We've been taking two children in two age groups to Scottsdale Early Learning Center for over a year. Like most preschools, your experience is only going to be as good as your teachers. Fortunately, SELC has some really nice teachers. The management? Seems fine, but the turnover issues mentioned in other reviews do seem to be ongoing. Clearly this is not a good thing, as any business benefits from continuity, but having motivated teachers like SELC is more important in any case. They provided some awesome school photographs, the best I've ever seen. They took individual shots, but also provided great photos of our kids posing together. We had no choice but to buy the entire packet. Actually, the grandparents had no choice but to buy the entire packet. Not a trendy school. Rather traditional. Basic. Could use a little facelift. But with some rather nice folks working there.

They had nothing written on her sheet as to what happened at all and when questioned no explanation either except she scratched her lip, CLEARLY this is not the case. The director did follow up with a phone call apologizing but still nothing to report as to what happened, when questioned on camera the response was that they were live streaming so no way to go back and look. After paying for Quarter 3, I was informed by an outside ABA agency that my son's teacher was found sleeping while feeding 12 children with special needs. A student was choking and she had to wake up the teacher. To top it all off I was shown a post of a mother who said her non verbal came home with bruises and marks. When she called the cops they couldn't do nothing because the child was non verbal! Beyond this life-threatening safety issue, the school doesn't follow IEPs which makes them a daycare. They lack basic facilities like a playground. They stopped allowing parents to go to field trips because they lie and tell parents their child did great when they didn't. Despite withdrawing my son immediately due to these hazardous conditions, the owner has refused to issue a refund. This facility prioritizes profit over the safety and developmental needs of children. I would not recommend this school to anyone. If you are looking for a real school that actually supports our children, I highly recommend reaching out to ACCEL (https://www.accel.org/contact-us/). Michelle there is amazing; she discovered that my son's previous IEP didn't even correctly say his autistic!!! After years of being misled, I finally have the support of a behavioral coach and case manager from La Frontera to help me at my next IEP meeting. Everyone that works there is nice and cares about the children. Their attention to education is impressive. My oldest that just started kindergarten is excelling and was more than prepared. My 2nd has been at Whiz Kidz since he was 6 months old and is so happy every day when I pick him up. As a parent, we all want our children to be safe, happy, treated with care and learn. Whiz Kidz has been that place and I am so grateful for everyone there.

**For the Temple Kol Ami ECC**…read more After the last two years that our daughter attended the ECC, witnessing the new leadership of Nicole Stokes, we've left and moved on to another school,. We are not the only family. We experienced a toxic environment and culture of concealment where the ECC systematically ignored or subrogated known physical safety, emotional and security issues. To be clear, I have nothing but accolades for Rabbi Schneider, his executive assistant, Erika, as well as Cantor Shaashua. For example: -Was dismissive of the behavior of two boys towards my daughter, including biting, hitting, and pulling her hair.....(I found this out *not* from the school, but from my 4 year old daughter). Nicole finally responded (via email) in part, "I'm wondering if we could change the narrative for her and instead of (your daughter) "reporting" a peer name or negative behaviors, each of you could ask her one game she played or book she read, or what special art project she worked on?"; -Another parent and I witnessed a boy walk up to three other children (2 of them girls) and shove them hard. The two staff supervising did nothing. I brought this up with Nicole, she responded with, "we address these issues in due time. And parents aren't supposed to be back in the playground around the children."; -Dismissed concern for the presence of a known toxic plant, that the Phoenix Botanical Garden stated that "small children and pets should not have access to this plant"; -Has done nothing for a year after being advised that the front gate sticks open during warmer temperatures (sometimes left unattended); -Repeatedly kept sick children in school (including heavy discolored nasal discharge); -My daughter expressed that she was happy when her teacher was absent one day, that she had a good day at school, "Because Miss XXX screams at us". Amplification: In response to my concern that a boy had been engaging in behavior that made my daughter increasingly upset, Nicole first responded with, "we don't have bullies in our school". I asked, "bullies?" She said, "yes, you said bullies". I replied, "no, I said that it sounds as if a boy has been bothering her" (my daughter had become increasingly anxious about coming to school, finally bursting our crying, calling out one boy's name). To which she said, "Well, Ian, children need to learn to navigate the social structure." -Nancy Drapin, Executive Director, on responding that she is aware that a toxic plant, Euphorbia tirucalli (pencil cactus), is in the front courtyard where many of the ECC children play after class gets out, "I ask you to please watch your child carefully when you allow her to play in the front ....It is definitely your responsibility to supervise. .....There are a number of parks nearby or, I am sure, near your home, that may have playground areas for children." Nancy stated that they have no intention of removing it. Furthermore, regarding Nicole Stokes' leadership: While she mostly presents a pleasant demeanor and maintains a smile, she can be very dismissive. Several times, I observed her not actively listen and seek to understand a situation and immediately become defensive; Multiple times, she failed to follow up and it took me several times engaging her to get a response or resolution on even small administrative matters. I learned to ask her, "when should I expect to hear back?" After speaking with several other parents, this is the pattern of behavior that they experienced. -She would refuse to discuss the behavior of the other child or whether and how they would also discuss the matter with the other parents "because of privacy issues". -Nicole often attends Shabbat services, however she typically spends much of that time face down in her cell phone. -One day when my wife picked up my 4 year old, the 11 year old saw an open box of cookies at the admin desk as you enter the school (everyone walks by this station), the 11 year old asked if she could have a cookie for herself and her sister. Nicole, standing there, flatly stated, "Absolutely not. These are for the staff."

When I came to pick up my son today, his green hat was missing--- now, this was not your ordinary green hat--- it was a one-of-a-kind green hat and Donnie's most favorite hat, so when the closing teacher said it was gone, I was very upset. I mentioned to Giselle, who was up at the front desk, about Donnie's green hat that went missing--- she WAS ON IT! She searched the toddler classroom; she searched outside and then she went the EXTRA MILE and took the time to scroll thru the video footage from earlier in the day to track down what happened to Donnie's hat! She was the ULTIMATE detective today! And guess what??! --- After looking at the video footage, Giselle found Donnie's hat! She said, "I know EXACTLY where his hat is! I'll be right back!" One of Donnie's teachers accidentally put Donnie's hat in another child's cubby. Giselle came back with Donnie's favorite green hat!!! YAY!!! Giselle made my day today! Giselle solved the problem right then and there and didn't dismiss my concern. NOPE!--- she took matters into her own hands and got the job DONE! LOVE it!--- now THAT'S EXCELLENT customer service! Giselle is such a sweetheart and an amazing person! Thank you again, Giselle, for your help today! You're AWESOME! :)

The teachers are caring, communication is excellent, and the facility is newer, always clean, and beautifully decorated for holidays. I also really appreciate the security measure, in which, there are cameras in all classrooms and a secure sign-in/sign-out process. Highly recommend.
