had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant. I found a hair in my food, which is already unacceptable, but what made it worse was how the staff handled it. When I pointed it out, they apologized and said they would replace the plate. However, when the "new" dish came out, it was clearly the exact same food--nothing had been remade. It felt careless and unhygienic, and it completely ruined my appetite. I won't be coming back. read more

It used to be good , not any more I'm Colombian born now n Medellin Goes quite often bc my husband is American & likes Latin food Our breakfast was a deciding factor They didn't have any regular toast ( Publix is 3 min ) they gave me a media luna ? Food was great! Loved their sancocho de costilla and their grilled fish. So many amazing foods to try from and it tastes fresh. Service was great everyone was kind and attentive. The place is quite small but I think it's cozy and welcoming. I've also had their empanadas before and they're honestly one of the best I've had. This place is my go-to for their empanadas. Their hot sauce is real spicy but delicious. Prices are also great compared to other rinconcitos. Overall would come here again to try more things. Check it out if you're ever in the area , they have a ventana to order for someone on the go. read more

Food is amazing. It tastes like home cooking. The arepas and homemade cheese are fantastic. It's a small spot, set up to look like a pueblito paisa. Our waitress, a young blonde woman w a sleeve tattoo on her right arm, was rude as hell. She did not even introduce herself. When I asked for a chocolate con queso (IYKYK) she looked very confused so I told her to just ask her boss and they would know what I mean. She assumes I was talking about the older waitress, I meant whomever is in the kitchen or the owner bc any Colombian knows what I mean. She just hastily took down our order and walked away. The waitresses were shouting across the place (honestly, I don't need to know that your auntie is fainting a guy who's wife died 6 months ago, I don't care. It is none of our business) but at least the other waitresses were kind. It seems our original waitress did not like us either bc after she took our order we were served by another young woman who was lovely. The older waitress is also lovely. I wish I knew the name of the first waitress so I could tell y'all who to avoid. Will we come back? Absolutely. The food was delicious. read more

There's a lot of rinconcitos in the Kendall area, all of them of varying qualities of either super mediocre, actually gross, and fantastic. This one is easily one of the better ones. Simple food with a small menu, the definition of quality over quantity. You won't see pasta, fried rice, or anything like that here. All they have is quality colombian food for a super good price. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and I've eaten at a few other places since. I have never had a picada as good as theirs. It's honestly not even close. If you're having a big get together, I'd highly recommend getting it. Or if you just wanna share with one to two other people, the single picada is also great. Really love this place, I gotta go more! read more

Don't waste your money. I ordered a Sancocho for delivery via Uber Eats. I set up the delivery time between 11:30am -12pm. A lady called me from the restaurant yo let me know that Sancocho is usually not ready until 12:30-1pm, ot she could substitute for chicken soup. I said I was willing to wait for the Sancocho, no problem. My food arrived at my door at exactly 11:30am. When I opened the container it was regular chicken soup, but they removed the chicken & put it in another container with plain white rice & a burnt arepa that had absolutely no flavor. The price of this dish is $13.95, which is ridiculous for soup. Add the delivery fee, taxes, tip, etc, I ended up paying $23.36...for bad soup. It doesn't even taste good. It is plain chicken soup! I called the restaurant & they just told me "that's how WE make it. Honestly , I'd even pay more for real Sancocho. read more

I'm going to start with the environment. The patrons themselves were so nice. They told us to sit with them, we conversed, and they too enjoyed the environment. It's a small restaurant, which stimulates patrons to foster a vibe of unity. I'm not Colombian, but even in their identification of my Dominican Spanish accent, the social attunement was amazing. I was immediately pleased with that alone. NOW, THE FOOD: Jesu Cristo con Dios que le conste: that food was DELICIOUS. My wife and I ordered a bandeja paisa with carne asada (roasted steak). My goodness! The arepa was crispy; the beans were not salty and flavored al gusto total; the rice was perfect; the maduros were delicious; and the aguacate--YO, let me not get started on the aguacate! We ordered one whole avocado, and it was too ripe to even believe what we had gotten. The complimentary sauce tableside was an amazing addition to the already delicious and well-cooked meal at hand. With a beer and jugo de maracuyá, the cherry on top of the metaphorical sundae hit every available spot within my anatomy. The servers were amicable, attentive, and conversational. Rinconcito De Alex El Paisa has GREAT Colombian food. My mother-in-law has been in the hospital due to cancer and she didn't want anything to do with hospital food. We found this goldmine! And we order "Sancocho de Gallina or Sancocho de Res" or even "Sopa de Mondongo", (Chicken stew, beef sancocho or tripe soup), and she eats one of these soups daily. We don't mind buying that for her daily, if that's all her stomach can take right now. I truly recommend this place. (Oh don't forget to taste their "Arepa de maíz con queso", it's so yummy ) Everything we've bought from here tastes great! Margarita is great with customer service, very professional & attentive. P.S. They deliver now. Just give them a call if you can't make it in person. I believe their delivery fee is $5 plus tip for the driver (if you'd like to add tip). So it's better to pick up if you can. read more

A staple in my family! We love coming to this place whenever where looking for some solidly good colombia food. During the weekend there may be a wait but it's usually not that long. A lot of people actually takeout. The staff has always been super friendly and nice. I love the bandeja paisa as well as their beef empanadas. For the empanadas make sure to get the sauces that com along with it as well as some lime to put inside. Their lentil soup as well as plátano soup are incredibly tasty. The latter is a bit heavier. Make sure to get some of the juices like the guanábana or the passion fruit - both are amazing when you get them in milk. I miss this place so much when I'm not home! Definitely make it a point to visit. read more

The good is amazing but the service is terrible. They got my order wrong and wanted to give me the food the cositmet before me took. They made me wait 30 minutes for my new food and gave me attitude because I didn't want the food someone had already touched. Anyways good is always really good. Food is alright, but their menus are misleading. According to the menu, breakfast orders come with coffee. However, they fail to state in the menu that this does not apply after 12 o'clock noon. My waitress didn't tell me anything and the menu didn't say anything, so how was I supposed to know? I picked my meal thinking it would come with coffee, only to find out that it was going to cost extra once it arrived... To add insult to injury, I asked for a to-go box. After the check arrived I realized they were charging me $0.20 for it. AFTER THE CHECK ARRIVED. After this incident I was confident that this place consistently fails to communicate clearly with its patrons. Like I said, the food is not bad, but you have been warned. I'm not sure what other sneaky inconveniences await, but I wish the best of luck to those curious enough to dine in. read more

So far everything we have ordered from here has been takeout but the staff have all been super friendly and pleasant in expediting my order as quickly as possible. The restaurant is very small but remains busy at all times. The last meal we ordered (churrasco and breaded pork loin) had huge portions I was not able to finish my pork which is a rarity for me!! My mother has enjoyed various soups such as the mondongo and short rib soup. The last meal she ordered was the grilled fish fillet which was not snapper but some other type of fish I had never heard of (not tilapia, she hates tilapia) but she was very pleased with the flavor and enjoyed all the sides that accompanied it. My son in law has told me that they also serve a great breakfast. The next time I go I plan to try their arepas! read more

We were in the area and gave this place a try. We had churrasco and liver. When we asked for vegetables instead of rice and beans, we were told they didn't have vegetables as an option, only lettuce and tomato salad which was chosen for 1 of the dishes. The food did not have flavor. Everything was bland, the beans, the liver, the churrasco and the tostones. The salad they gave us was ceasar and not lettuce and tomatoes; this wasn't even good. Great little find in The Crossings plaza. We ordered the Chuleta and the Bandeja Paisa and both were very good. Portions were very generous and service was good as well. Small establishment with plenty of parking as it's in a shopping mall. Upon entering, you find yourself with a cozy feel and around 9 tables. The employees are quick to greet you and attend to you quick giving you a family feel as an atmosphere. I ordered the large sancocho with chicken and it was very fresh and tastefully delicious and in all honesty, can serve 2 persons. I must admit that the other plates I saw coming out looked like can be shared by 2 people. Will be back when I have my desire for Colombian food. read more

I've been coming to Alex for a few years already. It's good, Colombian homemade food. It is not a big place but the food and service is what you would expect from an authentic Colombian restaurant. They offer a very inexpensive cantina takeout that offers you a different soup, entree and sides for the week. Their plantain soup is one of the best I've tasted. They also offer a different array of bakery goods like empanadas, chorizo with arepa, chicharron, deditos de queso and more. They offer different natural juices and give you the option if you want to have them made in milk or water. The only downside to this place is the parking. It's a big shopping center but with a publix and a gym next to it, the parking could get a little tricky. Aside from that, I really recommend this place if you are in the area and in the mood for hearty, homemade Colombian food. read more

For Valentine's Day 2021, I ordered 4 Bandejas Paisas Rinconcito, for pick up and was charged the full amount but when I got home they were all missing the "blood sausage". When I called to ask if I could pick up the missing item, they were condescending. Completely bad experience. I'll stick to going to "Macitas." Poor customer service. read more

They had a margarita special we tried, $5 frozen margaritas. The maracuya (passion fruit) one was a solid choice. I also ordered the mojarra frita with white rice, tostones, and salad. The rice was really undercooked. The waiter tried to appease us by bringing us more of the same uncooked rice. We were not the only table to say something about it because our neighbors confirmed they too received the same and were also unhappy. Other than that, the rest of my meal was great. However, I will say my mom was very upset with her experience and expressed that her chicken wasn't prepared well either.
