She was kind enough to give me an appointment only a couple days after I filled out the request form. Vanessa is amazing at what she does and is such a professional. She works efficiently and I feel she truly capture the essence of our little girl. She did such a good job with her that I had her do one of my first boy who passed away 13 years ago. I had always meant to do it, but just let life get in the way. I was a little picky about placement but she dealt with me with absolute grace and patience. The studio is easy to find, very clean, and comfortable. Jadyn is very conscientious and accommodating. I also really liked that he was fairly perfectionistic in stencil placement and in checking how the design was looking - really important bc he uses a lot of straight lines in his work! I absolutely recommend him, and I hope he gets lots of clients. Also, a big plus for the studio location: it's near some good and quick food options (always good when you're getting tattooed) like servandos, in n out, and wake cafe.

Unfortunately, the wait wasn't the only issue during my first visit. When I finally got in, the interaction with one of the staff members felt uncomfortable. I asked a simple, genuine question about whether piercings on each side have any meaning. He said he didn't know, which was perfectly fine, but the way he responded afterward left me wondering if he was being sarcastic or mocking me. It felt unnecessary, unprofessional, and honestly made me hesitant to return. These days it seems like you can't ask anything without someone turning it into something political, and that's not what I came in for. I did go back for a second visit, and that experience was completely different -- much more easygoing. I guess it really just depends on who you get. Still, that first impression was annoying enough that I've never looked back since. If you decide to visit, I recommend coming with a friend, especially if it's your first time. Having someone with you can help avoid misunderstandings, give you clarity, and make the whole experience feel more comfortable and supported.

Since it was my first tattoo, Simon regularly checked on how I was feeling and whether I was experiencing any pain. The lines are uneven, the thickness is inconsistent, and the geometric elements are crooked and poorly aligned. The shading is patchy and inconsistent, with areas that look unfinished and overworked. There are multiple OBVIOUS imperfections that should have been addressed before considering the tattoo finished. What made the experience even worse was the artist's attitude when I returned to discuss the possibility of a retouch. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he was rude and made me feel uncomfortable. He also made insulting comments about the amount of tip I gave him. A tip is at the customer's discretion and should never be used as a reason to insult or disrespect a customer. I paid for a permanent piece of artwork and expected professionalism, attention to detail, and basic respect. Instead, I was left with a tattoo that I'm unhappy with, an uncomfortable experience, and the possibility of having to spend even more money with another artist to correct the work. I would not recommend getting a polynesian tattoo here, the reason I came back to this spot is because of Gary, he did me a solid for doing a tiny dragon behind my ear. And for the artist that said he could have charged me more, but instead gave me a discount, buddy..... look at your work! This does not cost $2,000. I would have been more happy to get turned down and I mean, come on, if this ain't your forte and can't do these types of design, then just say so! I could have gone somewhere else and find an artist that is actually specializing in Polynesian tattoo. For me, the poor execution of the tattoo combined with the way I was treated afterward made this an experience I would not repeat.

Not to be dramatic but I will probably not go to any other tattoo shop because Rise Above exists. Everyone at rise above is super talented and friendly and it translates to the environment of the shop. You don't feel intimidated(especially if you're a girl) when you're greeted and helped right away,they treat you like they would treat their own friends and family. No rockstar attitudes!! I cannot say enough in a small post about how amazing a tattoo artist Shawn Phelps is. My husband who has never had a tattoo in his 47 years came to me and said I think I want to have our logo in a tattoo... I walked in and asked for a specific logo for our salon but more manly for my husband and Shawn copied it to a T! I LOVED my husbands tattoo so much I decided to get one of my own. I just have to start with how many times people ask my who my piercer is and refer them to Arissa. She is extremely talented, with such a light hand. I have had no problems with my piercings whatsoever (including healing and i don't take care of my piercings very often). She's also a sweet heart, gives amazing service, and makes you feel comfortable and confident in what you are getting done by her. Rise Above is the only shop I've been tattooed in and for good reason. I have 23 tattoos and every single one came out better than expected. I've been going there for over 3 years and will continue to for many more to come. Mike and Clint tattoo me and I couldn't ask for better artists. Their attention to detail is impeccable. Got tattooed here three times now, I've been collecting tattoos for the past 8 years and have been to pretty much every shop in the area. First thing you notice when you walk in is the amazing artwork that covers the shop from floor to ceiling which was very impressive, not to mention all the awards on the walls. Nothing but good vibes when I was in there. I'll definitely be back, I know these guys work hard, I keep tabs on all of them on their instagrams to see what they're up too, even the apprentice puts out awesome art. Shawn and the guys down at Rise Above tattoo are some of the most down to Earth artists I have ever met. The shop itself is very clean and professional. The artists are all incredibly talented at what they do. I went in to get my girlfriend's arm tattooed and they hooked it up with a great piece at a killer price. After it was done they even gave us each a shirt and stickers. You won't find a better shop at the price in the Inland Empire so I'd definitely recommend checking them out. I've gotten multiple tattoos from Michael at Rise Above (7 if we are counting) so I've spent many many hours in the shop. I noticed unlike some shops, they have always been courteous and helpfull with every client. I Have been going to Tommy here since the beginning of 2019. Tommy has now finished up both of my legs and now half way through my back over the past 5 years. I've always had the most professional experience here at this shop from Tommy and all other artists there. Very welcoming vibe every time I've been! I got my rook piercing done by Arissa a couple days ago! She has such a light hand, she's very clean, professional and I get all my piercings done by her. I've gotten my forward helix, cartilage, tragus, nose and my nipples. She also has awesome deals! So you don't spend an arm and a leg for an ear piercing. I have been tattooed here by Brandon, Louie (a guess spot from Chicago), and Edward! And I plan to get ink from everyone because everyone here is very talented and good at what they do. (Raff is next on the list to penetrate me) Garrett has also pierced me and done a great job! I plan to get more piercings from him also. Everyone does a great job of making you feel welcome and the work everyone does makes you want to come back :) It's also nice that the tattoo shop is very community driven and they also host hardcore shows in the parking lot :)

My artist, took careful consideration into my design and tweaked it to fit into the preferences I wanted (such as color and size). Overall experience was good. Only issue is that the artist never gave me his name.

Called and inquired about walk-in's, Rodrigo met us at the shop and took care of us within the hour. The shop was clean, we were greeted kindly upon arrival and Rodrigo's work is meticulous. He was patient, and helped us with the details to make our ideas reality. We couldn't be happier with our experience. Thank you for the experience, food and travel recommendations and beautiful work. Tony was able to quickly expand on the image I brought with more details keeping it simple but adding more details. I love the way he shades and I love the way he stays concentrated in trying to finish the tattoo so last minute. I love the way he stayed in contact with me back and forth with images he sketched out making sure I am satisfied before I came in. Overall, tony is awesome and he is very artistically skilled to whip up almost anything according to the customers preference. I like his positivity and confidence in his artwork. Tony was literally the only tattoo artist that was able to make me feel confident in doing my cover ups with him. He's very responsive and I can't wait to see how he will be covering up my tattoos.
