The pharmacy is definitely the most dysfunctional pharmacy I've ever patronized. The lines often span half the store, they rarely answer the phone, and the drive through is randomly but rather consistently closed. This has persisted for more than a year and a half. Understaffing, mismanagement, crisis, alternate reality? It's unclear what could create such a longterm and catastrophic dysfunction. Orders are never available when promised, resulting in multiple in-person trips. You can't call ahead to check if an order is ready because they don't answer the phone. They don't update the online system timely either. Perhaps due to the location, many of the clientele appear to be experiencing challenges. Lots of severely ill individuals coughing, pacing, and hovering inches from nearby patrons, waiting anxiously for medications. There are spacing stickers on the floor. But they're not enforced or observed. Someone in line requested substance addiction-related medications and was told it will take two weeks to fill the prescription at this pharmacy, resulting in a scene with lots of foul language. TWO WEEKS for what is apparently a critical time sensitive medication. As for me, when I left, the line was 20+. Waited for over 25 minutes and walked out without my order because they claim they didn't receive the order, despite confirming with my doctor's office on the way to the pharmacy. Time to switch pharmacies! Trust me, no matter how convenient this pharmacy is as far as location, you will still come out behind due to multiple trips and long waits and people coughing on the back of your neck. I have some sympathy for the employees who staff this pharmacy and have to deal with a constant flow of disgruntled desperate clients. read more

Ya know what's weird? As long as I've lived in Boise I had never been to this store. There's a Rite Aid and a Walgreens within walking distance to my house. So I would just drive by this location on my way downtown and admire the amazing architecture. I'm a sucker for old buildings, basically anything that has some kind of nostalgia to it, I absolutely LOVE. I wish I would have gone in here tho before they remodeled it. I would have preferred it stay the original way because it's always fun to step into a time capsule. You still kind of do regardless because this building has been there for a min lol. You walk in and for me, was immediately surprised to see a store that had the "open concept" that everyone is so UNBELIEVABLY obsessed with when it comes to their homes. Honestly, the open concept is not creative, unoriginal, has HGTV written all over it and I wish people would just come up with their own ideas for their homes/businesses vs seeing some tacky trend they see on HGTV. That being said, I don't really tie all that in with this store. I mean, I'm sure the open concept trend definitely influenced their decision to do this store like that. This store is still great tho, don't get me wrong. I love it. It's one place that gets a pass for open concept lol. THANK GOD tho they didn't do everything in gray and white hahaha! If they did, I'd probably skip writing a review for this place. I haaaaaaate the gray and white trend. Stop it already!!! Hahahaha! This store is very spread out, very airy, you don't feel boxed in at all when walking the aisle's. They are wide enough to where a few people can be in them and you wouldn't get all claustrophobic. I have serious issues with claustrophobia. I pass out at concerts if there are too many people boxing me in lol. First time was 1995 at a Green Day concert. First time I felt claustrophobic and BAM! I was out! They thought I was on drugs and was about to kick me out lol. Anyway! Way off topic! I tend to do that tho. Nothing new. The layout is interesting. You walk in and all the makeup, basic necessities type stuff is right up front and the grocery stuff is in the back. I assume the makeup and stuff is up front because this store is located downtown area and theft is probably an issue. Prices are high here. Then again, they are pretty much everywhere. However, $2.29!!! TWO DOLLARS AND TWENTY. NINE. CENTS! for a thing of Tic Tacs!! HELL. NOOOOO! That is unbelievably INSANE! Some embarrassing truth here lol. Neutrogena had these exfoliating pad things. They're impossible to find. I checked their website, sold out, but the locator said this store had them. So I thought I'd surprise my roommate and get them. I was downtown for a fitness class and decided to FINALLY go in here. If I'm being honest too, these exfoliating pad things I wanted for myself, too because they're amazing lol. Locator said this store had them. I probably should have gone that day but waited until the day of the class, like a day or two. Of course, they weren't there. Tbh too, I didn't even see a tag for them. Made me sad. Now I'm just stuck mobbing around looking like an old alcoholic bag lady because I can't buff out my old ass face (Siiiiiigggghhh) hahahahaha! I don't look THAT bad tho haha! If anything, this store and it's history is what does it for me. I love it. I hope we always have it here in Boise. I think back in the day it was a Safeway? Anyone know for sure? Because we ain't got sh__t for Safeways in Boise now lol. Didn't really interact with employees. There were a few there but they have quite a few self-checkouts. Love or hate those things, they're convenient as hell. This stores are newer and super easy to use especially if people are buying food. That seems to be a complaint for most with self-checkouts. The Rite Aid pharmacy on State and 17 st downtown Boise has the most incompetent staff! They are rude and never have your prescription ready even if you use their automated phone system that tells you your prescription will be ready by a certain time. When you go to pick your prescription up their is only 1 person behind the counter who is always rude and takes out their frustrations on customers! Never ever have your prescriptions "filled" here. This pharmacy keeps messing up my prescriptions. I'm on automatic renewal but they did not notify me when they did not have my medication in stock. I went to the pharmacy to fill my prescription, Rian told me that they would order it and it should be here the next day. The next day I went to pick up the prescription, and yet again it was not in stock. I asked to speak with the manager, and she told me that their manager is not in and "well our system stucks and there is nothing we can do about that". The pharmacy does have a lower dosage of my medication that I could take to give me the same dosage with doubling up but they would not approve the "change". With the weekend coming up, I'm going to miss a dose of my medication again due to their incompetence. read more

Dhara in the pharmacy needs a prescription for people skills. My prescription was called in at 11am. At 4pm I was told it would be ready at 7:30pm but at 7:50 I was told to "come back tomorrow". (They close at 8). I told Dhara that I was leaving town early, so she told me to wait. At 8:02 she started checking me out but saw I had the Rx discount card and said if I wanted to use it I would have to "come back tomorrow" (!) A problem with the register? When I asked why, she said it wasn't her fault, they close at 8 and started telling me how many prescriptions they fill in day(?!?) When I asked to talk to her manager, he came over and touched something on the screen, fixed the problem and she finished checking me out. She apparently just likes to tell people to "come back tomorrow". Maybe she isn't working tomorrow. She clearly wasn't working today. read more

Ever since the remodel, this pharmacy and store have really gone downhill. The quality of pharmacy customer service and gaps in the merchandise shelves is apparent. Wooden pallets, merchandise bins, and plastic packing trash line the pharmacy wall. Many of my neighbors told me about it, but I got to see the show for myself when trying to get a prescription filled this week. When I went to pick it up, they said, "We don't have it." After a long pause, they said they could order it and it "might" be in by the end of the week. Getting it transferred to another pharmacy that did have it in stock has only delayed getting it filled as the new pharmacy can't get them to respond to the faxed request or answer any calls. When I physically went in to talk to someone, the pharmacy was on a break and the windows were closed. Came back later to a shockingly long line. Dr's offices, patients, and other pharmacies are aware of the low quality coming from this location. Disappointing as I have been a customer here for decades. read more

However, while I was waiting in line, 3 people walked in, saw the line, rolled their eyes, and walked out. The only reason I didn't walk out is that I needed my meds. Now I realize why I don't get RXs at RiteAid. Chose this pharmacy because my insurance prefers this chain for some unlucky reason. Stopped by to give them my insurance info after recent doctor switch. They said "it will be ready after lunch." Returned after 7PM only to be told .. it's going to be 10 more minutes, followed by an annoying smirk. To be fair, they didn't specify "after whose lunch." I do not have time to wait so will have to return again. May leave another one star if not ready tomorrow. So far, not good. read more

Nobody ever answers the phone..ever. It's soooo frustrating. I can't go in every time I need to talk to them about a medication or call In a refill, since the app won't allow certain meds to be filled unless you call it in...unfortunately I have to call every month. I even leave voicemails, but nobody EVER calls me back. I have to physically go in, or call the clerk in the store part to relay a message or ask to call me and even then, nobody contacts me. This is my third month as a customer and I'm running out of patience really quick. I get that some companies are understaffed, but at least try to pick up OR call back. I just don't understand how a business like this stays open. read more

Pharmacy randomly closes, prescriptions take a week to fill, drive thru has been closed for a year. I gave them many many chances because they are close by and convenient- but this last time ,12/23 they had hand written signs they were closing at 5 and then staying closed through the weekend. I returned to pick up my prescription at 4:30 but they had evidently decided to just shut down mid afternoon. They were closed. I won't set foot in the store again. It's ridiculous. read more

The service at this Rite Aid is absolutely horrible and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I have to drive there to put a request in for a refill, and then I have to go back to ask if it's ready? Tomorrow it will be 1 week since this fiasco started. On December 23rd, I called Rite Aid located at 1515 W. State street here in Boise. Upon speaking with a pharmacist, I was told that the medicine my daughter requires twice daily was low but in stock and I could pick her prescription up on Sunday after 3 pm. My daughter and I drove to their location at 4:15 on Sunday only to be told the "shipment" never arrived. I was told that I could pickup her prescription the very next day, Monday. Monday arrives however, instead of driving to their location I called only to hear the prescription hadn't been filled yet again. I attempted 4 more phone calls and each time the message stated they "could not take any further messages at this time." Frustrated, we drove over the very next day Tuesday, once again we waited patiently in line at the drive up window. Once we were at the window, I gave "Dillon" my daughters information allowing him to locate her account. A half minute passes by before Dillion explains my daughters prescription isn't ready yet because Rite Aid is 1,400 "prescriptions behind" and short on technicians. I asked if other technicians and pharmacists were aware of staff shortages and I was told yes they were. I asked why this information wasn't shared until now. Dillon had no answer. Today (12/29/21), I have called Rite Aid 4 times and each time I was told the prescription would be ready shortly. My last call was placed at 3:55 this afternoon. Once again Dillon answered and told me the prescrition would be ready no later than 5pm. My son Jeff was in N. Boise until 7 this evening. I asked hime to stop by to pickup the meds. Guess what? They're STILL not ready. My son called from the Rite Aid parking lot telling me the meds aren't available. I called Rite Aid 3 more times and was greeted with their VM each time stating "voicemails cannot be left at this time." Instead, I called the main number and asked to be transferred which was handle just fine. Yet again Dillon answered and again the excuses started flowing. Dillon: "Sorry but we are 3,500 prescritions behind, your insurance refused to pay for the meds, we're 4 technicians short tonight" etc. etc. etc. We are done. The medication my daughter requires is called Briviact and according Dr. &@%#*# (neurologist) is absolutely necessary. Today is the 5th day she's been without Briviact. read more

I have been using this rite-aid for at least 5 years, but will be moving somewhere (anywhere) else. I needed to check with the pharmacy about an ongoing prescription, and sent nearly an hour on hold, hitting that evil "3" button 24 times without ever reaching a human. I finally called the 800 Customer service number and reached a human after about 15 minutes This person was somehow able to cut through the phone queue and transferred me to the pharmacy, where I was told they were too busy filling prescriptions to answer the phone, and they couldn't fill my order anyway because there was no pharmacist available. He suggested I take my business elsewhere, beause they were too short-staffed to deal with my problem. This foolishness is a fairly recent development: I had been, for years, highly satisfied with service here, but this fiasco pushed me over the brink. I will not be back. read more

They charged an elderly woman 10cents per bag. (The bags are not reusable). I was shopping and didn't realize the commotion until I saw customers yelling at the cashiers about how they were okay with allowing an elderly person with a walker to walk out carrying her groceries because she didn't want to spend the 10 cents. This store is an embarrassment, the entire company should be sued. In California, it's a law for the merchants to charge 10 cents but the bag is durable and reusable, the ones here are flimsy and cheap. This is not California. This is Idaho that does not have a law and here they are mistreating our elderly people. read more

Rosa was very patient as I looked for a coupon on the GoodRX app on my phone _after_ the meds were rung up. And I didn't realize that the prescription was for a huge number of pills, and so very expensive. She showed me how to change the number of pills in the app, and we got a very nice deal, nearly half of what I would have paid without the coupon. Then they changed the number of pills to a manageable month's supply. That way I could afford the printer ink I wanted to buy at Office Depot in BoDo! They were ready for me in 5 minutes. So remember... have those coupons ready when you get to the window! It means so much to people when someone like Rosa takes the time to help a person out. I have used Rite Aid for many years, and was always pleased with my experience, but today was just special! read more

This pharmacies lack of ability is a health hazard to their patients. I moved out of state and I have been trying to transfer my prescriptions for a week now but I have been unable to talk to anyone in the pharmacy. Over 4 days, I have called over 20 times and I always receive "I'm sorry but this mailbox is full." Never would I have thought that I would run out of a Rx due to a pharmacy not answering their calls. 4 stars? A fan of a drugstore? Why, Ophelia, why?? Three words: Drive. Thru. Pharmacy. I hate running errands. Hate it! The grocery store...the dry cleaners...the pharmacy...Bah! If it weren't for the fact that I treat myself to a beautiful cuppa fantastic-ness while I do the B-town hop around--I, honestly, don't know how I'd endure it (hyperbole? Maybe. A little. But, ONLY a little.). So, a business that makes this annoying necessity that much quicker and convenient? Yeah...I'm definitely going to be a fan of that. Other things of note: They are lightning quick and friendly to boot. They are also currently undergoing a remodel (which is good as their previous interior--the times when I've needed more than the drive-thru--is ancient and rather blah) but are completely open and operational during the remodel. read more

I have been going to this Riteaid for a very very long time and have always gotten great service here and found exactly what I needed. The staff is very personable and friendly. My one complaint is that the wait at the pharmacy can take a bit linger some days because they get short staffed there. But even with other pharmacies closer to me, I choose this one for its great staff, environment, and inventory. read more

I made an appointment (RiteAid online) to have my daughter COVID boostered at the Rite Aid 1515 State Street location (Boise). I took off from work and my daughter skipped after-school activities to make it to the 4 PM appointment. After waiting patiently for 45 minutes the pharmacist notified us that we were not eligible for a COVID booster (as my daughter was 14 ). I tried to tell the pharmacist his information was not correct, but he refused to serve us. Upon returning home the pharmacist called me back admitting that his information was wrong.... Indeed a 14-year-old can get a COVID booster at RiteAid. Although I appreciate the call back, I can't excuse the ineptitude and exceptional wait for the appointment. Having the pharmacist recommend I call 1-800-Rite-Aid to complain was the final insult. read more

The pharmacy is THE WORST. There were long waits there way before the pandemic. My doctor has sent over the same prescription twice, yet the pharmacy has no record of it. (My doctor has sent them other prescriptions for me, so I'm in their system.) The turnover rate in the pharmacy seems high. I have let their ineptitude go for too long. I don't know why there are so many bad reviews, I have had nothing but great service, friendliness, then by far the fastest pharmacy in town. I also want to mention Shannon by name, as she is always going out of her way to make things go smoothly, while at the same time having a great and cheerful attitude. Very rude staff, called was told prescription for sick kid would be ready in 20 minutes. When at drive through girl brown hair short bangs very rude told me that we did not order anything. Told her I talked to someone. She went back said she found it but I didn't clarify that I would be coming now, so would be another 20 min. I was told it would be done and she was very short looking at the cars behind me when I told her I called in. Walked in with a RX from the ER after breaking my hand including several fingers. I refused pain medicine so I could drive myself home (besides my S Class has semi autonomous driving features). As I mentioned below I always fill at Walgreens downtown but being in extreme pain, I couldn't wait for them to open at 9. This was 5am. The pharmacist looked at the paper script for pain medicine and said "I'll be right back". He returned to the counter and said. "You use Walgreens right?" Yes! I answered in a cast!!! He tells me the government is cracking down on pain medicine and that he doesn't want to risk his license for a drug seeker. "I refuse to fill this". Mind you I'm standing in front of him with a cast coming straight from the ER. I never have had pain medicine except when I got my wisdom teeth out 10 years ago. I'll be reporting him to the district manager. What a low life piece of trash. I said I'd never come here again and I should've stuck with my gut instinct. I'll drive to meridian for after hour fills. This place is dispicable and terrible. This is the worst Pharmacy in the city. I normally use Walgreens on Broadway and Myrtle and my Rx's are normally filled within 15 minutes max...even when there is a line at the drive thru or walk in. I came here because it was the closest pharmacy open 24 hours and needed to fill my Rx before catching a red eye flight. Arrived and was rudely acknowledged by a girl wearing a football jersey and was told it would be 30 minutes. I have been sitting in the drive thru for 40 minutes now and after pressing the call button, was ignored for another 5 minutes. The girl in the football jersey finally comes to the window and says "yeah, we're working on it" and walked away. 10 more minutes go by and I am now 50 minutes AT THE WINDOW. Absolutely disgusting level of customer service. I was the only customer as this was late at night. I see the staff laughing and wandering around. I will never EVER use this place again. Next time I won't procrastinate on filling my scripts at my lovely Walgreens. read more

Terrible service.... dropped off a prescription for my 3 year old daughter and they said it would be 30-40 minutes. When I came back an hour later they said they didn't fill it because we didn't have insurance, no one even asked if I had insurance initially nor did they get my number to call and let me know about the issue. I told them I still needed the medication even though I don't have insurance, obviously... Then they told me I'd have to wait again while they fill it! Not what I want to spend my time doing the day before Thanksgiving. Horrible communication. read more
