I was staying at one of the hotels within walking distance to Salsa's, so I decided to have dinner there one night. I love the location, literally steps away from the hotels. I decided to sit at the bar and have dinner, my first thought was to get takeout, but I'm glad I sat at the bar. Everyone I encountered on staff was pretty friendly. It has plenty of seating areas, in addition to the bar. I ordered a drink and shrimp fajitas for my meal. Within minutes of sitting down, they brought out my chips and salsa. The chips were nice and fresh and the salsa was perfect. I enjoyed the drink and the fajita's were delicious. Salsa's is a little more expensive than your normal Mexican restaurant, but it was worth it.

Was staying in the area so decided to stop and try out Salsa's. The food, prices, and service were all good. You got a good portion of food as well.

Great staple of the neighborhood that gives you a great bang for your buck. Always has great service, good food at a great price.

I met very good friends here for lunch. Salsas (not Salsa's?) is in the Ayrsley Town Place which can get busy and you may be challenged to find street parking on a busy evening. There is a parking deck behind that more than meets the need. Warmly greeted and provided chips and hot/mild salsas (Ah. Maybe that's the explanation for the name?) while we looked over the menu. The chips were medium thickness, still warm and salted. Maybe not thick enough for dipping into queso but good enough for salsa. I chose a carne asada because I'm still on a keto style diet (yes, I ate five chips). It didn't take long and I had a big piece of spiced and grilled steak hold the rice and beans. Delicious. My friends enjoyed their burrito and chimichangas. Service was friendly and attentive. There is a full bar. [Review 16495 overall - 3154 in North Carolina - 3 of 2022.]

We decided to check out Salsa's early Saturday evening. Fortunately we were greeted and seated right away in the back of the restaurant. The dining room was spacious, but the booths were noticeably smaller than a typical restaurant booth. Our booth also needed to be cleaned, so we asked to move to a table. The table wasn't too clean either. There were sticky spots from the last patron who sat there. We stayed because the restaurant was fairly empty and we didn't want to endure a long wait somewhere else. After finally getting the table situated, we ordered queso to accompany the complimentary tortilla chips. The queso was very tasty. Excellent flavor. Unfortunately, it was served at room temperature...not a drop of warmth or heat, which made it much thicker and a lot less enjoyable. The pina coladas were easily our least favorite out of all of the pina coladas we've ordered at restaurants over the last year. Maybe we should've ordered their specialty coladas because the standard ones were poorly made. The steak fajitas looked yummy, but they were a 6/7 out of 10. The fajita nachos were a total bust simply because the steak was so tough...much tougher than well done. The waitress was friendly, but very slow. Simple, small improvements like clean tables and warm/hot queso would have made the experience a little better. I gave two stars instead of one because everyone on the staff was friendly and had a great attitude. There didn't appear to be much effort outside of that.

Simple quick Mexican restaurant. Good service and a lot of food for the dollars. Appetizer and tortilla soup was plenty of food. Cold beer.

Great place to come on a Saturday night! We arrived shortly after 8pm and was seated immediately. They have two sides to the restaurant so there's plenty of seating. The staff was friendly and gave up plenty of time to decide on drinks and our meal. She brought fresh chips and salsa while we chatted and glanced over the menu. Our waitress even gave a recommendation to my friend because she visits here frequently and wanted to try something new. I decided to go with the Camaron Diabla which is shrimp, vegetables and yellow rice. It was flavorful and a little zesty which is how I love my Mexican food. Overall I was pleased with my meal but the Sangria-Rita was too sweet and had a lot of syrup. I really couldn't taste the alcohol. Next time I'll just try the house margarita. The location of the restaurant is easy to get to. It's in the heart of shopping and a movie cinema close by. Great place to come to after a show or date night!

If you need cast iron, use a skillet--not a cast iron bowl. Don't drown it in cheese, and please don't cut my steak for me. I'm a grown adult and can handle that myself. I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.

If you're looking for a spot with a high-energy vibe and a killer aesthetic, Superica in South End…read moredefinitely delivers. I visited with a friend on Cinco de Mayo, so as you can imagine, the scene was absolutely chaotic. The wait was a staggering hour and a half, but Superica handles crowds like a pro. They have an outdoor bar and a grill setup serving: * A limited taco menu * Chips and Queso This was a total game-changer. It's a genius move that keeps the "hangry" at bay while you soak up the South End atmosphere. Once we finally scored two seats at the bar, the service remained impressively steady despite the holiday madness. * The Vibe: 10/10. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely fits the trendy Charlotte mold. * The Food: To be honest, I wasn't blown away. Given the hype and the stunning decor, my expectations were sky-high. The flavors were "decent" and felt like a solid performance, but they didn't quite hit that "must-return" level of deliciousness. * Portion Sizes: Huge! I couldn't finish my meal in one sitting. Here's the interesting part: The food actually tasted better the next day. It traveled well and the flavors seemed to settle in overnight. If you can't finish your plate, definitely take it home. Is it worth the South End gas and the hour-plus wait? For me, I'll probably stick to my "old faithful" spot up in the University area for my routine taco fix. However, I'm willing to give Superica the benefit of the doubt. It's hard for any kitchen to be at its absolute peak on Cinco de Mayo. If I find myself back in the neighborhood on a quieter Tuesday, I'd give it another shot just to see if the food can live up to that gorgeous interior.
