walls. This was absolutely the WORST CAN RETURN we've ever seen. This Meijer seems very poorly run. We told one of the workers inside how dirty it was and they did not give a crap! I am so in love with Meijer it's ridiculous. Ever since moving from MI to MO i've noticed just how special Meijer actually is to me. It's basically WalMart but 100x better and (as far as i know) much more ethical. The quality of the meat is better, the staff is nicer, even things like clothing and purses put WalMarts stock to shame. In STL the closest we have to Meijer is WalMart and i refuse to shop there. Do not uspick up orders. They are consistently 2 to 4 hours late. It is extremely difficult to cancel the order. You cannot do it online and when you call the store you have to wait on hold for nearly 20 minutes. I read more

I sampled the local Meijer store a few weeks ago in Sycamore, Illinois. I live only a few miles away in Cortland and have resided there for the last 17 years. I am 71 years old a still work as a health care professional. I spent an hour filling my cart with $177 in groceries only to have my check declined at the checkout. I was told Telecheck declined my check and that I should call them. I first called my bank (about a mile away) and was told my available balance was over $3000. I then called Telecheck who initially said my check was approved but there was some sort of communication error with the store. I then called the store back who said no, it was declined and not cashed. I called Telecheck again and insisted to talk to a supervisor. This time I was told that since, at my last visit to Meijer one week prior, I had only spent $99. This time (Dec 2, 2022) I wrote a check for $177 which drew Telecheck's attention as suspicious and not within their "profile" of my spending pattern. But I was now told by Telecheck that my check was actually approved and that there was no derogatory information on my "profile". They said it was rejected at the point of sale since their "profile" of me as a Meijer shopper had not been fully developed. I earn 6 figures, have an excellent FICO score, and have never in my 71 years had this happen. The most I ever get is, maybe once a year, Wal Mart or Farm and Fleet will ask to see my driver's license. I do most of my business in the area I live in and mostly with personal check. So why is this complaint against Meijer? They consistently put the blame on Telecheck, with whom they contract. My guess is Meijer has opted for an extreme version of Telecheck's scrutiny or that the local store's security flagged me due to my age or because I was not a regular customer. I filed a complaint with Meijer's regional office and was assigned a case number, but have not heard anything back from them. Needless to say my shopping days at Meijer are over. read more

Meijer is so much roomier than Walmart as they don't tend to clutter the main aisles with pallets of Snuggies and Duck Dynasty throw pillows. Not that Meijer is fancy by any means but as a whole there seems to be a better class off people working and shopping there compared to Walmart. Seeing unkempt women in pajamas and 400+ pounders riding around on scooters isn't nearly as frequent. I've also yet to see any Meijer employees resembling what I'd imagine a sex offender or a product of incest would look like. Maybe they have them but if so they must keep them in the back and for that I'm grateful. read more

The store is unsafe in protecting customers relative to virus risks. Tonight other than the staff most of the customers didn't wear masks, which is a posted policy on the store entrance doors. The staff said they don't have to enforce the mask policy. I would think the store gets sued and loses if they expose people to virus risks they are too cheap or lazy to enforce. read more

I like the meijers store in Petoskey because it beats anything else and usually I can find what I am looking for. However, I agree with the other post that many times they are " out" of items. Also, today I asked the man unloading the meats if they had any Jenny o turkey burgers that did not expire today Jan 17 and he said no and unpacked many more that expired today. I said why are you putting all of this meat out that expires today and he said that "is how meijers does it-take it or leave it". Very rude. Unlike most of the people are very nice. Very very poor customer service. ALWAYS very long waits (20 minutes) at Deli. Two check out lanes open at 6pm on a Monday ( the self checkout lanes were open too). Waited another 25 minutes there for $80 worth of Groceries! This is very common for this Meijer. The workers are kind and courteous. Cannot say the same for Warren the manager I complained to. He was very rude and snappy when I voiced my concerns over the phone. Avoid. Go to Aldi across the street. read more
