They earned that 5 star from me tonight. The service was stellar (Adrianna). Atmosphere is just right. The food was amazing. Definitely try the seared Sea Scallops! Best I've had in a long while. Also note worthy are the Beer Battered Onion Rings. So good. The wife and I had a fantastic date dinner. Check them out. They do not disappoint! Very nice dinner! My family and I celebrated my birthday this evening. They don't take reservations, but you can call ahead 30 minutes prior to arrival. We got there at 5:45PM and we walked in the door and right to our table of seven. The decor and atmosphere are very inviting. The space is good with a fantastic saltwater fish tank separating the too main seating areas. The server was very pleasant and knew the menu and specials very well. They have something for everyone, but main focus is on ocean life. Fish, shrimp, scallops, crab legs & cakes that are offered in several different options. You can order most fried, broiled, blacked, or grilled. I had the Surf and Turf. 10oz Strip and blacked scallops!!! The scallops were my favorite! So tender and flavorful. The Steak was cooked slightly more done than I asked for, but I made it work. Everyone was very pleased overall! It was a great night! I recommend checking them out for very good spot for seafood. Got the cat fish. Was great. We got alligator bites as an appetizer. Wish it could come as a meal. The waitress was so welcoming. I got my son fish bites. He loved them. Hubby got the burger, said it was too much but still cleaned the plate lol. The sauce they use for the crab cakes is what I asked to use for my cat fish and it was to die for. The food was on point! I got the Poke bowl with grilled shrimp and my husband got the grilled chicken Cesar. Both were fresh and delicious. But the real stars were our server, Candace, and the deserts. Candace was wonderful. Very attentive and friendly. I got the coconut cream pie and it tasted just like my mom's. The service is good and the food it's OK, nothing to rave about. The problem is that the prices are indicative of a much higher quality of food and it's just not there. The fish and chips is horrible, the salads are good and the grill salmon is OK. If the prices were lower I would go there for a quick lunch more often but the taste is not there at these prices. Well my wife and I haven't been in years I decided we should go for the half price oysters on Thursdays and I wanted a good fish and chips. I discovered the half price oysters are maybe worth being half priced maybe. Do not order fish and chips unless you want fish that is the consistency of a fish fillet at McDonalds and fries not a true fish and chips meal do not order. Our meal was over 80 dollars I don't complain in a restaurant I believe it's rude to the servers I wanted to. We have been to Riptides on several occasions and have enjoyed the cusine. The service is always exceptional. Emily served us tonight and she was highly professional, very personable and a delight. I ordered the swordfish special and was disappointed by the wafer of fish I received that was also lacking flavor. It was so thin that it couldn't help to be overcooked. My wife's mahi mahi was also thin and over cooked. We were very disappointed by the poor quality during this visit. I will have to think twice before I return. I have lived around this area all my life and i have never gave this place a chance. My family and i finally came in for a bday celebration. I must say the food was absolutely devine and the service was great. I had the black bleu burger and it was the best burger i have ever eaten. Yes iam a burger guy and omg it was great. My wife had the shrimp platter and according to her she loved it. I unfortunately have to say why 4 stars and not 5. Well the prices are absolutely to expensive. The portions arent as large as you would think by looking at the prices. I do highly recommend going , the restaurant is very comfortable inside, the vibe is really cool and they have a bar as well. Must update. This Place Has It Down!! $.75 oysters steamed to perfection, and Oh, MY, the She Crab Soup! This is not your average thick, floury cream sauce with a teeny lump of crab in the center....this is a perfectly seasoned, just crabby enough Bowl of heaven! I believe it is the best bowl of soup I've ever had! The service remains excellent, the prices most definitely reasonable. I'd love to try other things on their menu, but to do so would mean I must pass on the soup and oysters, and I haven't been able to do that yet, although everything else smells and looks divine as it passes our table... My wife got fish and chips and fried Brussels sprouts she love her fish and chips only complaint she had is that they were a tad greasy on the plate but none the less very good. We are huge fans of this restaurant!! We came this time on a Friday night just after 6:00. Being a rainy and cold night it was surprisingly pretty dead! The restaurant is always so clean and staff is super friendly! We were quickly seated. We always order the she crab soup for an appetizer to share. We probably should both get our own because that's how amazing it is, every single time. One of the best she crab soups we've ever had!! For dinner I ordered the fish tacos which are made with blackened mahi mahi. I'm not even a fish person but these are to die for. Once you add in two sides you will leave overly stuffed if you eat everything! My husband ordered the shrimp Alfredo. It's very creamy with fresh shrimp. If you are a pasta lover like my husband, you should get this!! He also got a mixed alcoholic drink, the cherry limeade. The best things to order on the menu are the crabcake balls, coconut rice, s'mores cheesecake and bar drinks. Sadly the seafood I ordered which was the flounder did not taste fresh and was served to me in halves; first half with my entree and the second half once I started to eat. Apparently the fish split in half during cooking, although I appreciate the honesty it was strange to have a half of piece of fish plated. The calamari was bland, the hush puppies were overcooked so nothing would prompt me to return here outside of the coconut rice which was prepared with shredded coconut and in coconut milk making it sweet. Yummmm! The parking lot was packed and we were afraid we'd have a long wait but we didn't. Seated in 15 minutes, table for 2. We started with 2 for $20 apps and Sangria Saturday!! We added the shrimp tacos + fish fry as our entrees. The 3 tacos were filled with fried shrimp and the Whiting fish was flaky and seasoned and fried. I ate here years ago, and I remember loving the shrimp scampi being so great. My memory of how great they are was tarnished by my recent visit. The food was pretty overpriced and it was oddly bland. My crab cake was mostly breading, which is disappointing considering how it was described as lump crab. They charge way too much for lackluster food. Had a great meal with husband and Mom, weekend before Mother's Day. This was also a big prom night. Good for them, bad for us. Our wait was 40 minutes that turned into 1 hour 5:30 to 6:30. Driving to this place at night makes it easy to pass by but I found it. I had a taste for a crab cake sandwich and this was the closest place to offer one. We ordered a crab cake, fries, spinach, a bacon blue burger with fries and broccoli and a side of hush puppies. First, I'm disappointed that the order taker didn't tell me that hush puppies automatically came with each entree. I basically ordered a side of hush puppies for nothing, and they were terrible so it was a total waste. The Crab cake and burger were both good, but all the sides were awful. They all lacked flavor, even just some basic salt and pepper. This is something that would need to be fixed before I went back again. read more

The toast points seemed fried and then covered in old bay seasoning - BUT, they didn't have enough toasted points for the amount of dip..need more toasted points for amount of dip in bowl! Had a house salad with the Parmesan Peppercorn dressing - which was really fresh. The bread they brought out went great with the salad. Had the Scallops. They were on the smaller side, but pan seared perfectly and there were more than I expected. baked potato and corn were nice additions. What a great restaurant! Friendly staff, very clean and upscale building/furnishings, and the food is awesome! We were on business and our waitress said it was no problem to issue separate checks. (Yay!) We ordered eggrolls, hamburger, the scallops, shrimp and crab dinner, and a Caesar Salad. Everything was great. The eggrolls were crispy and had a nice dipping sauce. The salad was crisp Romaine and large pieces of sliced Parmesan cheese. The dressing was nice and creamy. The seafood dish was cooked in a light butter and garlic sauce. I thought the shrimp was on top of rice, but turned out it was crab meat! It was sooooo good! Sides were spinach and coleslaw and they were also very good. I really enjoy this restaurant. It can be hard to get a table and can get a bit pricy so make a reservation if you can or come with enough time to wait. The smaller the party the better as it usually is a busy place. 1) Food was excellent!
