Look, I've slaved over homemade tamales with my family--picture us in the kitchen like a chaotic assembly line of corn husks and masa mishaps, laughing through the sweat. But hey, isn't that literally the restaurant's gig? To crank out tamales whether it's a dainty dozen or a full-on fiesta invasion? I politely inquire why my order is apparently triggering World War Tamale, and she snaps back, "Do you want them or NOT?" like I'm auditioning for a reality show called "Survivor: Takeout Edition." I've haunted this joint more times than a ghost in a piñata factory, and I could pick that female voice out of a lineu...blindfolded. Clearly, business is booming so hard they can audition customers now--must be nice!
