This is a great, small town hobby shop, located a little off the main drag, so it's kind of hard to find. I was surprised to see a shop like this in Petoskey, but pleased. I found this shop just before they closed one night while walking around downtown on vacation. I thought what luck, I love coins and there's a coin shop that I didn't even know existed! It seemed like a sign of the divine variety and so I walked in, hoping to find what I'd been looking for in vein- an elusive piece of Canadian silver that no one ever has and yet every coin collector desires. Well, the owner was very nice, had a wide breadth of information regarding coins and knew exactly what it was that I was looking for. Unfortunately, he did not have it. Yeah, that was a letdown, but he gave me some valuable tips and we talked coins and stamps for a bit and we told me he would be on the lookout for the piece I wanted if it came across his store eventually, even though I'm from out of town. I took down his information and everything before he closed for the evening. He was a great guy to talk to, very personable and intelligent. His store was organized well. He had a great variety of things to look at, just not the specific coin that I wanted to fill out a coin book of all Canadian silver. He had a lot of nice, rare items and the prices were pretty good. If you're a real coin collector, you're in in for the thrill of the hunt and love of the hobby, not trying to get the best price or low ball an owner. It's not a money-making hobby, it's a time consuming and money-sucking hobby and I know that. I do it because it's enjoyable. While his shop primarily was concerned with antique coins and paper money, he also had some old stamps, vintage jewelry and other antiques, plus coin and stamp accessories for hobbyists.

Ceramics, melamine plates, playing cards, tumblers and canvas bags. We came away with a couple of cool 3D's for only $99 a piece, Great Lakes hats and a super impressive cork map of the holy land. For less. If your not familiar with Aldi, bring a quarter with you to lease a shopping cart. It sounds silly, but, we as a society are so cheap that we'll return the cart just to get the quarterback. This location NEVER has idle shopping carts roaming around the parking lot, ramming into your car. Pretty smart. The ambiance is just as great as the more popular chains. You need to bring your own bags/boxes or purchase them for a small pittance. We had rescued two cats back in February, and bought our first bag of cat food at this store. Since it is considered best not to change a pet's food, we continued buying it her. When I went in a week to buy another bag, I was told that they had not had time to unload a truck and distribute items throughout the store. When I mentioned my concerns about changing the cat food, Lisa took me into the back of the store to look through pallets stacked high. After several minutes of searching, Lisa found one of the bags I needed - at the bottom of a stack. She then moved numerous bags to get the one I needed. Lisa went well beyond what I might have expected, and I want to give her a very big thanks for her help. We will continue to buy our cat food - as well as many other items - from this Dollar General, largely due to the quality of the staff. Thank you!

During the snow storm I placed a pick up order at the Walmart in Petoskey. I just moved here the…read moreday before and had no groceries. I did not realize how bad it was outside and had already placed a pick up order otherwise I would have just gone in myself. I believe the pickup attendant that assisted that day was named Al. He did an awesome job handing all the pick up orders by himself (there were many cars in the pick up area). Al literally climbed through mounds of snow dragging the cart through and withstanding the crazy winds. Not once did he complain. He was very polite and kind given the circumstances and being short staffed. Al deserves a raise, additional PTO, and recognition. I wish I had cash for him at the time!
