Albatross Custom Carpentry - Tiled basement shower

There were many flaws in the build that they were able to fix for us and they did a great job with the tile work! Everything turned out great. We also had him fix a few things around our egress window that I would have never thought to do prior to Nick bringing it up. The price was very reasonable for the amount of work the guys did and also came to finish the job on Christmas Eve! Nick seems to be a perfectionist and found multiple other things that could be done in our basement which helped in knowing the job would be done correctly. They were both very professional and I would highly recommend them in the future.

First of all, I was hesitant to use him, because of the amount of times he stressed, what a "professional" he is and how he's honest and does really good work. In fact, he stressed this too much, which made me wonder. Once I got a quote, he showed up unannounced, to show me a sample, which wasn't a sample, but the actual plywood he was going to use. I couldn't talk to him, because I was on a conf call so he left the samples. These so called samples were beige in color and my trim is all white. I asked him why he didn't pick out white, he said, "in order to match what, I already have, he needed this wood, because it's all Home Depot carries. I found this hard to believe! this isn't my first rodeo, because I've had so much work done on a couple houses. I told him, I wanted white and he we defensive, staying he's the "professional" and no offense, but he does this for a living! I asked him point blank, is this extra trim you had laying around? he said, "no, I just bought it at Home Depot.". Needless, to say, I went straight to Menards and Home Depot and both stores had white vinyl wood. In fact, Home Depot stated, they only carry white and any other color is special order. Nick, wanted to pawn off some extra materials he had laying around and wanted to paint my plastic trim, which would have chipped and defeated the purpose of using vinyl trim. He's unethical and I would not trust him! This contractors need to be help accountable for their poor business practices! I hope I help someone who tries to hire him!

Overcharged: $400 for 90 min weeding. Just stopped before finishing…read more 2 years ago I hired Hailey and Mike to help me with yard work. I am a retired teacher and a senior citizen, so I look carefully for whom I get for my jobs. They were hard workers in the first year as they were full of ambition. Mike did the harder digging and moving kinds of work, while Hailey was excellent at weeding and maintaining my flower beds. I had perennials, and they did a good job working around them. Last year I had them get a load of mulch, and they spread that and dug up weeds and other growths. I have a stump that sends off suckers, and I'm obsessed with getting those dug up. I've paid them between $300-$600 for the work they've done. This year, however, there has been a decline. I had been come to weed my yard at the end of May and hard rake the main part of my front lawn. We tentatively set the weeding at $300 and then he said $100 for the raking. Mike did the raking and a good job. However, since I was able to see the job being done, I could see he was hot and kept stopping. Finally he said that $400 wasn't enough for all that work. Meanwhile Hailey weeded the entranceway, which has lots of perennials and not many actual weeds. She had a little pile of debris. Next thing I know there seemed to be a question about what exactly I had asked them to do, so I got my text back and showed him. Oh I guess I didn't remember that he said. She ended up with about 1/4 of a garbage bag of debris and then said they were done. 90 minutes total for $400, yet he wanted to charge more. Since I am on a walker and trusted them from previous jobs, I assumed they did what I had requested in the past. What happened was they just stopped. None of those stump suckers were dug up, weeds were ignored, the little front bushes weren't trimmed, and they had done $200 worth of work. Granted I Should have gone out and double checked, but I assumed they weeded and did what had been done the other 3 times. When I texted and complained, he more or less said that they had done a good job, yet the proof was right there. DO NOT HIRE THESE TWO. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE MONEY AND LEAVING AS SOON AS THEY CAN. $400 cash for 90 minutes work. I hope they feel good about cheating a senior on a walker who trusted them to do the same level of work they had done in previous jobs.

We needed to find a reputable contractor that would be willing to go through the process. FHA has requirements for all contractors, which is also a bit tedious. We were a little nervous because of horror stories we've heard about contractors, and wanted to make sure we chose wisely. Our mortgage broker recommended a couple of contractors. That's how we found Post Construction (father & son business). Dennis & Kyle were new to the FHA process, but were happy to help and filled the requirements. We got bids from Post and another company, and they were on the ball. They were also more flexible with what had to be done. FHA required several major repairs on our new home: Leaking basement walls which required installing an interior draining system & sump pump. Fixing the gradient outside to prevent rain water from draining toward the house. New windows & removing lead paint. Removing the cement porch, replaced with wooden deck. Replace leaking water heater Replacing plumbing fixtures Bringing electrical upstairs to code Kyle was our main contact through the entire process. He was very easy to contact, and we were always kept informed on what was going on. He helped us with a few things that were not on the list of required repairs. During the repairs, Kyle and his crew kept the house/job site clean. Kyle made several suggestions that saved us money and utilized the most out of our repair money. The work was completed in a timely manner, and any minor delays were communicated immediately (weather related). When it came to the final dispersement, the bank took it's time. This is a big chunk of change. Kyle provided all of the necessary paperwork from his end. He was extremely patient during the 3 months it took to receive the check. Post Construction did a wonderful job. We're both so glad we made a great decision to use their services. If we ever need help in the future, we won't hesitate to contact them!
