The arrangement was ugly, the bow lopsided, tons of greenery stuffed in with sick looking flowers. The next morning I rearranged the whole thing to look decent and take out extra greenery. It only looked okay at that point. 24 hours later the roses were all wilted and petals everywhere. I threw the roses out and am left with the greenery, now the morning after Mother's Day. Yesterday my husband delivered flowers to me from Riley's for Valentine's Day. When I got home I found the flowers by my door in the sun, with not a drop of water in the vase. I had to take it in and fill with water. The ribbon was not properly tied. Flowers half dying. It was not a professionally done arrangement at all. This morning the arrangement look like a week old arrangement even though I received it yesterday. They must have gotten the flowers a while ago and someone who didn't know what they were doing must have arranged it. The card my husband included was also a disaster. No thought had put into it. It was just scribbled on and so ugly. The price was still on the back of the card. I had to throw away the $ 160.00 valentines flower arrangement that I got yesterday. Awful service and awful prices! A few days prior to the event, we requested via phone to pick up a wedding bouquet for a small wedding ceremony at 10am the day of the event. They said the starting price was $80 and we agreed to it as Goodland Florist was closed the day of the ceremony. My husband got there at 10:25am and was informed they hadn't even started making the bouquet! He waited and then was presented with 7-8 roses and some fillers. The roses aren't even fresh looking. HORRIBLE SERVICE. I no longer live in Santa Barbara but have purchased from Riley's flowers on multiple occasions. This year my sister and I decided to order some flowers from Riley's to have sent to our mother and sister for Mother's Day. My sister called yesterday about the arrangements to a woman on the phone who sent her to a random website to choose florals, the woman refused to give her a price because the computer was in use and promptly hung up on her. We had no idea if she scheduled us for pickup until hours later when another man, who was kinder and had some pricing finally got a hold of her, he told her that she needed to look up new arrangements on a completely different website because the first one had no association with them whatsoever. She chose two different bouquets and placed an order with the new person. Each bouquet was around $90, which is definitely steep but we paid anyway! Each bouquet was wilted and dead. Not only that, but the second bouquet wasn't even similar to the one we chose, it was supposed to be soft pinks with some splashes or purple and darker pink, we got hot pinks, yellow and greens? I called and the woman on the phone started arguing with me telling me "I doubt it, I really doubt it was dead, we DONT have dead flowers" She was rude, abrasive and the owner of I'm not mistaken, as I've been helped in person by the owner on multiple occasions and this woman sounded familiar. She did offer to have the flowers replaced which I do appreciate but I wasn't going to make my mother or sister go on an errand to get even more flowers from this rude woman for them to end up just as ugly as the last bouquet. We were happy to pay a premium for flowers for the mothers in our lives but were highly disappointed with the quality. If you are looking for good quality flowers or even somewhat decent service, try ANY other flower shop in Santa Barbara!! I wish I could leave a better review. Honestly, I am shocked at how disappointing it was to get my wedding bouquet from Riley's Flowers. In November, we stopped by this spot to ask about their process. They said it's simple and they could accommodate a 24 hour notice for one wedding bouquet + boutonnière. Well, fast forward to the day before our courthouse wedding and I am back to order my bouquet. The lady helping was nice, but it doesn't excuse the arrangement that they charged and gave me. My now husband picked up the flowers on our wedding morning and brought them to our hotel. I have attached the "inspiration" pictures I had texted the lady I spoke with the day before along with what I was given. I ended up taking the entire arrangement apart three hours before my wedding and redoing it myself. I went with Riley's Flowers for my wedding bouquet and boutonnières and Rachel was such a pleasure to work with. She gave me exactly what I was looking for and everything turned out beautifully! She was also extremely gracious and flexible as I forgot to pick up my flowers the day before the wedding with all that was going on. I paid the extra $50 to pick up on Sunday since they're closed and Rachel took time out of her day and waited 30 minutes for me on Sunday to come get my flowers. I have had numerous terrific dealings with Riley's flowers until now. This time, unfortunately, I was dealing with owner Maureen, not one of her talented designers. This is the third time I have placed a $750-$1,000 order from them and have sent numerous bouquets from them. This time, I was donating centerpieces to a charity fundraising luncheon. I took in Pinterest pictures of what I wanted (vegetables used as centerpieces) - see below. Maureen assured me she could do arrangements like the pictures and said she had to charge more per arrangement because she would have to go to a farmer's market for "pretty" vegetables. The 20 arrangements ($50 each) were hideous. There was no artistry or design. Any greenery was yellowing and/or wilting or broken and floppy. There was dead plant material in these arrangements (leaves, dead buds of the vegetable that should have been trimmed off). I was supposed to receive 4 each of 5 different vegetable centerpieces. I got 6 of 1, 2 of another. The water in the vases was murky and there were not enough vegetables in each vase for the volume needed for an arrangement. Except for the ugly packaged carrots. They were jammed in a vase with all greenery trimmed off (which is the clue to the carrots being packaged from a grocery store - plus they were thick and lumpy). Additionally, in the carrot arrangements, she jammed stalks of mystery tiny "greenery" (wilted and yellowing and not the size/volume you'd expect for thick, nasty carrots) and actual naked stalks with no greenery at all into the vase with the ugly packaged carrots. It was shocking. It was like someone did it while they were sleepwalking. There was no care, no consideration, no pride. And as I said, no artistry or design. I was humiliated when I saw what Maureen had sent. I told the delivery driver I was not happy and realized after he left that they also had not included the 21st arrangement of flowers for the reception table I had paid for. I called the store and the young woman I spoke to was lovely (not Maureen), and she sent over a gorgeous floral arrangement delivered to the venue in time. I walked into the store after the event to complain and ask for a refund and Maureen conveniently "wasn't there" (hiding in the back most likely). This morning I called the store and Maureen said point blank that she will not talk to me and hung up on me. Maureen should be ashamed of the subpar product she sent out and overcharged for and her ultimate lack of pride in her work and her rotten "customer service." read more
