I hate giving mediocre reviews, especially to a place just trying to get started. I truly wish them the best and hope they do well. With that said I wasn't crazy about anything we tried. The avocado toast was the best thing we tried but at $8 that seems alittle steep for a piece of toast covered with avocado. That's just my opinion. I workout alot and love protein shakes, I just wasn't blown away from the two flavors we tried. The cheese bread was not that good in my opinion. The service was beyond excellent and extremely nice and helpful. She gave us an extra cheese bread because there was two of us and an order normally comes with 3, so she gave us 4 so we both had 2 each. She also made acai, for another customer and was kind enough to make us both a free sample. Excellent service, very clean inside and I love the decor. Just need alittle work on menu and flavor, in my humble opinion. I always truly want to love a place, especially one tryinging to offer healthy options. Give it a try, maybe you will like it more than I did. Everyone has different taste.

The Boo Drink--special for Halloween! Taro and acai protein shake.

It's the only place around here to get authentic acai--you won't want to go back to the local stuff after having it here. Don't sleep on the Brazilian cheese bread, and the avocado toast is to die for. The protein shakes are delicious, and they are always creating new flavors, so good for after a workout! Friendly employees, fresh ingredients, and they always make it with care.

Everything in my life changed. I never used to eat at McDonalds, but after I got out of the hospital, I eat there a lot (it's all I can afford - if that) and I'm always trying to pay attention to the McD points so I can get more food. That being said, going to Chama is either because of some miraculous unplanned result, or deliberately saving money for the better part of a year. The worst result of my new life with these injuries is I can't take care of M as much as I'd like. We did take M to Chama for her birthday a couple years ago and she has always been wanting to go back every day since then. Recently, she requested to choose where we would have dinner, and in addition she said we couldn't change her mind. We weren't even sure until we arrived that she had chosen Chama (so that implies Chama is her favorite restaurant - even though she's been to a lot of nice places including in Monterey and on the ocean side). We could only afford to get just M a meal and Grace was really nervous that us being on a really obvious budget and being out of place would cause the staff to be upset or impatient with us. Actually, the staff was super nice and accommodating to M, and to all of us. That could only happen because the Chama staff and Terry our waitress treated us like family. If you put me at the McD ordering kiosk, I'm pretty good at navigating my way through ordering and making sure I use up my points before they expire. But we were lost as to how ordering worked at Chama, and I couldn't remember anything I learned from the last couple times before when I was there. Terry was really patient explaining how to order, and helped M choose a meal option / buffet that was perfect for her. All three times I've been there the staff has been great. Recently was M's second time and we appreciated that the staff would be so kind to a child. There's something special and permanent about a child's memory eating at their favorite restaurant in the world. We appreciate that Chama staff and Terry made the effort to make that dinner magical and inviting. We have a really good memory now of a family together having that amazing experience. I like M had an unusual opportunity to plan our evening and restaurant choice, she did make the plans, and she had such a memorable shared adventure and outcome. Thank you!

My experience with Bacalhau Grill was extremely disappointing and frustrating…read more Before placing my order, I called multiple times because I have significant food allergies and needed to verify ingredients and preparation methods. Asking questions about allergens is not a matter of preference--it's a matter of safety. During these calls, I experienced repeated hang-ups while simply trying to get information about whether the restaurant could accommodate my allergies. Eventually, I was assured that my meal could be prepared without the ingredients I am allergic to, so I felt comfortable enough to place and pay for an order. Unfortunately, that was where the problems only got worse. After placing the order, I waited more than an hour and a half. During that time, I repeatedly attempted to contact the restaurant for updates and clarification. Instead of receiving assistance, my calls were repeatedly ignored or disconnected. It felt as though the restaurant was actively refusing to communicate after taking my payment. The most upsetting part of the experience was that after assuring me they could accommodate my allergies and accepting my money, I never received the level of communication or service that any customer should reasonably expect. When someone has food allergies, clear communication is essential. Being unable to get answers about an order involving allergens is stressful and unacceptable. What should have been a straightforward transaction turned into an exhausting experience filled with confusion, unanswered questions, and a complete lack of customer service. I spent considerable time trying to reach someone, waiting for an order, and attempting to resolve the situation, only to be met with silence and disconnected calls. I understand that restaurants get busy and mistakes can happen. However, repeatedly hanging up on a customer, failing to communicate after taking payment, and leaving someone waiting for over an hour and a half without meaningful updates is not acceptable. Customers deserve honesty, respect, and basic communication--especially when food allergies are involved. This was one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences I have had, and unfortunately I cannot recommend Bacalhau Grill based on the way this situation was handled.

When we first went, the restaurant was running special promotions--$49.99 per person for the dinner buffet and a Wagyu steak for two (with the full all-you-can-eat buffet included) for $155. We tried both during two separate visits, and the food was so delicious we couldn't resist coming back the very next weekend. (According to the restaurant, these promotions have since ended, but the quality of the food makes it worth visiting regardless.) The service was equally impressive. Felipe, the manager/host, was welcoming, patient, and very thorough in explaining the menu. Our server, Lays, was outstanding as well--she made our anniversary dinner feel so special and even surprised us with a complimentary dessert. Food-wise, the ribeye, sirloin, filet mignon, and garlic shrimp were my favorites--perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The grilled pineapple and fried bananas added the perfect sweet touch. On our second visit, we ordered the Wagyu steak, and it was phenomenal: tender, juicy, and melt-in-your-mouth good. Even as I write this, I find myself craving it all over again. I highly recommend Show De Carnes under its new ownership--it's one of the best dining experiences we've had in San Jose!

I rate restaurants on a 5-point scale based on food quality, service, cleanliness, and price/value/variety (1 point each), plus wait time/pacing and atmosphere/ambiance (0.5 point each). Based on that scale, I would give Texas de Brazil a 4.7 out of 5. Every time we visit, the restaurant is spotless. Cleanliness is clearly a priority, from the dining area to the salad bar, which is always fresh, flavorful, well-stocked, and beautifully maintained. Even though it is self-service, staff are constantly checking the area, keeping it clean, and making sure dishes are replenished. The service is excellent. The servers are attentive from the moment you arrive. They offer drinks quickly, explain the menu, and remain consistently present without being intrusive. Your plate never stays empty for long, and you never feel like you have to chase someone down for service. The meats are absolutely delicious, beautifully cooked, flavorful, and plentifu, and I mean plen-ti-ful. Since Texas de Brazil is all-you-can-eat, you really do get your money's worth. It is on the pricier side, which is why I would take 0.3 off for price/value/variety, but the quality of the food, the service, and the amount you can enjoy still make it worth it. I've seen some reviews mention feeling rushed, especially during busy times or holidays. My recommendation is simple: use the red/green card system to your advantage. If you turn your card to red, they stop bringing meat to your table. When you're ready for more, turn it back to green. That makes the experience much more enjoyable and lets you eat at your own pace. Another plus is that they often have online promotions where you can buy multiple dinners at a significant discount, usually valid Monday through Thursday. Even when using those deals, the quality and service remain just as good. The only item I personally found a bit too salty was the Parmesan chicken, so I'd skip that one or try it with caution. As for dessert, they've all been wonderful so far, but the carrot cake is currently my favorite. Overall, Texas de Brazil is absolutely worth it if you enjoy great service, quality food, and a dining experience that feels like a treat every time.

I went during peak hours on a busy day, and seeing the place packed actually made me feel a bit more secure. I figured with that many customers, the kitchen and salad bar would naturally stay fresher since the food is constantly being cycled out. While I still think any establishment should keep things up to par regardless of how slow it is, the difference in freshness this time was really noticeable compared to my first visit when it was dead. The service was great, which is a big win for me because even in my last review, I mentioned the service was the one thing they got right. I'm really glad to see that's still super consistent here. As for the food, they had a lot of "trendy" meats that I've been hearing about. I think it's a cut that's been all over TikTok the Picanha cut? I might be wrong on the name, but I'd heard people talking about it and it was super good and very tender. The biggest improvement, though, was the consistency. I prefer my beef medium-rare, and last time I was here, almost everything they brought out was well-done. This time, every piece that made its way to my table was cooked exactly how I like it. I'm glad I was actually able to enjoy the meal this time!

Sandra, who seemed to be one of the managers, was very polite, attentive, and professional the entire time. She and the team she was leading had a lot of tables to take care of, but she still handled everything with kindness, patience, and a good sense of humor, and we appreciated that. Even with how busy and chaotic things were, she remained gracious and helpful throughout the experience. The Brazilian drink she introduced us to was also very good. The restaurant was extremely crowded and it clearly seemed understaffed for the number of guests they had. The meat service ended up being very inconsistent, and everyone at our table tried different cuts because certain selections simply were not making it to all the tables equally. Even so, because of the professionalism and effort from the staff and the way we were treated, we may give the restaurant another chance in the future.
