I normally do not leave negative reviews, but this experience at Rise + Roast Donuts was honestly concerning. My son went in to buy a few donuts and selected "no tip" on the payment tablet. After he made his selection, the tablet was taken from him and a $2 tip was added anyway. This was not a default setting or confusion -- the tip was added after he declined it. When we called the store to ask about it, the charge was initially denied and later dismissed with "we can refund the $2," which completely missed the point. The issue was never about the amount. It was about adding a charge after a customer already made their choice. Trying to get help afterward became another frustrating experience. We had difficulty speaking with a manager or even getting proper contact information. After repeatedly asking, we were finally given an email address. Later, the owner publicly responded online saying he took the issue "extremely seriously" and asked me to contact him directly. I did exactly that and never received a response. To make matters worse, we were told the charge would be refunded, and even the $2 refund never happened. At this point, what stands out most is not the money -- it's the lack of accountability, honesty, and follow-through from both staff and management. I always try to support local businesses, but customers should never have charges added after declining them, and concerns like this should not be brushed aside or ignored. I recently discovered rise and roast as we moved to Rio rancho. The coffee is pretty good and the açaí bowl is not bad for being in a coffee shop. This isn't going to be a regular visit for me but if I'm in the neighborhood and In a hurry it's not a bad quick stop to get coffee and a bite. read more

I have wanted to try this place for awhile!! I am not a "DD" fan and the "KC" are just too sweet, and I miss a good "California style" donut. Thick and fluffy and solid on the coating and filling. I don't go for donuts often but stopped by because I was in the area for work and remembered that it was one of the places I had bookmarked ans always wanted to check out when I had time. Well one morning..it was the time as I had a back to back appointment and didn't have enough in between time to go anywhere else out of that area. I ended up stopping at Rise + Roast and got their blueberry lavender cake donut (per recommendation of their staff when I asked what their favorite flavor was), a banana chocolate yeast donut (I just wanted to try something different..and prefer yeast over cake donuts) and a medium iced mocha. The service was fast and many people actually did a drive thru. However, if you prefer, you can do some outdoor/patio seatings there as well. I thought the donuts were ok. If anything, they were too sweet for my taste. While I did finish the blueberry lavender donut..I found it a little heavy of a donut for me. The banana chocolate yeast donut was also way too sweet, especially with the icing. The actual yeast donut though was good..and I probably preferred that plain yeast donut over any other flavors. Overall, an ok place for some breakfast, drinks or snacks. Maybe I'm not in tune with how much things cost these days..but the donuts were $2++..so with taxes and tips .they were $3! (Well if you buy in bulk..it is a bit cheaper I think). The mocha was good..but it's not anything that is any more special than the iced mocha I can get elsewhere either. Overall, great place to try...but maybe I'm not a sweet tooth donut person..so I don't see myself stopping by again anytime soon..unless I'm with a donut fan. read more

So the coffee is definitely great! The flavor options they offer and the coffee itself are nice and smooth as well. But the reason for my 3 star review is I went to R&R everyday over the last 3 days and ordered pretty much the same thing every time (like I always do). The first time the order was just a coffee & a doughnut and I was surprised how great the price was (compared to Starbucks), so the next day I wanted to take my dad and got 2 of the same drinks and it seemed to have doubled in price I left basically paying $18 for 2 small cold brews. I also want to add this part was our fault for doing it last min, but my dad said at the window 5secs after ordering "I can't have caramel." So I told the guy at the window about it, assuming they hadn't started to make it yet and he told the "barista" about not putting caramel in one of the drinks and she threw whatever equipment she was holding down on the counter, made a loud groan, and stormed off to the back. Like you know we can see you throw a fit right?! I told the guy to apologize to her for us btw. Anyway, after that I wanted to go to another location (Coors location) and again ordered the same thing and I noticed it was also a different (lower) price again so idk what they got going on over there. read more

Heard a few good things about this place so we decided to give it a try. We got 2 dozen donuts so we can try them all. The service was nice, she did say we got two free donuts for the 2 dozen donuts we ordered, maybe I heard her wrong because there was not any extra donuts. It's been hard finding a donut shop here so this place was good but definitely not worth $50! That's crrraaazzzy to me! I probably won't be back because fifty dollars for two dozen donuts! I wanted to try the place out. There is no indoor seating here, but there are tables outside and covered so that is nice. I do feel sorry for the workers, the customer ordering in front of me was an ASS. Complained that they did not have the donuts he wanted, it is noon, I am sure if he came earlier they would have. Then he complained about the fee for cooks. I get it, but honestly, if you don't like it go someplace else. The young man behind the counter held his cool. Did not reply back to the rude customer. Great selection of donuts, even better selection of beverages! I got a Chocolate Banana Donut and an Iced Matcha Tea Latte. The Donut was incredible. The Chocolate filling was between a pudding texture and a cream, but it wasn't overly sweet. The Matcha Tea Latte was refreshing with it's earthy notes and hint of sweetness. Got there decided to go through the drive thru as the parking lot is small. The entrance is hard to get into. There was a young woman outside who took our order 3 glazed doughnuts and a hot tea. Within seconds another young woman came out the side door and gave us our order. Here we are in drive thru and never make it to the drive thru window. We drove through the drive thru, it is so close to the exit at Nusenda we were glad it was a slow morning at Nusenda. Neither entrance or exit is comfortably safe. Much to our surprise the doughnuts were not round, a four clover shape. The glaze is good, not too sweet. The dough was puffy,has a decent taste. My tea was fine. The experience was very weird from entering and exiting in small areas, to giving my order to a person standing outside to the order being given to us out a side door. read more

Last minute we decided we needed coffee and we were going to go to the coffee shop next to this location, but quickly saw the opportunity to try out Rise + Roast instead! We're so glad that we did because unlike the other shop (dutch bros) Rise + Roast has donuts and lots of other tasty treats. The coffee was so good and since we went when it wasn't a typical coffee rush time, our wait was fairly minimal. The service was great too! The girl working the drive thru was super sweet and patient while we decided what we wanted to order since it was our first time. The first donut I had was a strawberry donut that tasted like a strawberry cake and then I had like a coconut mochi donut which I highly recommend it was very soft. I really liked the donuts and the coffee. I had overheard when I was getting a pedicure that they had great donuts. My husband and I would agree. I love the dog pictures on the wall, they're so fun and cute. My only complaint is that the staff wasn't very friendly. They weren't rude or anything. I just ordered an espresso shot to taste it and decide whether to order one or two more to help me get to Gallup Coffee Company 142 miles away and on to Flagstaff, Surprise and Yuma for an assignment and then two days later on to the Tijuana Airport and Mazatlan.
