I've been anticipating the opening of Steele Creek's location and I'm so excited that they are finally open! There are so many people I want to experience the fabulousness of Rio 150 and I'm glad that they are located so close now. During my visit, I was there for one thing and one thing only a margarita! I knew I didn't want one of the really cool awesome ones and that I needed something a little more demure so I opted for the house passionfruit margarita. Although it wasn't my favorite margarita, I will be back to try some of the other cooler options that they do have. For some reason this margarita was extremely strong and didn't have much of a passionfruit taste to me. I have to add that in my ripe old age I've become more of a mocktail girl so I do have a slight bias. For food, I got the chimichangas with one chicken and one ground beef chimichanga. No complaints in the food department. Everyone at the table enjoy their food and we had amazing service. As for the complementary salsa, one of the salsas was very bland and the other was too spicy for me. Can't wait to take back loads of people who have never experienced Rio 150! Shrimp Tacos , Shredded Chicken ( middle taco) , and Steak Taco ( Carne Asada Taco)

Excellent Restaurant. -Locating the restaurant was easy. The parking lot was packed however not an issue finding parking at all. -When I walked in the host greeted me immediately and was sat down instantly. -Server came to my table less than 5 minutes and I asked for water and it didnt take long. -Server helped by answering any questions that I had. I ordered the largest monster margarita strawberry. I loved it and loved the taste. The birria tacos were not my favorite ( however it wasn't bad , just for me it was a little greasy) . 3 tacos more Steak, Shredded Chicken and Shrimp as well. The shrimp tacos were the best outta all the ones I tried. -Great music and various tvs with diversity such as game shows , sports , etc. I will be revisiting the spot and will recommend it to others.

This place was packed upon walking in so knew it was good. 97 sanitary score We got service immediately and the waiter was very prompt. The bean and cheese dip was excellent and a nice portion. The chips came with a hot sauce and a mild. I had the lunch special which was very reasonably priced along with a barbocoa taco that was delicious My wife had the vegetarian burrito which was so big she took home half of it.

My out of town guests actually requested this spot as we had been to the Concord location previously. This location is fairly new and open for business. The service was just as stellar as the first time. Rio 150 is 2 for 2 in my books. Food and drinks were both delicious. We ordered the birria pizza which we split amongst 2 people but the dish was easily enough for 3 people.

Spacious, clean, and good food. Service was ok.could have been a little more attentive. Was able to eat and take food home.

Everything was great ! Sat at the bar and was just amazed at how much effort and time they put I to their specialty drinks! Very friendly and attentive staff also let me customize my dish to my liking.

    Quesa birria was amazing

Food is amazing, service is very good and nice ambiance. The only downfall is the music ... I hate reggaeton

Pollo Con Arroz( Chicken with Rice)

Food was pretty good. I ordered Apollo Con Arroz, heavy on the salt but the food was seasoned fine, had no complaints about taste. The food wasn't out of this world but it was generally very serviceable; prices range from the 11.99 to about 26.99$. Can't comment on the variation of portion size per price but I got a reasonably large portion for the 16.49$+ tax I payed for the Apollo Con Arroz. Service is good, I got sat down. Waited and checked up on quite frequently and attended to. It's a 4/5 experience, it's a solid B tier restaurant.

    Tripe Tacos and house margarita

Amazing food, great margaritas, and outstanding service! We recently tried this new RIO150 near our home and it was such a great experience from start to finish (we have been before on the other locations and love it) . The food was absolutely delicious full of authentic flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The margaritas deserve a special mention: perfectly balanced, refreshing, and some of the best we've had in a long time. You can tell quality ingredients are being used. What truly made the night memorable, though, was the service. Emilio was incredible -- attentive, kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. He gave excellent recommendations, checked on us at the perfect times, and made us feel truly taken care of without ever being intrusive. Service like his makes such a difference and elevates the entire dining experience. You can tell this restaurant cares about both the food and the people they serve. We left happy, satisfied, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend especially if you're lucky enough to have Emilio as your server!

    Their "beef" chimichanga.

Ordered a very simple chimichanga. They brought me overcooked crunchy old beef, asked for same thing to be remade and was told that I ate half my plate and they would have to charge me again if I wanted a remake. I took 2 bites (literally) too many and this is what I was told? I didn't want the whole plate remade, just the chimichanga with different protein. I will not be back.

    Margaritas!

Our dinners were amazing! The quesabirria tacos and the Dinner on the Rio (2 crab and shrimp burritos and 2 chicken flautas with Rice) were excellent and the jalapeño margarita was beautiful and delicious. Most important, the service was exceptional. We had a baby with us and we were placed away from others and given a larger table to accommodate 4 adults and a baby car seat and they even placed a chair in front of the seat to ensure the baby's safety. The restaurant was clean and busy on a Friday night- as it should be.

House like margarita! Delicious and refreshing!

I ordered the carne asada and was genuinely excited, but it was a letdown from the start. They never asked how I wanted the steak cooked, which is a huge mistake. Then they covered the steak in cheese--why? That completely overpowered everything. I couldn't even taste the chimichurri. A suggestion: grill the steak properly and serve it simply. If you need cast iron, use a skillet--not a cast iron bowl. Don't drown it in cheese, and please don't cut my steak for me. I'm a grown adult and can handle that myself. On the positive side, the service was on point--our waitress was amazing. The inside was clean and had a kind‑of Mexican vibe going on.

I went inside to get a manager to let them know that we hadn't been greeted. Another server came saying we weren't in his section but he'd take us. The manager brought us out some queso and chips as an I'm sorry. I specifically asked the server, Ohran, what tacos were included in the 2.50 street tacos listed on their board as their Tuesday special and was told all of them. I then asked him again "so all the tacos are considered street tacos" and he said yes. So, imagine my surprise when we received the receipts and were charged full price. The manager came over and basically said there was nothing that he was able to do because there were no specials being ran on cinco de mayo & his employee said that he did not say that. Of course he's gonna say that. He doesn't wanna take the fall. I worked at Maggiano's and Red Lobster for about 10 years total so I know how the serving life is but the fact that I had to go flag down someone to get service, we asked twice for waters and didn't receive them until the third ask, we didn't get napkins until after our food was out and we had to ASK for them and then we get told the wrong price???? Yeah I'll never be back and that sucks because the tacos were so good thanks to the Honduran chef who smokes a lot of weed (that's what our server told us. Very professional of him right?????).

We arrived around 130p and sat downstairs even though it was nice out and there's an upstairs bar, they said it was not available... I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

If you're looking for a spot with a high-energy vibe and a killer aesthetic, Superica in South End…read moredefinitely delivers. I visited with a friend on Cinco de Mayo, so as you can imagine, the scene was absolutely chaotic. The wait was a staggering hour and a half, but Superica handles crowds like a pro. They have an outdoor bar and a grill setup serving: * A limited taco menu * Chips and Queso This was a total game-changer. It's a genius move that keeps the "hangry" at bay while you soak up the South End atmosphere. Once we finally scored two seats at the bar, the service remained impressively steady despite the holiday madness. * The Vibe: 10/10. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely fits the trendy Charlotte mold. * The Food: To be honest, I wasn't blown away. Given the hype and the stunning decor, my expectations were sky-high. The flavors were "decent" and felt like a solid performance, but they didn't quite hit that "must-return" level of deliciousness. * Portion Sizes: Huge! I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting. Here's the interesting part: The food actually tasted better the next day. It traveled well and the flavors seemed to settle in overnight. If you can't finish your plate, definitely take it home. Is it worth the South End gas and the hour-plus wait? For me, I'll probably stick to my "old faithful" spot up in the University area for my routine taco fix. However, I'm willing to give Superica the benefit of the doubt. It's hard for any kitchen to be at its absolute peak on Cinco de Mayo. If I find myself back in the neighborhood on a quieter Tuesday, I'd give it another shot just to see if the food can live up to that gorgeous interior.
